I know! I was so surprised! The only ones I don't regularly watch are nerdcrafter and simply, but I know of them and occasionally listen to simplys podcast. It is so weird to be in a bubble without knowing it. I thought my interests were diverse, math and sewing historically and cooking and sudoku don't instantly make connections with eachother

I was also surprised to not see any Vlogbrothers/Nerdfighteria youtube channels among the other popular channels, since that's where I found you from way back when and I was pretty confident we would still be a sizable chunk of audience.

I have yet to finish this puzzle but already know this will be the first of many!!

It's very interesting, especially the companies of the puzzle you own. They are completely diffrent from the ones we have in Europe (Poland to be precise). Apart from Ravensburger and Educa, I do not really know these companies. What we have are: Clementoni, Bluebird, Schimdt, Gibson, Jumbo, King, Trefl, Castorland.

    • @highpath4776
      @highpath4776 2 года назад +1

Ravensburger and Gibson seem to be the ones I notice most in the UK, though I am not a big contemporary puzzle collector or buyer- my friend will do 500 piece ones of any age. I just like my childhood ones, I have some wooden ones where the boxes fell apart and the connector lugs long gone, and some were Winfield (Woolworths own brand - as birthday gifts), and I collected mainly Arrow Games Jigsaws - with a few that are the David Shepard Railway Art Painting ones , which are really nice. This was a very interesting video though I loved your room makeover and watching you do your puzzles (by the way seeing how you sort the pieces out first I realized I have been doing them wrong for 40 + years 😂)

I was shocked how close my guess for total pieces was. I guessed 300,000 since you had about 300 puzzles, and I guessed they averaged about 1000 pieces a puzzle. The spreadsheets really put everything into perspective! Also, I have never seen a video from any of those recommended channels (except maybe one or two from Cracking the Cryptic). I guess Karen is just special!

I used to do puzzles in the past and haven't done them in awhile until my daughter gave me a beautiful, but difficult, puzzle as a gift, which sparked my current interest in puzzles. Here’s an idea that may have already been said, but What if you did a puzzle with each piece flipped over so it’s just a blank image. The fun part about it would be to see what it would look like once it’s finished! You would (try) not to look at the finished image as best as possible to have the greater surprise.

My guess was somewhere in the neighborhood of 400,000. I went back to your puzzle room organization video and counted as many boxes as I could see on shelves (got just over 340). I couldn't see all the piece counts on all the boxes but I figured just multiplying by a thousand (and adding in the 24,000 piece lol) would kind of average everything out. I didn't think you would not include the ones you plan to get rid of when you are done them, because they are on your shelf and still part of your collection, so I counted those too. I was on the right track though. I would LOVE a video about the rare puzzles on your SPREADSHEET. I love learning about rare things. So fascinating and mysterious!

I would love to see more of the vintage puzzles on your wishlist. I go to thrift stores often and sometimes find vintage puzzles, and I always wonder if they're ones you'd be interested in. I usually look them up and if there are any inexpensive copies listed on eBay, I assume they're not rare enough. But I'd hate to leave behind something you're looking for because I'd totally send it to you!

A lot of the puzzles I want are widely available on eBay and I just haven’t bought them yet. But if you find anything particularly rare, feel free to email me with photos!

I've just made up an inventory of all the puzzles I own. It's a great way to keep track of what I have. I need to add up how many pieces I own all up

Loved this! My worst nightmare is someone dumping all my puzzles together, which is realistic with children in the house. I also have a list of puzzles organized by brand and title as well as a Google photo album in case the same image gets released by a different company. I should combine into a spreadsheet but my sisters aren't as skilled as yours. Puzzle nerds unite! 🧩❤️

It's scare how many of those channels I'm either subbed to or watch anywhere between seldomly and enough to have a clear idea of the internet persona behind the channel name.
And I really like that Cracking the Cryptic is on that list. Makes that puzzle with the sudokus on it fit in even better.

I loved all the spreadsheets in this video, so nerdy yet so fun and interesting to hear. i was gonna guess 300,000 but it felt like a low number. i watched at least one channel from the viewers watch list.

Mid fifties bell ringing subscriber here and I've been keeping track of stuff like this before spreadsheets existed!!!! How else could I keep track of what nail polish I wore when?!?! Or all the stationery I had? Remember, mid fifties! :) LOVE these stats!! I've always found stuff like that fascinating. I also appreciate all the work and effort you put in to upload quality videos. Looking forward to your next one. Also wish I lived closer just to be able to dig thru that box of donations......

You need a spreadsheet to keep track of your puzzles and you say that might "not be a lot"... Great (polished) collection, keep it up and enjoy! Regards from Uruguay.

Just rewatched this video again since I wanted to see some data behind my puzzle collection too! I have a total of 140 puzzles including a few that I purchased that are on the way. Total number of pieces is 109,737!
Maybe another interesting statistic could be puzzle shape? (Square, rectangular, round, irregular/shaped, octagon)
Or puzzle date ranges? Seeing the number of vintage vs. new puzzles?
