I like Simon...... When I was a schoolgirl, in England, my reports always said they I was too forthright!! I'm 74 now, and guess what.....I haven't changed much.
I still remember when he did American Idol in 2002 and the USA was not ready for this man. I sometimes wondered and though he was too cruel but look at his track record. His Stars have been some of the most successful. Even Diddy didn't achieve that with his Group Da Band. He showed it's not what you know but "who" you know. He followed Pete Waterman around like a "Punk" and look where he is now. He's like the Victor Newman of Music. Always keeping his eye on the Ball. Can you imagine if those two talked about how they built their fortunes their setbacks but what they achieved. I still remember the first group of kids who were let go on American Idol and they were crushed. Some looked as they wanted to cry but he saw them, they weren't good enough and not one came back to prove Simon wrong. It hasn't been as good since he left. Also if he did Jeopardy, he would have ripped every contestant to shreds.
When he gave US TV Icon Dick Clark a Lifetime Emmy Award, he was booed and that got me very angry. He achieved what most UK Folks would have loved to have achieved. He became a Superstar on American Soil. Nobody knows who Pete Waterman or Louis Walsh are but they know he is.

Oh absolutely! Both of them, have done so much for The UK Pop Music Scene. He showed that if you really want something badly enough and you put your heart and mind to it, you can make it. He had his share of setbacks, but he picks himself up and tries again.
Simon was bankrupt, totally lost everything, then he picked himself up, that's why he encourages people to come back, after they failed, he did it, and so can they..
Simon many times need to be sincere. He needs to evaluate technically and not emotionally. He is misunderstood many times but he is sincere. His comments in terms of music are right in the spot. If was your money that you need to invest in one of the contestants you would probably have a different opinion.
