Back in 1996-98, I worked at automotive engineering company on Stevenson just south of 12 Mile Rd., but lived in Warren east of Van Dyke. My work shift started at 3:00 PM, and could either be a ten or eleven hour shift. So I would leave work to go home many times after midnight.
Almost every time as soon as I cross into Warren, I would be tailed by a cop. Most of the time the cop would follow me to my apartment. Half the time the cops, as there was always a minimum of three cops present, would confront me as I'm leaving my car, and would have to question me as to why I'm out driving around.
The final straw, was when three Warren cops followed me all the way to my apartment, and I was caring my lunch tote, and a copy of a musicians magazine called BASS PLAYER, the senior cop asked me in a rather denigrating tone, and I quote, "What the f**k is Bass Player ?" as the cop pronounced the magazine as Bass like the fish, which made me laugh at his ignorance as the magazine had a bass guitar on the cover. This sociopathic cop held me up for almost an hour, just to make sure I didn't have any warrants. Which I did not, as I'm not a miscreant.
That was the final straw. So the next day I went to the mayors office, where I spoke to the deputy mayor, as the current mayor was at that time in hiding because he was charged with criminal assault on a minor at a little league softball game. So that was already plastered all over the TV news from the local and major newspapers. That is when I informed the deputy mayor that I will be bringing a public lawsuit against the city and the police department for continual harassment by the Warren police department simply because I return home from work many of time after midnight. I wrote down on a piece of paper the brand, model, color, and the license plate number of my car, and told her that she needs to call the chief of police and tell him to leave me alone, or I will sue the city, and the police department, and make it very public.
Apparently complaining to City Hall in person does make a difference, because the cops never followed me home, or bothered me after that.

My sisters and my brothers this is what so unfortunate about black cops in positions of authority and positions of power, they do the same BS to Black people that races white cops do, and they walk away Scott free. And the taxpayers from city to city foot, the bill, while the cop continues to get a better position on another police department, and then when they do the same thing there as in this case he gets fired and it cost that $400,000, and the crime took place against the citizen didn’t even happen in their jurisdiction. So what does this say about these cops?, Black, white and any other race who breaks the law continuously and our allowed to go from the department to the department until they either kill someone and end of church with the felony with hundreds of thousands of dollars and then some cases millions of dollars and settlements and lawsuits, that the taxpayers always end up covering. And is never going to end as long as elected officials sit on the sidelines knowing the cops are doing this stuff and don’t change the loss on the local level, and as long as we the citizens don’t vote and don’t the men, that when these rogue cops break the law that they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and they are fired from the police department. I’ve always said, and I stand on this, I support unions in every single way possible because I know for a fact, good unions are needed to assure quality wages, and safe environment for people to work in, but no union such as fraternal orders of police and police unions should have more power than the elected officials and we the people. It shouldn’t be so hard to get rid of bad cops and to make sure that they never work on another police department ever again when the behavior is egregious, illegal and causes taxpayers hundred and thousands of millions of dollars.
