I don't know about that. He seemed pretty angry when Emma opened the portal. My guess is he wanted to keep her there just until she told him about Bae. That's why he let her go after she told him. Killian he probably didn't care about either way and he couldn't risk killing them for fear of messing up the future.
Considering Rumple has a limited view of the future based on acquiring the power of the oracle, I also wouldn’t put it past him. I mean, when Emma finally gets the wand to work, Rumple sees her one last time. Had he meant for them to be his permanent prisoners, he wouldn’t have come back for them.
@@faithkidwell9757 She did die. But remember, she was revived when Rumple made the author rewrite everyone to have a bad ending and to make him a hero. She was accidentally given her powers back.

Rumple never really killed her when he stabbed her...she outsmarted him by turning into ceramic, which she knew he would shatter, but her life force had left by then. Remember, her life AND magic was dependent on her necklace. Essentially, she was tetered to the necklace like the darkness is to the dagger. But she also had a four leaf clover/crystal that she harnessed some of her magic into as a backup when traveling realms. And when her body was shattered her life force was in the necklace given to her by Glinda n followed Emma into the time portal, which she reignited. She figured out Emma's plan while in the time portal n it's why she killed Marian to come back. This is what allowed her to have magic in the real world under the guise of Marian, her four leaf clover/Crystal around her neck, after crossing the town line. She only has enough magic of what is in that crystal. We find this out in episode 17.
