Fellow 30 year old (will be 34 in a few days) and will agree. A lot of music tries, but doesn’t quite hit it. This one definitely draws me back to female rock artists of the 90s - maybe it’s the vocal tones, guitars, mixing - it definitely hits whatever it is referencing. It’s more Natalie Imbruglia than Alanis Morissette if you had to pin a reference, hovering towards the soft but still has a little bit of attitude. The singer actually has a voice that is eerily similar to a The Primitives or maybe the Bangles, which were from the 80s.
This totally takes me back to high school: late 90s, early 2000s, but sounds a little earlier than that, like the Clueless era (1995ish). I like the lyrics, the chords, and love the riffs that start at 1:43 and ends at 2:19. This track would also be amazing with just the music alone.
Water “I was seven, to think about it. The fact that I still can’t forget about it.” The lyrics suggest that she was abused by someone when she was a child and that she still has a lot of lingering trauma that she’s still struggling with now. The song is about the fact that she needs to actually start opening up and getting help from people around her about her trauma. She also said in her Genius interview that the lyrics “Are you the same? I’m still the same” Are actually about her not being able to move on :(( Oh! And it’s also about the fact that she’s hesitant to ask for help because she doesn’t want people to treat her like a baby and show “fake sympathy” she wants them to actually care about her and understand what she’s been through and that yeah, she’s had it rough but that’s no reason for people to show her fake sympathy and baby her.
I hate the typical YT comments like "underrated" or "this deserves millions of views" but I really think that this song really kick ass and deserves more recognition, if someone says to me this is from late 90s or early 2000 I would not doubt it, few artists of now could do that, respect!

But they could also argue that this is essentially 90s music, so it doesn't count. Heaps of music from every decade, subjectively sucks. But they all have subjectively good stuff too, including now (for pretty much all tastes).

Bea, you might never see this, but I noticed the scene where you were smoking in a bathtub, and one where you put out your cigarette on the camera(or something above it). the fact that this was filmed with the help of like 3 people makes it more special
90's Lush vibes all over this. Those guitar tones and effects are flawless!
Someone appreciates lush wow!!
In the wise words of Bea “I think I kinda like it” but like I LOVE IT
having trouble deciding if i want a girlfriend like her or if I just wanna look like her
Rt
why not both
same
hfjfhbfh honestly
same tho >.
this will always be my favourite bea song, the chorus is so perfect and sounds exactly like it would feature in an indie coming-of-age film in 1996
this feels like a song that should be playing over a scene in skins
shay english truee
I usually HATE it when people attribute things to Skins when they’ve clearly never watched it but I can definitely agree with you on this
this is literally gonna be godly i can feel it
orbit and beabadoobee fan♡♡♡

IT IS OMG
めちゃくちゃ神で天才なのに、なぜか懐かしさを感じる。そしてなぜか日本的魅力も感じる。けどこれって、どこの国から見ても郷愁の魅力を思わせるのだろうか?だとしたら何だこの天才は!

Happy birthday! ((:
Birthday happy you to
happy birthday
i’m so excited i KNOW it’s gonna be sooo good n on repeat
Hey,someone from the future here yes yes it's good :)
This totally takes me back to high school: late 90s, early 2000s, but sounds a little earlier than that, like the Clueless era (1995ish). I like the lyrics, the chords, and love the riffs that start at 1:43 and ends at 2:19.
This track would also be amazing with just the music alone.
More 1990-93 to me...
@@sr71atomica I was too young in early 90s, but it does remind me quite a bit of "Linger" by The Cranberries, which was 1993.
@@RyanRosario Yes, another good song by another good alternative group. #RIPDoloresORiordan
this whole 2000's aesthetic is working so well for her, i'm obsessed with this song
I can feel this is going to be so good
2024 still listening to this! What year are you?
Indie feelgood hit of the summer? Could have come out in 91... instead came out 9 minutes ago :)
Reminded me a little of the Cranberries or Belly. Jangly 1990s goodness, but still sounded refreshing and new.
ラジオで流れていて気になっていました。90年代後半にシューゲイザーなどのUKロックやスウェディッシュポップなんかをよく聴いていた自分にとっては、懐かしいサウンドです。いいですね!
all her songs are beautiful gosh, i listen to her everyday its better than the music going this days
She brings me back to that Lizzie McGuire era. And I’m here for it.
I was just thinking thisssss reminds me so much of Hilary Duff!!!
The little 'communicate' at 0:55 is my favourite part of the video
she is one of the most underrated artists out there..
This is look like a 2000s clip, like a clip of Avril Lavigne
Check out Mazzy Star Fade into You
Wait after listening to the lyrics more this is such a sad song :( I’m so sorry for what you went through Bea
ikr!! i didn't even pay attention to them until i tried playing it :(( damn
Water
“I was seven, to think about it.
I’m still the same” Are actually about her not being able to move on :((
Oh!
@@ina5860 I’m sad 😢
@@ina5860 I’m actually sad about it. I hope she’s moved forward soon
Es Radio Doble Nueve 99.1FM

Callar in digena
Siempre Doble 9! ♥️
This sounds like something that would play in a coming-of-age girly y2k movie and I’m in love😭
however many like this gets is the amount of times i'll listen to this song
めっちゃ好きなやつ!
This song brings me back to 2000. Also can we all appreciates Bea's white boots lol
all of us sat staring at the screen waiting for it to start like: 👁👄👁
I hate the typical YT comments like "underrated" or "this deserves millions of views" but I really think that this song really kick ass and deserves more recognition, if someone says to me this is from late 90s or early 2000 I would not doubt it, few artists of now could do that, respect!
This kind music at 90's when MTV become the trendsetter with pop & rock alternative music..
What a nostalgic era..
Ah yes....120 minutes, Unplugged, and Daria. MTV was the shit back in the day.
Counting days like imm gonna die before its release...
so many cool video effects that scream the 90s and the outfits are incredible. she is just so pretty
This gives off old school vibes and I love it so much
🌺 L Y R I C S : [Verse 1]
It's been a while since I've talked about it
Maybe it's time to cooperate
I need some help to forget about it
[Pre-Chorus]
I don't want your sympathy
Stop saying you give a shit
'Cause you don't really
[Chorus]
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
[Verse 2]
It's been a while since I've thought about it
Maybe it's time to communicate
I was seven, to think about it
If I'm dead, still can't forget about it
[Pre-Chorus]
I don't want your sympathy
I guess I've had it rough
But you don't really. [Chorus]
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
[Bridge]
Oh, by the way
I'm still the same, I'm still the same
But are you the same?
Oh, by the way
I'm still the same, I'm still the same
But are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Forget about it [Pre-Chorus]
I don't want your sympathy
I guess I've had it rough
But you don't really. [Chorus]
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
Care, care, care, yeah
[Outro]
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Oh, oh
You, you
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you the same?
Are you?
This sounds like it came straight off a 2000's coming-of-age movie soundtrack. I'm obsessed.
so this is REALLY what it’s like being early
Most people: Music in 2020 sucks! There's no originality!
Me: *cackles while listening to care*
But they could also argue that this is essentially 90s music, so it doesn't count.
Heaps of music from every decade, subjectively sucks. But they all have subjectively good stuff too, including now (for pretty much all tastes).
The cardigans are crying at this comment
This is essentially copying Hatchie copying her 90s influences
LOL, yes. For me, this is like generic 90's sounds for zoomers
Filthy Little Angels But Hatchie is copying the 90s... and they both started their acts at around the same time
I'm obsessed with her sound!Love the vibe she's giving off❤️
i love this woman and everything she puts out so much
Ummm first of all, she definitely needs more recognition. She’s way too underrated. I’ve listened to her for awhile now and idk what it is about her that makes me feel like I’m young again (even though I’m still 14 lol). I love everything about bea🥺
This song blasts 90's vibes to every corner of the room.
litterly just discovered beabadoobee,
cant wait for this release!
That’s such good timing!
Good luck
Why is there dislikes? Oh you gonna dislike a premiere then just don’t watch it..
At least they gave bea a view!
Looks & sounds like something straight outta the 90's.
Me waiting 41 hours: 👁👄👁
I didnt used to like semi rock pop music, but now after hearing all the songs you released, i am so in loved with this genre now!
This song is absolutely 90s, like it had appear between 1994 and 1998. The sound is nostalgic as hell. Sounds like Julianna Hatfield or Veruka Salt. Great song. Please, more song with this kind of sound.
Came to say the same. I worked in a record store when Juliana's "My Sister" came out. Reminds me of those days.
yeah if youve heard of a band called lush she looks like the lead singer and has the same sound
@@debut71 heard of them? Sound them live twice. 🙂
@@edwardludvigsen90 nicee im jealous
she has a new album called fake it flowers and it’s mostly this type of sound !! check it out
This song is so iconic.
She is beautiful. Her style is beautiful. When I look at her face, all I want to do is to draw her. No need to mention her music... It is ALL so perfect.
日本語のコメントです!日本人で見てくれてる人いたら嬉しい。。😭❤️
SixTONESのラジオから来ました🍒めちゃくちゃいい曲ですね✨
Heard it on 104.5 in Tulsa yesterday. I was stunned. Total early 90s alternative sound. Miss that sound!
I heard it on 104.5 too!
This is definitely 90's all the way. I grew up in the 90's. The vibes are alive, and i dig it!
Bea, you might never see this, but I noticed the scene where you were smoking in a bathtub, and one where you put out your cigarette on the camera(or something above it). You can smoke and whatever and any drugs bc you do u, I still love your stuff, and a lot of great artists did a lot of drugs, and they all died really early. The smoking might change the sound of your voice entirely, so I just hope you’re careful with what you consume. Stay healthy plzzz, love u so much❤️😊
Bae if you Do see this.. Confirm that at least 1 time when you were saying "same" ; you said "are you the sun?" 🌞🤘
I love your style of music, it's like a mix of pop and rock. Nice work 😀
perhaps "pop rock" ????
Bea's sound is an absolute breath of fresh air... a new era begins!!!
THIS WAS IN MY FEED DONT GET ME EXCITED LIKE THAT BRO
I don’t even know what this sounds like but it’s already my favorite song of 2020
Reminds me of my childhood in the 90s. First time listener and now Just bought the album on vinyl 😁
i'm completely mesmerized by this artist. her songs are so raw and true, the videos are incredible as well
