To cite/slightly change another comment on one of these low brass video's: All low brass players in the world chuckle with glee thinking about the next series of these recording sessions, whatever those might be
The fact that I’m still coming back time after time to watch this means that there needs to be more, wether it be GoT or something else. It’s been almost 2 years since this was posted and I need more
@@upsidedownpyramid7617 Listen to Mvnt 2 Year of the Dragon by Philip Sparke if you like trombone solos. Honestly my favorite trombone solo. As a brass bander it gives me goosebumps every time
An incredible sound - Inspired me to pick up my trombone again after not playing for a couple of years! If you're taking any suggestions, an arrangement on Jeremy Soule's theme from The Elder Scrolls (III, IV, or V) would be a treat.
This is one of the greatest tributes our community could ever give to him, him was humble, brilliant, and one of the greatest people I ever met in my life.
I'm not sure why YT suggested this to me but I'm damn glad it did. As a former tuba player I love hearing what talented low brass musicians sound like today.
I wish there many more of these performances. I feel fortunate to have been able to take a lesson from Mr. Pilafian, and Mr. Smedvig when the Empire Brass toured and performed at my Alma Mater in 1980. It was awe-inspiring to observe and learn from them as they played and I could observe their exemplary musicianship close up. They were very helpful in teaching me to make the effort I was exerting be as efficient as possible. I carried those lessons to my students for the rest of my career. RIP, Maestro Smedvig and Pilafian. We lost you much too soon.
I listened to it for the 8th time today, please don't stop making videos like this. I love every single one of them. The sound is like the wet dream of every trombone player.
This low brass arrangement and group has really inspired me. As a high school trombone player and low brass connoisseur is truly amazing to see videos like this. Many trombone players like Joe Alessi have inspired me through my musical career. Thank you guys so much for these videos. Also some Lord of the Rings pieces like Mina's tirith or the any other pieces that would work for an amazing epic low brass video. Again thank you.
Don't think those would work well with this orchestration, they're basically just repeated chord progressions. Not that they're bad - all the excitement comes from adding in different instruments gradually and dynamics. You just don't have that wide a palette of timbres with this low brass ensemble to keep that up for long.
Damn. As C. S. Lewis might have said, "As rich as plum cake!" And that tuba soloist was SO ON. Makes you wish there were more solo material for Tuba besides our ol' friend, Tubby!
I had the brief pleasure of learning from Pilafian on a couple of occasions. I do not claim to know Sam well, but I believe this to be a great tribute.
High in the halls of the kings who are gone Jenny would dance with her ghosts The ones she had lost and the ones she had found And the ones who had loved her the most The ones who'd been gone for so very long She couldn't remember their names They spun her around on the damp old stone Spun away all her sorrow and pain And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave They danced through the day And into the night through the snow that swept through the hall From winter to summer and winter again Till the walls did crumble and fall And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave High in the halls of the kings who are gone Jenny would dance with her ghosts The ones she had lost and the ones she had found And the ones who had loved her the most
I can only hope that one day I might play with a band as magnificent and moving as this band. My respects to Sam Pilafian and the rest of this wonderful group.
Wow so touching you can see water in their eyes some members fighting back tears, emotions on every ones face show just how much feeling went into this tribute .
The looks on the faces of these guys tells you everything you need to know about how the low brass world feels about the death of Sam Pilafian. Many of us play today because he turned us on to these instruments, whether or not we ever took a lesson from him.
I had the opportunity to study with Sam while I was at ASU. I play the horn but he let me hang out with Pat Sheridan the low brass studio and do The Breathing Gym exercises with them every morning. It was an amazing learning experience to just be around him. Afterward we would go grab bagels at the bagel place on campus and would just chill and talk music. Those were the best of times.
Ayden Murphy it is! Many think it is under appreciated and there is no exciting music for it but there are over 1000 trombone concertos in circulation!
My GF has been playing this on repeat for the past couple hours. I'm not sure what the big deal is about the music but I'm going to need the subwoofer she's been sitting on here soon to work on my own music.
Buy 3000 downloads and we'll make some more videos. What should we play next? Let us know in the comments. mp3/FLAC download here: bit.ly/JennyFLAC
Flight from Hans Zimmer would be sick if you play other things except for Game of Thrones.
Yes, this is the last video we will make with music from Game of Thrones. What next?
I buy every one of these!
Maybe something from the soundtrack for Skyrim?
Avengers Theme
That tuba soloist is amazing. And his tuba is AWESOME
Marcus Rojas is indeed pretty amazing, and a great guy as well!
I like how they casually are just like “Yeah, Alessi’s here too.”
Saurons theme, Sarumans theme, far over the misty mountains and the ring wraiths theme would be very nice. Great video!
YESS
Misty Mountains! Didn't know if there were others who have such a love for brass arrangements of the piece.
profile picture checks out
also, here's hoping they'll bless us with something from those masterpieces :D

The black rider theme!!
Still absolutely gives me chills. Stupid pandemic needs to get over with so more of this can happen.

Tubas have a nice robust low rounded sound. Trombones have a very cutting and brash tone. Such a good combo

Epic, goosebumps everytime. Thanks to this orchestra who did an excellent job!
Half these people look like they are the super villain in their own movie.
Especially the guy at 2:46
You've obviously never played in a kick ass bass brass section. We live in the lowlands.
@@mayonaisin5497 lol 🤣🤣🤣
Super villain with strong and soft lips….
This is why trombone players can get chicks but not jobs
the north remembers! that would be so lovely and grand on brass in contrast to the original strings!
Thats a intervall I like, one week one video 👍
That was just... beautiful. What a perfect tribute to an amazing musician.
Sam was a glorious human being and I will miss him till the day I die

Thanks Andy. This was beautiful. It gave me the goosebumps.
God I love all of the low brass pieces!! You guys are killing it!!
the most haunting moment of the entire series
These are awesome. And it's also been nice to see Joe Exley out there as he and I were at UNC together in the mod 90s.
I had the brief pleasure of learning from Pilafian on a couple of occasions. I do not claim to know Sam well, but I believe this to be a great tribute.
Now I want to get my old trombone out of the garage.. This is just Awesome. Thank you for this.

High in the halls of the kings who are gone

Awesome work! How about the Captain America theme, or the Avengers theme? Both have some good spots where some crazy low brass power would be awesome.
Avengers Theme, seconded!
thor dark world as well 0_0...

The Captain America theme!
If you're gonna do any other one please do The Night King from season 8 ep3

Tuba soloist has a lovely tone but that rotor clicking kills me!
Mine clicks like that too. It's annoying, but not much I can do about it.
Cheryl Wald any competent repair technician should be able to fix that for you.
Eh, you get used to it. Some pads would fix that.
i like that sound... reminds me of the good days when played, i miss it....
Sounds like an occasional beat to me.
