It's a great device, I mean, I had to tweak the fps according to the games I played most of the time as per requirement. This time, I handpicked the games to play rather than playing some random ps2 games for the name sake of playing. Most of these games except for the ps2 exclusives were the games I used to play a lot on my pc back in the day, right after I reach home after school 😄 especially max payne 2, hulk and nfs ug2.
It can actually play PS2 games (not all), but its not really intended for that, but having a feature is a bonus, where it shines through is on PSP, PSX and to name the rest, GameCube, Dreamcast, N64 anything below PS2 runs very well.
Anbernic really threw down with the rg505. I still have my ps2 but having a portable ps2 is pretty awesome. Midnight club 3 is Really awesome and happy to see it on this video. Mortal kombat Armageddon is my favorite on ps2 and Xbox. Scarface would be awesome to see on this device. Simpsons hit and run is still sweet after 20 years. The ps2 is still one of my favorites to play and collect for. Gta vice city is great and brings me back to the 1980's. I'm debating if I should buy the rg505 or rg405. I would like to play ps2 on the go.

I did tweak the settings to get a smoother gameplay according to the games I played, some were working perfectly without any change in settings. Anbernic RG505 is definitely an underrated handheld! 🔥
Hi there, I have the version v1.4-3060, on the settings, under system- Multi-threaded vu1 is on Instant vu1 is on I turned the enable frame limit option off Rest were not changed, if you ask me, nfsug2 is playable but not in the full speed, and ofcourse the audio will be not in sync and would go very fast in this settings 😄 as a compromise to faster gameplay. There must be several files in that, one of them should work. This happened to me too. It was very irritating. Once I found the working bios file in the folder, the rest were working. If you found the bios folder, try every file in it one by one. If it still doesn't work, I'll try to do a tutorial video this week. Let's see.

I have only changed framerate under system options, the normal I set to 140-150 fps, that really boosted the gameplay, but the same time, the sound and dailogs obviously were playing Super fast than normal.

@@bigretrostudio how playable is it like do you think you could genuinly sit down and play these games for hours and not having to eorry about big lag/slowdown and does it run higher/less then the rg405m and have you tested the 405m with gammaos?

It's definitely worth the upgrade for playing ps2 games. You can take my word for it. I wouldn't say gamma os can make the entire ps2 games playable, but some of the games that were laggy on stock os have much better performance with gamma os installed.
As far as I know, the new Aya Neo 2 can run GOW 3 well. Even the steam deck won't be able to run at full speed. Once I get one of those, I will surely test it out 👍🏻
In terms of hardware its borderline on what the unit can do, you will be able to run some games but the problem will be how well it will run each which means lots of manual configuration to get each game that runs to run the best it can and even then there are some that just can't reach playable frame rates no matter what settings you use. For something like Gran Turismo 4 on the PS 2 it might slow down too much. The unit was designed with consoles up to PSX, N64, GameCube and Dreamcast in terms of specs so even if you can run some PS2 games well we are asking too much out of that SOC. I'm planning to mess around with wii emulation on this once mine gets delivered in the mail so I will probably add the reply if it goes well in a few weeks.

@hspets4467 This video was made 9 months back when I got into emulation. Try to watch my retroid pocket 2s ps2 game testing video, I have mentioned my settings pinned in the comments section. All those that worked well on that would be playable on this too.
That is one of my 1st gameplay videos on a t618 device. It's equally capable as rg405m. I tested out 100 ps2 games on another video i uploaded please use that as a reference for this device too.

You would just have to select a file in the bios folder 1st in your ps2 folder, and then it will automatically detect the games you put in.
