Tim from Facebook here. I love the new embellishments and the fly through and graphics on the screen helped a lot with following your route. Keep it up mate!
I love this video. I used to live in Sydney and worked at Sydney International Airport. I used the Cooks River cycleway for the 5 or so years I worked at the airport and returned to cycling. I left Sydney 11 years ago and am now a resident of the ACT. You brought back some good memories. It is great they have built a new bridge at Lang Rd. I remember the old one too well. It is a shame they have put bollards up at the underpass of the Railway at Tempe. Hopefully someone will take to them with a portable angle grinder or they will rust with the king tides that have been known to flood that section occasionally. I do seem to remember a mostly off road route from where you stopped at Strathfield to Sydney Olympic Park that I used to use quite a lot (I used to ride from my place at Tempe and could go all the way to Penrith when my Girlfriend who is now my wife lived at Kingswood - you had to know the way to the Liverpool Paramatta rail trail, then the Prospect Valley Cycleway and then part of the M7 cycleway to Rooty Hill and then use quiet backroads to Penrith and Kingswood . It always was a Sunday ride). Bruce Ashley put out a book with the cycling routes that you could use to build a 100km ride.
Thanks for the comment mate. The Cooks River Cycleway is fantastic for getting to the airport. Glad I could bring back some good memories. I will hopefully do a new video from Strathfield and connect to Parramatta. Things just have been a bit hard right now but look out for a new video soon. Thanks again! 👍
I liked the idea with the written commentary of some sections, well done. I;ve only done the cooks river pathway from Tempe to Brighton Avenue Croydon Park then road through Campsie, back through Kingsgrove and back to Beverly Hills. It was when I got to Claremont St Campsie that i cramped up badly so got off the bike and walked a bit till worse part of cramp went away. Little did I know that the cramp led to a torn meniscus cartlidge at the back of my right knee about 2 days later......ouch!! But I did ride from my place in Beverly Hills to Tempe via Bexley North, Turella, Arncliffe and Wolli Creek. I'm determined to go right through to Olympic Park one day then on to Parramatta.
Thanks David. Oh no I hope you have recovered now and back on the bike. I intend to do a video to connect to Parramatta Park and the other way to Kurnell. Much appreciate the comments 👍
I don't use the shared cycle paths on the roadie. Unleased dogs, kids everywhere while I'm trying to maintain 30kmph average. It doesn't work. It's way safer on the road.
That's fair enough. I ride on the road sometimes as well. It depends but I guess this is more for those newer to the cycling scene as some are scared to ride on the road. Cheers for watching!

Every single cycling video I watch via Tempe Recreation Reserve the rider blows through the stop sign! ;)
Haha. Yeah I probably should stop there too 😅
Love the fly through at the beginning. How did you do that? I really want to ride the Cooks River Cycleway soon
Hey mate. It's done by importing thr gpx file into Google Earth and then you can put a cam on it to follow the route. Hope that helps!
@@sydneycycling8631 that's great, thanks for letting me know. Will try it out soon.
This is great! What do you use for the graphic overlays? Look Garminesque in its colourscheme.
Thanks mate. Yeah that's right Garmin Virb. Cheers!
Qantas Drive is changed now,new River path and soon to opened path to Airport
Is there a .gpx file of this route as am flying into Sydney and Stratfield is enroute to Hornsby
