For fifty years, Keith Richards has been "the straw that stirs the drink" for that institution that we know as 'The Rolling Stones'. He has more credibility than any other artist, in any field, amongst the legends in their own genres. Despite what goes on around him and any pressures to mold his character, Keith is true to himself, his band, and the music that he loves. And that is what we love the most about him. Thank you, Keith Richards, for making this world a better place...
Keith is without doubt the stepping stone from the Blues Legends as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf , Buddy Guy and Rock N Roll master Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones brought this music into the public eye & helped them to regain the recognition they all richly Deserved. ✌️

I am Keith Richards' greatest fan in the world. But give James Cotton some credit. He had to follow Little Walter into Muddy Waters' band, and had a great career a lot of people don't know about.
James Cotton used to play the Joyous Lake in Woodstock. He and Paul Butterfield used to jam on stage. Cotton had the biggest chromatic harmonica I've ever seen. They made great music together.
Y’all don’t forget about the legendary Steve Jordan behind the drums. Played with Keith since the 80s, along with James Taylor, Clapton, now with Mayer, Robert Cray and, his own guys.
James Cotton is one of the giants of blues harp. First saw him in Muddy Waters band and several times with his own band. That band was dynamite. It is too bad his voice was damaged and he was retired as a headliner.

I learned to play blues harmonica by listening to blues albums starting with the James Cotton album, 100% Cotton. I’ve seen James Cotton perform and chatted with James Cotton a few times. So I appreciate this nice, little video upload, perhaps more than most. Thanks for sharing !
Now this one´s great! Pure Blues ... the Stones ought to play this stuff more often - in small venues. That´s what the die-hard fans long to hear - not the warhorses over and over again ...
You're so lucky! I got to speak with him for quite some time at a harminica showcase where my husband's band was also on the bill (we're in San Luis Obispo, CA) and he really is just the nicest, sweetest man. Also incredibly charismatic and a fantastic musician.
Nice, man. I was fortunate enough to have actually met Hubert & heard him play up close about 10 years ago...he was a VERY humble, down to earth, kind hearted man, and an absolutely incredible blues guitarist. It's nice to see other luminaries pay their respect.
Oh, you didn't hear? The virtue-signaling puritans have declared KR the main cause of climate change and seek to replace all his music with Taylor Swift.
@@hollisbrown645 Because the blues were created by Black plantation workers as a direct result of field hollers they chanted to help get them through miserably hot days pickin' cotton in Mississippi. You don't know, you weren't there, but I doubt you'd want to experience what they did so you could LEARN what the Blues are truly about. It's the simple things that make this type of music so enjoyable, like the way Mr Cotton keeps the 3 note riff going while Mr Richards figures out with the rhythm guys what's happening next. Those cute little high notes ain't always easy to hit comfortably on the harp.
Keith gives James plenty of space. There seems to be mutual respect here. I 've seen Cotton plenty of times--time has taken its toll. Shame to see people making snap judgements about "authenticity" and the like. Most people who make blanket comments wouldn't recognize authenticity if it cam up and gnawed both cheeks off.
Earls Pearl Yes he plays great acoustic watch the promo video of "Angie", him & Keith sitting side by playing guitars with roses in them. Then there is a second promo where Keith plays acoustic & Taylor plays piano
Chaliq Biomed oh, thanx . most real musicians play several instruments .Page got his pro start in studios as a bass man .I really appreciate the info as I base most of my playing on Elvis , Beatles and Stones . IM just a big fan of the old Delta Hootnanny style . I almost forgot to mention Jim Burton and Don Rich .they really get me going . hope you have a nice day .
Earls Pearl Yeah I think the only guy that could play more instruments was Brian. Yep & ha plays that pedal steel slide guitar as good as the guys who do it for a living. Did you see the Blues songs I posted on Google + of him & Taylor playing together. 2 really good friends that compliment all of their talents playing old blues classics & share the stage together. Ronnie plays harmonica as well as Jagger considering he singing & playing guitar at the same time. I only posted the ones that were videos but there is an album called Ronnie Wood & Mick Taylor at the Troubador..
he always played in open G tuning without the first string, so they make him custom 5 string guitars, hence the 6 strings version of the 12 string, the 10 string
I met James Cotton after a show in Kentucky one time, I got his autograph and we took pictures and hung out! He was a real cool man and he even waved to me during the show (I was right in front of him, and the closest person to him at the entire show, it was just a small blues festival and was outside)

Well said.
Thank you Keith and James ❤️❤️
Keith means to me the best of the english true blues , well done man Xavièr Labmer .
You really feel that while reading his memoir. Beautifully raw stuff
This is some damn good blues, I always loved Keith’s voice!
His harmonies on exile make the record for me personally never noticed it really when I was younger hearing it later I was like damn go on keith
I literally bowed to my PC monitor when this ended. Thank you Keith & James for this powerful gift.

James Cotton came to play music in our little Port city and I was one of the lucky ones who got to witness his soulful sounds. So lucky!
Me too in Connecticut way back and got to meet him and my cousin has one of his harps
Been lovin me some james Cotton for nearly 40 years now. Been loving me some Stones and keith Richards for even longer
Everyone in that room is phenomenal! Thank-You for posting this!
I am Keith Richards' greatest fan in the world. But give James Cotton some credit. He had to follow Little Walter into Muddy Waters' band, and had a great career a lot of people don't know about.
Jeez. Keith has always been grounded in the blues. The best of the Stones comes out of this (thank you Mick Taylor).
James Cotton used to play the Joyous Lake in Woodstock. He and Paul Butterfield used to jam on stage. Cotton had the biggest chromatic harmonica I've ever seen. They made great music together.

All the way through I kept thinking ‘who’s that drummer, he is so in the groove’ . Sure enough... Steve Jordan...fabulous!
Love Steve Jordan!!!
See Hail Hail Rock and Roll the tribute to Chuck Berry back in 1986. Keith got Steve Jordan as the drummer and the friendship endures.
Ya, that is fabulous Steve Jordan 😎👏👍
dont forget the wonderful blues brothers!
James Cotton is one of the giants of blues harp. First saw him in Muddy Waters band and several times with his own band. That band was dynamite. It is too bad his voice was damaged and he was retired as a headliner.
Keith performs this classic so well, and added bonus with James Cotton.
This video is about Mr. Cotton. Thank you, Keef for enlightening us.

Keith doesn’t play a guitar he picks it up and magically great sounds appear! Awesome!
That's Keith's custom 10 string, open G without the low E string(s). He mentions it in "Life"
I was browsing the comments to see if anyone else noticed. Good job!

Cotton is amazing. His one chorus at 4:13 says it all...even his first long note.

Mr. Richards knows all the precise moments to NOT play. These spaces provide so much emphasis and anticipation. Brilliant.

Walter Tacey Absolutely.Mix it up a bit.
Ah, but they fill large venues at high ticket prices by playing the warhorses. Fortunately, they have so many they can really mix up the set lists.
