- Jennette McCurdy opens up about feeling exploited as a child actor and how her time on Nickelodeon’s ‘iCarly’ still affects her today. In her new memoir, ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died,’ the actress recalls having a complicated relationship with her mother, Debra, and reflects on experiences that flew under the radar as she played the role of Sam on ‘iCarly.’ Co-star Miranda Cosgrove spoke out to ‘The New York Times’ about working on set with Jennette amid her recent claims.

The fact that her OWN mother was there and knew exactly what was happening, but didn’t even try to help protect Jennette when she was being exploited makes me sick.
Absolutley sickening!! Jennette did an interview once where she stated that she had been acting since 6, and that her mother never set up her Coogan Account so everything she made as a child was spent. The Coogan Account would of put 15% of each paycheck away for when she turned 18; instead she saw none of it....
@@mandeedee2778 call me crazy, but I feel like her mom didn’t file that Coogan account ON PURPOSE. Like she did it for a reason, that it may not have been inconvenience.

What was it exactly that wss happening?? Lol you must have forgot to mention in your rage. A child actor isnt abuse. Carly/miranda was on the same exact set and hasn't said a word. So was it her mother abusing her or was it nickelodeon abusing her and her mother standing by? Which is it??
Poor Jennette, she was basically shoved into show business from an early age with the intention of being the main provider. It really makes you think of the rotten side of show business, especially for child actors. I'm glad that she's in a better mental state now.
Plus Sam Puckett was a character so evil with her possessive crush on Freddie Benson (m.ruclips.net/video/i-eWhtSZ2oY/видео.html) that it’s very unjust that Sam would be the one getting all the love while Jennette would be getting all the hate from Nickelodeon fangirls that are all like “HOW COULD YOU?!?!?!” to her as of 2014 when Sam & Cat got cancelled (let’s just face it. Schneider’s Bakery was created by a racist rapist, and because of the Nickelodeon-level quality of the shows themselves, it shows).

Everybody on the cast of iCarly seems very very down to earth. It's actually really refreshing. 💞 I'm so glad that she finally gets to speak her truth

I'm glad that she and her co-stars seem to have a good relationship and they don't badger her about coming on the show.
If someone has their reasons for not doing something and they have strong convictions in making their decision, it's very insensitive to badger them in the hope of changing their mind. Glad her co-stars didn't make a big stink of it - and even if they secretly don't like her decision they're at least being diplomatic and tactful when asked. I've seen people bully others in real life and forcing them to change their minds and it makes me sick. Let them live!

I can't stand parents who have a dream, but are either too lazy or too cowardly to make it happen for themselves so they try to make their dream happen through their children ignoring the fact that their children are their own person, and never asked them what they truly wanted.
I hope that Jeanette McCurdy is doing alright, and finally free.

@@aliabdelaziz905 she was still likely abused by Dan Schneider. You see in several behind the scene clips (Victorious) where Ariana looks scared and Liz pulls down her skirt/is protective of her.
I didn't even like iCarly growing up and I feel incredibly awful for Jennette. Stage moms are the worst.

Rather sad that Jennette was shoved into the show business. And it wasn't like she can force change like how Dwayne Johnson said Hollywood will conform to him. It's very sad to see actors like Macaulay Culkin forced in the show business for money and/or reputation.
In a cruel twist of fate however, had both Jennette McCurdy and Macaulay Culkinnot and countless kids been forced, we would not get amazing shows like iCarly and Home Alone. Not excusing the actions the parents did to them.
To be honest I loved Sam and Jennette McCurdy when I was young. I thought she was really cute and sexy. It honestly feels like yesterday when I was young and I missed that so much. I felt horrible at first when she said she is proud her mom died. How could someone say that? I hope Sam or Jennette feels better and can now finally live happy and free! As the new sun comes up and a new day, a new you is born.

She knew. There was a blind on CDAN a few years back about Miranda after the show ended. She had a hard time in college due to her “experiences” with Dan Schneider. She probably took money from Nickelodeon to keep quiet.

Bart Millard (the lead singer of Mercyme) didn't have the best dad but how Bart describes him as a monster turn into a man who he wanted to be through the light of Jesus Christ. So due to that inspiration he wrote 'I can only imagine'. My advice to give to Jennete is to forgive all the people who wronged her no matter her beliefs because Forgiveness is the freedom to move forward.
So my daughter loved Icarly so I ended up seeing many episodes of the show. I said more than once that Sam looked unhappy and lost during episodes. I just wonder why nobody on the show bothered to help that CHILD.
