While I do like the red accents more than the all blacked-out one that I have however I do prefer the S45VN steel that mine is wearing.... Also the price jumped slightly to $199 but I do believe it I'd a very limited run of 5 or 600 only but I may be wrong on that, I have the 112 in S30V and marbled carbon fiber which I do know is limited to 600pcs and I own two of them so 598 lol

I love Buck. I own 89 knives, many of them high-end Microtechs, Benchmades, Spydercos and ProTechs. Bucks however strike the perfect balance of quality and pricepoint for me. My first knife, which I saved for and bought for 25.00 in 1980 was a Buck 119 and it still holds up today. Their BOS heat-treat is superior and I love supporting US companies. While they don't get everything right all the time, and they have plenty of knives that just don't do it for me, they will always have a soft spot in my heart. Feel better soon MC!

I use this knife. I love the jimping myself. It's not great for slicing straight down, but if you're cutting at an angle you may find that the jimping is kind of genius. Most knife guys are cutting straight lines to open up packages of new knives or cardboard. In real life use though...the jimping isn't as useless as it appears at first glance. Great review. Thanks

When it comes to USA made knives, I am willing to pay a 10-15% premium over a foreign made folder with like materials. That being considered, I think 105 for the s30v/micarta is absolutely a fair price. When you add to that the Bos heat treat and Buck's warranty, it helps tip the scales towards being a good value.

I agree 100 percent. Just not sure the grind is thin enough. It’s good it’s a hollow grind. But still looks pretty thick

    • @JustIn-op6oy
      @JustIn-op6oy 2 года назад

@@theknifeconnection9571 from the ones I've seen they aren't that bad. Though I think I may be giving buck some slack on their thickness behind the edge since they've improved dramatically from the thick hollow ground 110s. I have one from the late 70s when they were still using 440c blades and it's an oddly done hollow grind. I put a more acute edge angle and took the bevel up a bit further which made a drastic difference. I don't think their newest stuff requires that sort of edge modification.

I'm not willing to pay that much more. I was interested in the Select model of the Sprint but $60 is way too steep for 420HC and FRN scales. I miss the 345 Vantage Select...it was a solid value for $30.

Bought mine in 2/22 and it immediately became my EDC. I lost it on the farm and went crazy trying to find it... no joy and almost immediately ordered a replacement. None of my previous EDC's would do!! About a week after receiving the replacement my sister in law found the original sitting right where I left it after cutting up some boxes for the trash. So my Sprint Pro brown burlap Macarta is back home where it sits so well.... and BONUS, I now have a spare.
There is nothing that I don't like about it after over a year of EDC! The pocket clip is raised up on the end just enough so it's very smooth to clip it on thick jean pockets! No hot spot for me!!
I damaged the Macata scale and asked Buck service to send me a new one.... they said send it in and well put a new one on for you. I sent it in with a check for $15 and they replaced the scale, polished, cleaned and sharpened her up.... back in my pocket in less than two weeks!! Great knife and great service!! Buck Rocks!

Spot on MC, saw the Micarta version at Cabelas a month ago and couldn’t pass it up. The pocket clip falls into a part of my hand that just doesn’t cause any hot spots. Still worry about walking to close to the truck though, bad habit. Buck, Case and SOG have bumped up their game with modern folders. C’mon Gerber your turn!😂

I like my buck sprint a lot. Hollow grind makes it nice and slicey for its overall thickness. Buck does a great factory edge… on par with hogue. Surprised you like it as you said considering it’s a buck lol.

I really like the design- especially the scale contouring. If it was thumb studs instead of a flipper I really be on board. But still nice nevertheless.

I'd love for Buck to do some more collaborations with G&G Hawk. Their Marksman was just mwah. Buck needs to work on their QA though, relying on people to take advantage of the warrantee instead of doing it right the first time isn't on.

People overlook BUCK for the reason you mentioned. We know BUCK for their "old hunting knfie style". Who knew they were "modernizing the look" to appeal to the EDC crowd.?
Don't know if Spyderco and Benchmade knives have the same "KICK out " on delolying the blade. I have the old 2011 Paragim Pro. w/ detent. Kicks out with AUTHORITY. Wondering if knives from Spyderco and Benchmade havet he same KICK....only CON? It's a 2 handed close....you feel the spring even on the close..closes with a satisfying CLICK....like a pistol mech.
Love the "bolster lock" idea. For deploying/closing. Also functions as a "safety" preventing anyone who shouldn't be playing with the knife from deploying the blade e.g. non-knife people and kids.
Now if they would offer CF, Ti and Alu on the Paradigm Shift knives.

So 160$ for this well made knife made right here in the USA is an issue to you but you’ll buy a $500 China made knife no problem lol. IMO I didn’t mind paying the extra for the CF Vs the micarda because it’s still a great value. The only thing I’m going to do is take the red finish off the clip because it’s just a little too much red for me.
