    Yes, please do a Guerlain video. I agree with your declutter choices! I too love classic Guerlain, and love Black Perfecto like you, but the rest of that range have me befuddled- yes- too sweet!! I have sold 10 of my fragrances that bored me and am selling a few more. :)

  • @MaryGraceFahrun

    Except for Vol de Nuit, my favourite of all the GUERLAINs. I'm grateful that Guerlain still makes it available, albeit significantly watered down in the current bee bottle, but I love it so much that even watered down Vol de Nuit EdT is better than no Vol de Nuit. I have half a 90 ml refill of VdN EdT from the eighties that I cherish.
    And regarding minimalism and owning/loving many perfumes and makeup, to me minimalism is about only owning a curated collection (regardless of quantity) of what I love and use.

    Great video! I've been decluttering my perfumes for about a year now. I've gotten rid of over 50 of them at this point and am very happy with what I have left. I may even go a bit smaller with my collection. Once you start letting them go, the ones who don't belong, slowly but surely, become more obvious. So I just take my time and try not to rush myself. Just like anything else, it is a process.

    • @BeautyNotes
      @BeautyNotes  5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely. It is most useful to focus on the fragrances you love and pay attention to ones that are just not getting any use. Those are rationally the ones that are less likely to "belong" (excellent way that you put it in your comment!)

    Love your review of the Shalimars. I've only been disappointed with more recent releases from Guerlain. Their reputation rests on their history but not on their current releases.

      Search the channel, Souffle de Parfum has been reviewed by me previously. E&J are keeping the black, white, rose and bourbon as far as I know. black is by far their best scent :) it's available on Sephora.

    Great declutter! Watching you do yours helped encourage me to do my own so thank you! 🥰 If you are a fan of Angel EDP but it’s a bit too heavy for you, I highly recommend Angel EDT. It’s a much lighter, fresher version but still maintains that unique original Angel DNA. 💕Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend!

    I saw a video of yours where you said Shalimar Souffle was the best perfume to ever grace your collection & that you were on your second bottle. Did your first bottle not turn metallic on you?

    • @BeautyNotes
      @BeautyNotes  5 лет назад

      Difficult to remember as it was YEARS ago. I think it did have the aftertaste I was referring to even then for me, but I did not mind it much at the time. I think I was still enamoured with Guerlain in general and Shalimar in particular and thought I just needed to acclimatize to the harshness. But as I wore it longer I realized that I really did dislike the aftertaste, and so I decluttered by almost-full bottle. I tried to make it work for a year and a bit after I re-bought it but we just couldn't get along.

      BeautyNotes I came here to ask the same question as above! Have you tried Shalimar Cologne? Fragrantica reviews mention it’s a bit “old fashioned” like Shalimar EDT yet it has the same coldness and lemon meringue vibe as SDP. I like SDP I’m using a decant currently but not sure if I should pick up a bottle of it or Cologne.

    • @BeautyNotes
      @BeautyNotes  5 лет назад

      Sorry for missing your question, I completely forgot to respond and then never went back to this. My first bottle was a small size (but not a sample size!) I got at a beauty event I attended, and I could swear it was different! It is also possible my sense of scent has changed after my pregnancy. But I found Souffle utterly unwearable this time around. I tried my darnedest to give it a chance, but it did not sit right on me anymore. My review was largely based on my feeling about the previous bottle, as you can see this one is basically full (a re-purchase). That's the tea :)

    • @BeautyNotes

      @@aquababy5 , I own the EDC and EDP both. My absolute preference is EDP (well, it is actually parfum initial if we are being completely fair here) but I agree that the classic EDP and EDC are basically sisters. If you want a lighter less dense approach, and you enjoy the parfum, you will likely be fond of the cologne.

    Yay a perfume video! I can’t stand Shalimar Soufflé either, but I really love Soufflé Intense. I feel like Guerlain perfected the formula with that one, similar to how they improved on La Petite Robe Noir with Black Perfecto. They just release too much, stuff that in years gone by would never have seen the light of day rather than taking the time to do one good release.

    • @BeautyNotes
      @BeautyNotes  5 лет назад +1

      I haven't tried Intense as Souffle and the Lumiere versions were both absolute busts

      I am very lucky to live close to the Toronto Guerlain Boutique. Recently I picked up a bottle of Chamade pour Homme and L'Heure Bleu. I haven't bothered with any of the designer releases for the reasons you pointed out in your video. Guerlain is my number 1 frag house, Chanel is a close second. There's a fragrance reviewer called U Smells Good in youtube who has the most extensive Guerlain reviews by far, and he's expressed his disappointment in the house lately too. Is the Shalimar Souffle de Parfum the same one you featured in your "Guerlain Winter 2016 Collection" video? The bottles are so similar for this line that I find myself confused! In that other video, you mentioned the lemony dessert vibes and that it's already your 2nd bottle. And in this one, the blue bottle you said is cold and you struggled wearing it. I'm blind buying and just wanna make sure I get the right one!

      Yes, they are in fact pretty different. I had two bottles of the original perfume, and also two bottles of Initial.
