The fecal note!!! I smell this in very sweet (floral maybe?) perfumes and I wonder if it’s jasmine! Maybe it’s like cilantro where some people think it’s soapy, some people pick up on that fecal note! Every one says I’m crazy but I knew I couldn’t be the only one!
As a person studying microbiology I can say that there's a bacteria that produces smell that's identical to jasmine and it can live in some people intestines not causing trouble and it could get mixed with other smells there and maybe subconsciously make us think there's a fecal note in jasmine fragrances! hope this helps to explain it a bit
For what I'm aware, the poopy smell in jasmine comes from indole which is also contained in feces and it's the amount of indole that changes the smell from "clean" and floral to "dirty". There are a few videos out there explaining indole in jasmine btw
I'm with you on the bdk opinion...I felt like that with Kayali (gasp! lol) I tried them all and I just was not in love with any or even that impressed. Some of them just smelled downright awful to me. So, thank you for making me feel "normal" when going against the yt frag community loves and such. I appreciate a more curated collection like yours.
I got rid of the two Oakchas I bought as well. Also Juliana's， also Be Layered. These were all hyped by well-known influencers. They smell so inferior to the scents they supposedly 90% dupe. They're 1. chemical smelling, 2. much thinner and more watery in texture, and 3. just downright different. Not sure how some RUclipsrs can put on a straight face in hyping these brands. After one too many bad experiences with dupes, I promised myself to never buy dupes. Buy the real deal or nothing at all.
Real talk on the dupes. I'd rather save money for the real deal than get something that is like "yeahhhh kinda, it is similar" but also watered down to boot. There's also something icky to me about stealing someone else's work and putting their name on it. Saving for the real thing also helps from amassing a ton of low quality scents and only buying a few fo cherish which is kind of how I want to shop for myself.

Dedcool taunt and milk layered smells so good together! I totally get the association though, I wore LDBS on one of the worst days of my life and I have panic attacks when I smell it.

Happy to see someone else who didn't like anything from BDK! I was super disappointed with all I've tried of them except Vanille Leather which is fine but lacks something. I layer La petite Robe Noire EDP with Vanille Leather and it's stunning together.
i also feel like the only person who doesn’t vibe with bdk, every one talks about rouge smoking and that smells like straight up nyquil to me. Velvet tonka sounded way up my alley because i love gourmand scents and i love almond but it was very synthetic to me, almost like play doh. Pace soir was ok, a very unique smell bc i think i’ve never smelled quince before. I appreciate scents that are different but i just didn’t feel cute wearing it
I hate Rouge Smoking!!! Smells like cough drops to me but weak ones- ick. Tabac Rose ick Gris Charnel I thought I liked but it's too much cardamom. Vanille leather even though it's DoniniqueRopion is a little weird and too violet and PasCeSoir is not that extraordinary...

Curious about what your negative experience with oakcha and alt were? I’m a broke college student so i was looking into buying from them but wanted to hear your criticisms first!
i don’t see eye to eye with the ownership! alt’s owner is allegedly pretty problematic. oakcha ran one of my videos as an ad for months without asking permission or paying me for it. *allegedly* heinous business practices
alt’s owner is a h*m*phobe, r*cist and misogynistic. his twitter account was posted on Tiktok in 2021 and it was… upsetting to say the least. horrible horrible man (*allegedly*)

Some heavy hitters that you’re getting rid of. I have such a hard time decluttering. Once I go to retest, I think, “wow, this is nice” and convince myself yet again, this will get some wear. But fragrance is so subjective and while something smells amazing in the air, on your own skin it may give a different vibe. Coco mademoiselle is the prefect example. I can smell it on others and find it amazing, yet on myself, putrid. I’ve bought and decluttered it 3 times!!!! You’d think I’d learn 😂😂
Once you let go it’s easy to look back! I gave away my whole REPLICA set and think about it every now and then. Either way I wasn’t using it tho! Thankfully I have enough fragrances otherwise to keep me occupied:)
How is the atomizer on the dedcool perfume? I got a sample and it just leaves a blob on my skin- it doesn’t mist. Idk if it’s the formula itself or the spray mechanism on the sample..
I love the smell of jasmine but i don’t love it on me as a perfume…ugh i want to love it so much. Also now that I’ve watched the video, I LOVED hearing about your scent associations 😂😂 i actually share some of the same issues. I love vanilla, sweet, caramel, sometimes floral scents

The only BDK scent that I love is Villa-Neroli because it smells like home which is Tunisia for me so, it’s pretty spot on 😂

I had the same issue with Kirke and other Tiziana Terenzi caps. Apparently that is actually not a defect and how the cap is supposed to be 😅🤷🏻♀️

These black caps is like that, they dont sitt well, i have it to and its have same problem, but its beautyful perfume 🌞

oakcha is AMAZING. lasts hella long and projects super well. i own about 12 oakcha dupes and they all do so well
oakcha has some good dupes but i have had issues with the company. id recommend them over alt :-)
