The way John listen to his wife is just a pure gold. Massive respect for someone like that.

Yes he does but she doesn’t . Their chemistry feels off. Anyone else sense that? Watch how little attention she pays to him

I notice that they lean into each other with ease and acceptance.. great modeling...

Very interesting conversation about the importance of true connection! Also, interesting statistics about why relationships fall apart. I'm realizing how important it is not only to be truly present with my partner, but how important it is to be truly present with myself. Thank you for your insightful questions and commentary Jason!

There will always be someone smarter, better looking, exciting, stronger, secure, and/or any multitude of characteristics than you, but no one should ever outperform you in turning towards your partner, you have 100% control over that. Much love to these two.

Quitè a wonderful conversation with John & Julie Gottman. I've been wishing for more touch in the relationship...now I will ask for it and explain why! And...yes, an Irish family. I had no idea I might be dealing with that trauma from time of The Troubles, 3 generations ago.Thank you very much.

I just downloaded the cards but I don't see anything that addresses older relationships for people starting over as a widow, widower or divorced after 50 - 60yr olds?

Interesting discussion about generational trauma affects present day relationships because it has been hidden away by the family and not talked about.

      "Trauma" is bullshit.
I've seen it in practice with my four sisters.
They started from early age treated man like crap.
Of course it was supported by other girls, mommy and female teachers.
      Finally conscience started to talk.
They have guilt feelings after years of being human garbage.
Any complaint towards those four girls turns on strong feeling of guilt.
      They traumatized themselves.
I'm not sorry for them at all similarly for other women. They are guilty themselves for their trauma.
Can you behave towards men like average woman and feel good? 😂
I've become disgusted also by sexist attitude where as a man I'm a violent abuser until proven innocent.
After a couple of "therapeutic sessions" I failed for divorce.
I had enough of being insulted by "therapist".
I can guarantee that more and more marriages will dissolve with therapy being more popular.
It's all about giving "understand" to human garbage.
I don't have any trauma. You know why?
      Because I've treated people decently.
Not like an average woman cheered by female friends.

It’s just her personality though? He’s a grown up and can speak up anytime 😸 I’ve seen talks where he also does that more often. So seems happy for me.

Should we go on dates now that we are married?
We haven't been on a date for 16 years except for funerals and weddings.

Very worthwhile information. Visual setup needs improvement...they look so uncomfortable bending down into the camera. Wonderful people and their content is excellent. Constructive criticism of the setup only.
Not important, only they really do look uncomfortable.

I agree Julie needs to let John speak and also I wish she wouldn’t speak in such a lecturing type of voice. John if he could get a word in is much easier to listen to but I get tense because I know he will be silenced in no time. Please leave space for 50/50 share of airspace.
