My grandmother got me a shirt which was too small so she sent me a new one, which is a men's medium. Mind you I am a young teenage girl who's 5'0" and is due to stop growing.
Tip: If you do this, and it ends up being to small, get a bowl with ice cold water + some ice cubes, put 1 cup hair conditioner in the bowl, and then put the shirt in, it will end of getting a little bigger :)

I did wash the hoodie how I’d normally wash my clothes just to see if that’d shrink it any first but it didn’t so I followed what she did without soaking it in boiling water beforehand and my hoodie did end up shrinking some. Not as much as I hoped but it also may just be how the company I bought the hoodie from makes their clothing!

Just some notes for myself 0:19 Put clothes in sink 0:22 Boil water on the stove in a teapot or a pot 0:30 when the water is boiling, pour it in your clothes 0:39 let clothes sit until the hot water is cool 0:52 ring out your clothes a little bit 1:05 Put your clothes in the washing machine with the hottest setting possible. After put them in the dryer on hottest setting
This depends on the fabric. Polyester fabrics will start to melt around 230°F. Boiling water is 220°F. So I recommend letting that water cool off for a couple of minutes. Then put it in the dryer for 10-15 minute intervals on the highest heat setting. Make sure your dryer is not going to be over 180°F though. Polyester is a plastic and can melt. Even if it's a polyester/cotton blend I would still keep a close eye on it. Do one garment by itself. When putting in washing machine turn the garment inside out. No detergent is necessary.

Some clothing brands and garments are pre-washed so it won’t get much smaller. Some brands do advertise this but it’s probably the case that this one wasn’t 👍

It depends on the type of knit or weave in the fabric. Some cotton clothes, wont shrink even a bit despite near boiling water. What it achieved was bleeding some colors out.
Can you go straight from the soaking in boiling water to wringing and putting in the dryer, or does the extra step of washing in the washer do something?

The boiling point of water at sea level is 212°F. Did you sleep through that class? Also, polyester melts at 260°C (that's 500°F).
