You aren't bad. Luigi is simply too good for your understanding.
I've noticed a few people saying this is broken but I don't agree.
1) The auto-turning keeps you from falling into pits or getting stuck on walls, but it can't make precise time-saving turns and it can't drift, so it's not even close to a substitute for human input.
2) The auto-accelerate doesn't really make a difference because all it's replacing is the necessity to hold down the A button for three minutes at a time. It accomplishes exactly the same thing.
They're just tools to make the game more accessible to people who struggle with Mario Kart normally (very young children, people with hand problems, etc.). It doesn't seem to accomplish anything that skilled players haven't already mastered, so I don't see the abuse potential.
ZeroJanitor exactly...people complain about it when you'll get shit on online. Doesn't help u in any way other than teaching young children how to not fall off cliffs lol
Smart Steering also disables ultra mini-turbos (the purple sparks), so there's also a direct penalty for using it. Yeah, this feature may cover some mistakes, but you're hampering your potential using it.
Auto-acceleration seems fine. The steering, however, is most of the game. Plus, as someone who hates the drifting, I feel threatened by an AI that can take my place.

you play games to over come challenges and get good at it. not for a npc to hold your hand and fix your mistakes that YOU make and need to fix your self.
i used to have this 3rd party wii game called "build and race" i didnt build racing tracks much and played the premade ones. sadly, the ai was trash. they went coded right and easy to pass. it wasnt fun because i wasn't doing anything to actually earn my wins. when i play mario kart, the ai is amart and i feel like ive actually done something to win. and when i lose i know what i did wrong and i try to fix my problems (bad drift timing resulting in bumping into walls, driving too straight and getting drafted, and other things) its fun to actually win with your skill and its fun to laugh at your mistakes. theres no mistakes to laugh at or pride in your skill coming out of using this retarded mode and it should be banned off of online mode because its basically cheating. ironic that nintendo come out with botw then make this trash right after. its olny useful for luigi memes an 4-5 year olds

They said he was a "waste of a spot". But Ludwig never gave up. He tried and tried until the big race. After a shaky start, he finally got his ground and started getting higher and higher in places. People in the crowd were cheering him on; "LUDWIG! LUDWIG!" He finally had made it to third, and only had Luigi, and the one who took his spot as heir to the throne, Bowser Jr. It was the final lap, all downhill from here. Then, an opening came up. Ludwig dashed past Luigi...!

You know somethings wrong with your AI when the only AI that wins doesn't use items/coins ,drift , do tricks or bump into walls.
Exactly. The AI in this game is terrible, it's been a recurring thing with Mario Karts since Wii.
The only AI here is the auto-accelerate and the turning thing. The items are supposed to be player control; pressing the button would make your character use the item. But since this is Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing, Derrick or Andre or whoever was controlling didn't use them.
Well when it is set to the easiest difficulty.
Even 100 CC is piss easy, constantly being far ahead of my opponents and getting three stars in every cup I play with first try. That wasn't the case in MK7, the AI was much closer to my tail and a single blue shell often ruined the entire cup for me. Now in MK8D I'm always so far ahead of the AI that a blue shell doesn't really stop me from getting first.
Vexatron Primal Might want to consider how many times they tried this before it worked. I'd bet double digits easily.
I feel like Nintendo made these features just so this could happen.

I think you basically use self steering for 200cc to not fall off
It doesn't really "work" in cups higher than 50cc. You can still drive off edges if you go too fast or boost off of it.
