      I had a large pole barn at one time and it was definitely nice, life happened and i still wanted to play cars so why not add to the challenge and plus prove it can be done with great results in a small workspace.

    That body vent is handy for lubricating the vertical track when it gets hard to roll up or down the window.

    My 1st project on my '68 was figuring out why my drivers side quarter window was loose. I managed to fix it, but it would have been easier with this video!

    Thanks Jon, seeing your blue interior sealed the deal for me. I'm going blue interior and fathom blue metallic exterior, on my 67 Lemans. I liked your convertible jokes too!

      I liked the fun Colors of the interiors of the older cars. Of course it looked correct I can’t imagine a new car with a bright blue would look like it belongs.

    I had to replace that same roller assembly to get my pass side to work properly. Now I have an electrical problem where the 4 way master switch on the driver's door will not lower either of the 2 quarter windows. They'll go up, but not down. However, the local window switches operate the quarter windows up and down just fine. Times like this make me rather have manual windows.

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  4 месяца назад +1

      I have yet to mess with the power windows on a first gen yet. From what I understand is the switch is just a power supply and the motor is grounded thru the case. If that is true it has to be master switch or both wires that goes to the rear for only the one way. The odds of two wires breaking is more rare than the switch being the malfunction. Especially since the motors work great at the rear switches. With that said I would start by testing at the switch. For poor connection or contact issues in the switch

    • @tommyspencer7891
      @tommyspencer7891 4 месяца назад +2

      @@VinylVillageGarage That's what I thought too, so I got a new switch. No change. I then took apart the plug at the back of the switch and it's just 9 wires - 8 for the 4 windows and a power wire. Didn't see anything wrong there. I'm wiring tracing tomorrow. Not fun.

    Great tutorial Jon. I have a convertible Trans AM - That is a big misconception that A/C isn't necessary in a vert LOL! I live in FL and I'm sure it's the same in any state during the summer the top down just means you're getting hot air and directly baking in the sunlight.

    Jon, do you remember where you got the quarter window chrome sash and vertical rubber seals from? I bought a set from Ames, but they fit terrible. The seals were angled in so much the window barely made contact. I put the old seals and rusty chrome pieces back on. Yours look like they fit as they should. Thanks.

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  4 месяца назад +1

      I looked in my purchase history and I didn’t find anything. I know they are new when I did this car but that would have been over 5 years ago now. I also was purchasing a lot of parts from Ames and summit racing at that time so there is a good chance I got them from summit which means they would have been OER brand

      @@VinylVillageGarage Thank you for looking back Jon. One thing I've found discouraging is when you call up some of these aftermarket parts places and ask what brands they sell, they won't tell you. I'm learning very quick which places value customer service.

    Great video. It looks like the convertible regulator is hydraulic, based on what it looks like hydraulic transparent lines with some fluid. I know nothing about convertibles but curious to know if I am right or my old eyes are deceiving me.

    Could you have used some loctite on the roller stud?

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage  4 месяца назад +2

      Probably not a bad idea. Normally these nuts are seized up and don’t come loose. From a service stand point loctite isn’t a good idea because risk of damage to the glass if you need to remove but just as much of an issue if
      It falls out.
