This is amazing! I didn't know there was a fracture in 2.8!! Can you try doing a crumbling statue, my attempts at making very small shards results in intersection, causing the sculpture to explode from the beginning?

instead of using the monkey or another object could u not use a force field to explode the fracture? Just animate the force as the character hits it?

I really want to make short animations as a hobby and blender seems great but the rendering times seem crazy.
Matthew Barnes that is so true, I had given up on 3D too because of render times until eevee, it’s not the most realistic render but I guess that’s a compromise I can live with
Look into e-cycles or just use eevee.
