I used to visit my friends in Turkey every two years…and OMG I wan shocked at how expensive everything is…from hotels to restaurants…it’s more expensive than Madrid!
Hi, I visited Istanbul in 2022, 2023 and checked 2024 for one of my friends who will visit Istanbul in June 2024. Compared to 2022 prices are up 3-4 times... Turkey is definitely not a cheap destination anymore. But I have to admit it worth to visit anyway
Oh, yeah! Back then it was relatively very affordable, not as much anymore, but if one knows where to eat people can still make it with 50-60 usd a day per person (experiences, places to visit, food, transportation).
Everybody knows Istanbul and overall Turkey is under inflation and food is specifically very expensive. Our cotravellers from UK and Germany were shocked to see the price in Istanbul and Kapadokya. Turkey has become one of the most expensive countries to survive as an on date.

I noticed that comnig to istanbul in the summer is so much better than the winter , i love when there is so many tourists from different coutnries on top of that , sunny istanbul is way better than winter cloudy istanbul .
For sunny days absolutely this season is better but in summer months like July-August is not that good because the humidity here can be quite high making it hard to be out, I feel exhausted and I try not to go out as often 🥹 but May-June and September are great options 🥰 sunny and longer days!
As a German citizen with a Turkish background who's traveling to Türkiye regularly I can confirm prices in Istanbul have skyrocketed, especially between 2022 and 2024. A full dinner in a meat restaurant with starters and appetizers, three main courses, dessert, all drinks for two people (the table was full and there was no place on the table to place a tea glass) was about 14€ and it took us two hours to finish. The same food in 2024 turns out to be around 90€ exactly two years later in 2024. A Chicken Dürüm is cheap fast food but 7€ is the same price for a Chicken Dürüm I pay in a big German city, too. And we in Germany have at least 6-7 times higher income compared to Türkiye. I don't pay that kind of high prices in a Turkish meat restaurant in Germany but Istanbul is trying to scam everyone. So, you can't eat Dürüm all day long and when you look a little western, the restaurants apply a special tourist markup which is extremely unfair. Be prepared to pay around 4 to 5 more than locals. I'm not affected by that as I do look Turkish but when you're blond or have bright eye color you're eligible for the tourist markup scam. I'm ashamed of this Turkish entrepreneur trick to scam tourists.
Much of the honesty I used to cherish in Turkey has vanished even a taxi driver attacking tourist passengers. Was there 21 to 22 but saw the crisis ehich later spread to Uk. Sad
Tavuk dürüm istanbulun heryerinde aynı fiyat,Bir döner dürüm kesim ustası 55binliraya yakın aylık maaş alıyor + sigorta + yol ücreti + yemek + sosyal haklar... Bir döner ustasının aylık maaliyeti 75binlirayı geçiyor buda ortalama 2110EURO. Almanyada döner ustaları ne kadar maaş alıyor ?
It’s not a scam. Meat is extremely expensive. We just got back from Turkey from America. We bought a cattle that weighed 1 ton for sacrifice and it was $10K and cattle price in US was $4K. I don’t think it has to do with scamming. Meat is just super expensive and most of my local family who live there can’t afford to eat meat. Everything was more expensive than two years ago. I pray for the locals who make low salaries and cost of living is more than America right now.
Hi,I went to Istanbul in April. The main Attractions are expensive but the public transport is fantastic and cheap, food and shopping can be reasonable if you shop around if not it is expensive and Thank you your videos were very helpful 😀 👍🏼
I’ve watched quite a few of your videos before visiting this month (May 2024) so I was aware it was very very expensive. I opted out of visiting some of the more expensive attractions and visited the free attractions and without long waiting lines! Thanks for the good info and the effort you put into sharing your tips/info👍
I was in Istanbul two weeks ago and things have become very expensive since my last visit. Also Berry not every tourist comes with Usd or euro as many travel vloggers tend to think. I am South African and my currency is almost as bad as the lira so its expensive to visit the sites. I also tend just visit these sites without going inside and eat a heathy better priced breakfast on thee Asian side which gets me through to supper. I think a nice video would be sites that are free or at a reasonable price. Staying on the Asian side is also more affordable for the budget traveler. Thank you for a nice video
I came over for a concert and decided to stay for a week longer. I existed on a breakfast as part of my accommodation package. Vendors don’t want to know card. It is cash, cash, cash. Such a pity.
@@BeryIstanbulTipsDid you get your citizenship by investment of $400,000? How many months did it take? Can you make a video on this topic? Thanks much 😊
Princess Island Ferry ride is a wonderful day trip and super cheap! The sunsets on the Bosporus are some of my best memories and free as well. Nice vid!
We recently visited Turkey, Istanbul in the month of May 2024 . The country has more than 100% inflation. Interest rate is 50% ! To match the falling value of Lira everyone tries to fleece you , scam you. the prices are as much as Western Europe. I got a rare experience of being in a country with hyper inflation. Wonder how common people cope with this, particularly retired...
Salaried workers came to this situation because they wanted to get the wages of people in Western European countries. Türkiye is a production country and can suspend this. People working in the service sector demand the monthly wage that production workers earn, and it is very difficult to find qualified people to work in the service sector. This naturally affects places operating in the service sector such as restaurants and hotels.
Vast majority of retirees are homeowners and do not pay rent, and due to the Turkish family structure, the money earned is collected by the head of the family and distributed fairly. In addition, Turks do not always eat in restaurants, they eat their meals at home.
This is one place that I always enjoy and look forward going back to! Just came back from Istanbul and it is expensive but especially if you go to the touristy places. I would recommend Topkapi palace, great value for the ticket price. I spent more than 3h there.
The Aghia Sofia costs 25 euro to enter only on the upper level, the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, costs 20 euro and the Louvre Museum in Paris costs 22 euro, but the mafia state which is Turkey wants to rip off foreign tourists.
I travelled to Turkiye last year, (From Scotland) visiting Fethiye, Antalya and Istanbul. Prices varied between destinations and although these prices are higher, they’re still very reasonable, especially considering you are in a major tourist destination and if you walk just 5-10 minutes away from the most touristy areas, the prices drop accordingly. I will definitely be back in Istanbul and no price rises would put me off, visiting this beautiful city and its wonderful people.
The prices have seriously shot up since the last time I visited in July 2022. Just as an example… in 2022, £1 = 20tl… the price of a portion of Kofte from the famous SultanAhmet Koftecisi was 60tl (£3)… but in 2024, £1 = 40tl and the price for a portion is 280tl (£7)… an increase of more than twice as much… this is just a very basic example of food… but in many places the equivalent has gone up by 2/3x. I feel sorry for the ppl in Turkiye… it must be very difficult. In’sha’allah things will improve by the end of the year as the inflation should drop significantly.
Yes me too I wonder how they manage but in poor communities they help each other...here in Uk tripled prices too.. I wàs in Turkey in 21 to 22 but had over 60 museum card as had temp 1 yr resident card. But saw fares food and everything go up overnight. It s defiitely not cheap at all anymore unless you want yo eat a small kebab everyday. I found tge minimarket prices right up too.
@@lbunnygordon1133 I’m from the north in the U.K. so our prices tend to be significantly cheaper than the south like London… but even our supermarkets haven’t shot up like Turkiye. Like for example Sunflower Oil had gone up to like £11.5/5 Litres… but even that’s come down to more or less what it used to be. There’s def inflation in the U.K… but nothing as crazy as Türkiye. Most recently a steak meal cost me £50 in Turkiye… that would prob cost me max around £25-30 in the U.K. at a good place.
Prices is not a problem. Problem is what you get for that money. Transportation is not expencive and I recommend to buy food in local groceries or shops like BIM or MIGROS.
@@williamearnshaw410 I watched a man paying 3 euros for a cookie in Amsterdam. For this price, I can drink Turkish coffee in the most beautiful place in Istanbul.

Every place in the wold have become more expensive than pre pandemic. Air ticket prices have skyrocketed as well. Thanks for sharing the how to travel on a low budget in istanbul, specially the free cistern, that really helps. Your vlogs are VERY helpful as always. Love & respect from Bangladesh
A pizza in the Greek islands costs 10-15 euro, not 50 euro in Bodrum. Turkish visitors have flouded the Greek islands and the waiting queue the borders with Greece is more than 8 hours on the Turkish side and 30 kilometers long. Turkish visitors in Northern Greece are going even on one day to the supermarkets close to the border to buy beef meat at 13 euro per kilo while in Turkey costs 35 euro. They even buy coffee and basic necessities, so tell me about prices . The PlayStation costs € 439 in Greece minus 24% vat and in Turkey it costs €1.000. I All brands of iPhones and Samsung phones in Greece cost one third their price in Turkey. Turkish people in cars drive to Thessaloniki to buy snickers at the big discount stores and electronics at a normal price instead the triple price their government steals from them.😮
Just visited Turkey in early May and felt prepared after watching your videos, thanks. Lots of history and culture with a great transit network. Found reasonably priced accommodation on the Asian side and started each day with a traditional breakfast. Found prices higher than expected and plenty of scammers to be wary of. We took your suggestion and did an early Evening cruise on the public ferry of the Bosporus.
Bery, thank you very much for your latest update and suggestions. Especially about the Kosk Kebab and Gulhane Cistern. I am going to Istanbul in June 2024 for the first time and I have been watching many of your videos to prepare for my holiday. 👍👍👍😁😁😁
Best ferry : Uskudar - Eyup. It costs as same as a basic ferry journey. But you will stop to every vapur station until Eyup. It's very long, but it's a very pleasant tour.
Istanbul is worth every penny. But that being said, it is NOT cheap anymore. In 2022.when I was visiting It would be nonsense to pay for doner 7€ My daughter, husband and I were in that popular pastry shop near Galata and we ordered San Sebastian cake, Oreo Cake, Red velvet cake, big cookie, 1 large macchiato, 1 latte macchiato and one tea, and all of that was 221TL which was 13 euros. 2 years later - 1 San Sebastian cake is 11 euros. Yes, like in every city in Europe, you can still eat cheap, but not in main area. Now you need to find some super small and local places that no turists visit so you can eat or pay 3 times more than we used to. That is a fact.
Never been to Turkey, but a friend of mine told me that prices have increased a lot, and this happens especially in Istanbul. Probably in other parts of this amazing country it is less expensive, I mean in the countryside or little towns, but if we do not visit Istanbul, the wonders of this city!...Perhaps a bed and breakfast or a hotel outside Istanbul would be better. Means of trasport are affordable. Thank you so much for this video ❤
I've been to Istanbul every year for the last few years. Although the lira price has lost more than 85% of its value, prices have still risen significantly if I use the euro as a reference. Prices in Istanbul are slowly reaching the level of Germany in the tourist districts.
It is so sad to see that there is Muslim and Non-Muslim discrimination in entering some sites. In Europe, or elsewhere in the world, people are all welcomed to holy sites, be them Cathedrals, churches, Buddhist sites and temples, or many other holy sites, tourists or visitors are not discriminated and those places are open to visit for everyone, with obeying religious tenets and requirements to enter, dress attire in respect. Please do not discourage visitors coming to beautiful, rich cultural and most historic Turkiye.
Hmm, I visited Hagia Sophia when it was still a museum back in 2013 and it’s open for everyone and still free, no charge. I guess, because they restore it back to the mosque and people use that for during prayer times, they need separation between tourists and people who want to make prayer, so they don’t feel disturbed, maybe? But anyone can enter blue mosque no issue right? I don’t think it’s discrimination. We just have to respect it.
Just came back from Istanbul, I confirm the prices are ridiculous, standard price for a coffe is 80 lira wish like 2.5€ it's more expensive than Paris.
That's subjective, but for a fact the average salary in paris is like 3x that of Istanbul ? so the prices are ridiculous unless the higher prices are just for tourists which is even worse if it's true.
In Poland paying for coffe in mid-resteurant in small city is often like 14 zł (aroud 4$) and its normal price for everyone so yea...and we even dont have inflation
I am an American living in Boston and I travel to New York at least once a year.A one week trip to New York City usually costs around 2,281 us dollars for one person and 4,561 us dollars for two people. This includes accommodation, food, local transportation, and sightseeing. A two week trip to New York City on average costs around $4,561 for one person and $9,123 for two people.Do you call Istanbul expensive? new york is more expensive, but there is one thing, when we look at the Turks living in Istanbul, we get a more decent salary and can enjoy entertainment.I have been to Istanbul, but it is a pity that people in their countries lose the value of their money and due to high inflation, Istanbul seems expensive both for local people and for tourists. I was in Istanbul 2 years ago, the prices increased by 150 percent.Their salary loses purchasing power due to inflation. But despite this, Istanbul is relatively cheap for tourists compared to many other cities in the world, such as Paris and London. Please reply to my comment. Thanks.
Recently I visited Turkey, especially Istanbul and Cappadocia. We visited grand Bazaar in Istanbul.Food is amazing and majority historical places are very well maintained. But in grand Bazaar lot of cheating is their.
Is there any chance you could please do a comprehensive video on how to use the Dolmus in Istanbul… all the other modes of transports have been covered quite comprehensively by urself and others… but there doesn’t seem to be much on the Dolmus. At times it’s the best/only option… but confusing for a tourist. Thanks Thanks
I am in Turkey now. Yesterday i went out on a boat ride, i paid 100tl for a tin of fanta. I thought the guy was joking, but he was not. This made me super aware of asking for prices before purchasing anything.
I came back from IST few days ago and the prices are high. Butter is for 6-7 EUR, in Czech Rep which is for 1.50 or 2. 🙈 Public transport is cheap, this is OK.
In which mind do you live? Türkiye is a country with the 17th largest economy in the world. It produces high-tech products and is the first supplier in Europe in sectors such as textile, furniture, electronic household goods and automobiles.
We visited Istanbul for three months in 2020, shortly after the lira rose to 8tl per $1 usd. The prices are soooo high now but THANK YOU so much for showing us what options we can take to keep costs lower (not low, but lowER😂). We miss Türkiye and may still try to revisit sooner rather than later. I’m going to watch our old videos from that time to compare prices. I feel it for the Turkish people so will try to pay for locals cay and food whenever we eat out. Can you please do an updated grocery prices video so we can compare? Maybe we will just have to cook at home more while visiting.
I find the short term rentals in Istanbul to be a rip off. Many scams using Airbnb and the prices are through the roof when you want something decent for a family. Prices for rentals are much more expensive than other countries we have visited and the quality is lacking. Just my personal opinion, but it is definitely a consideration my family takes into account when thinking about a return to Türkiye.
Surprised, I am watching your vlog while visiting Istanbul. Inflation is an all-time high here, and I must admit it's not for budget travellers anymore.
I am in Istanbul now (July 7-12, 2024) and am finding it very expensive. Tickets to attractions are very high, food is also very expensive. I am from Canada and I find Istanbul prices are as high as American cities
Lol 😂😂😂 as high as American Cities? Dude you’re from Canada and should know that Canadian cities are even more expensive than American. Istanbul is definitely more expensive than all popular European cities now. It’s gotten ridiculous.
Went there in end of May 2024, everything was so expensive unexpectedly, especially we have to pay too expensive for low quality of food in restaurants. Ticket for tourist attractions are way too expensive as well. Was not impressive being there.
Sorry, but 40 TL for tea, 90 TL for a lemonade and 300 TL for a chicken skewer are not decent prices in any way. Even in Taksim the chicken is 200TL and it's already outrageous...
Decent prices for Sultanahmet area, which is what we are trying show, Sultanhmet, just as in any other tourist area in the world, is the most expensive in the city and people keep complaining that one cannot eat there for less than 3000 tl which is a lie, that restaurant is a good option IF you don’t want to leave Sultanahmet area and don’t want to pay waaay more for the same food 😉
There a restaurant I’ve been visiting for the last 15 years in Istanbul , when I went in 2022 it cost me 200 liras for their lamb chops the same chops cost 700 liras now It’s become way too expensive
If is expensive, easy, don’t eat baklava and don’t visit Hagia Sophia. This video is to show that even while spending a bit more of money in certain things/attractions you can still balance your expenses with other free stuff.
I visited Istanbul 2 years ago and prices were cheap! I am visiting again next week put lots of people told me it got way to expensive now and I checked many youtube videos and they all confirm that, unfortunately I only knew this after buying the flight tickets and booking a hotel. I did not expect prices to go so high in 2 years! I don't think I will visit again, maybe Spain is cheaper.
Hi berry my name is binta yahaya I am a from Nigeria and am in a process of relocating to istanbul thank to your videos I get so mch information I neded
Haggia Sophia and Basilica Cistern were on my wish list along with Topkapi palace were on my wish list for my coming trip but not any more. It is not the cost but they now appear to be poor value for the entrance fee especially Haggia Sophia. The cistern in the video looks like a good alternative if someone can tell me how to find it. At least it can be visited in relative comfort. The Blue Mosque remains on my list and am going to add Chora Church as an alternative to Haggia Sophia. Archaeological Museum remains on my list even though part of it is closed. Obviously open to any more suggestions of places to enjoy Istanbul.
Berry, only watch your videos after comparing with other blockers. Thank you very much. I love Istambul, going yearly & staying in Kadikoy. This year prices in Moda or Kalamış food places are very high & more close to Cide prices , not sure about Fatih & other Euro site of the city. After I went to Balearic & Canary Islands, the prices in high touristic areas are much less in restaurants & in hotel buffet with big variety of good food. I think that people who does NOT count their money can visit Turkey in 2025 if it will be continuing unfortunately. PS. Why you never mention Rüstem pasha mosque ( one of the best ones & ancient coffee grinder in Spice Bazaar. This is what to see & not overpriced goodies that can be bought on Anatolian side for way much less. Why Grand basar & not Mihrimah Sultan mosques built by same Sinan - one on Euro & one on Asian side , easy to get by ferry to Uscudar ? Not many people visit those places vs touristic traps like bazaars above. Anyway, I only recommend your videos to all my US friends
I will come ti Istanbul soon and I read the cost to visit the main attractions like Topkapi and Cistern and the it's beyond expensive, we are a family of four and it will be quite hard to visit them all with those prices, the topkapi alone is like 59 euros each...
I’m in Turkey right now and it is not cheap. Ye, public transport is cheap but at times you have to make use of taxis - well, that will blow your budget right out of the water. Don’t even suggest Uber. I was charged accordingly(120TL) and when we stopped he told me I owed him another 200TL. A taxi refused to take my card he stopped at an ATM and made me withdraw cash - double the amount.
You should’ve reported him through the app right away, it works! My brother when he came to visit us some years ago got also overcharged, as soon as he got internet when landing in Mexico, he contacted Uber, explained the situation, he got full refund and the taxi driver got suspended from the app.
Fingers crossed! Those f*** shouldn’t be on the streets scamming people, I feel so bad for this constant situation going on and what the country is going through at the moment is not an excuse to act that way. Let us know if Uber did their part, hopefully they’ll kick that scammer driver out of the platform.
@@BeryIstanbulTips Bery, please pm me. There are a few things that may be useful for your future videos. My experiences here over 2 weeks as a solo female traveller.
My wife and I will be flying into Istanbul on a Sunday morning this summer. By the time we get to the area by Hagia Sophia, it will likely be a bit passed noon. Is it possible to see Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern in one afternoon and evening? Unfortunately, we head out on a cruise first thing the next morning.
Hi! Is possible since at least the mosques and Basilica don’t requiere much time, just the Palace take at least 2 hrs but you’ll do a quick tour, you won’t be able to see it throughly but still is doable. Just keep in mind the closing times. Basilica Cistern is also open at night shift but consider that for the night shift the entrance fee is more expensive, the night shift starts at 7:30 pm and closes around 10 pm. Topkapi closes around 5 pm. Hagia Sophia around 7:00 same for Blue Mosque (visiting times).
@@BeryIstanbulTips Thanks so much for your advice. I have worked out a schedule, but I can't figure out how to purchase tickets for the night shift at the Bascilica Cistern online? Do you know how to do that? Thanks
I’m interested to know if hotels around the Spice Bazaar are a good option? Is the free breakfast usually traditional Türkiye (ie freshly cooked with fresh ingredients) or Continental (highly processed food). We generally have a couple of meals using ingredients after exploring g a local food market. So we generally opt for rooms with a kitchenette. Any thoughts on this plan?
I see alot of comments saying I use to pay x amount of Lira now its 4x higher. You do realise that your own currency probable doubled or trippled as well. Don't use the Lira as a guide. Convert it to your own currency then judge. STILL 10X CHEAPER THAN ANY EU NATION
Hi, great vlog, may I ask you few questions? is it generally safe to live there? What is the community like? Are the neighbours friendly and supportive?
@BeryIstanbulTips They listen to influencers. If you local influencers don't say anything, then nothing will happen. Show them then comments. Well our tourism listen to what travelers say.
Sorry but this is Türkiye, things work very different from anywhere else in the world and they do not listen to anyone else except their pockets. Just to tell you that Turkish citizens who desire to travel abroad might start paying some sort of exit tax of almost 100 usd (they already pay 5 usd) now is being expected to be raised soon to almost 100 usd and citizens are going crazy online but ofc and as always no one will listen and nothing will be done to stop that from happening, it will happen and is just a matter of time. Is not only tourists who they are bleeding with those ridiculous prices especially for entrance fees, they are also bleeding locals every single day in other aspects. This is also a place where freedom of speech is almost inexistent and if you speak against how things are you’ll get immediately targeted. Do I really want that as a non-Turk and away from my country? No. All I can do now is try to help people through my videos to understand what’s the reality of the city and you can decide whether you visit or not, I can also just help with exposing tourist traps and recommending honest places to eat at for example, or recommending places to visit for free instead of the paid ones, we’re already doing the best we can and I wish I could do more, trust me, but unfortunately I can’t and I’m on the same boat as you.
So many and I have a wide list here: www.thatch.co/guide/1ak9inabg6pqq Restaurants I recommend and organized by areas including Taksim/Istiklal/Galata/Karaköy.
Has the price for the Istanbulkart gone up? Most videos I have watched have said it is 70tl to buy, but I just came back from Istanbul, and paid 140 TL just for the card. I purchased the card at the yellow machine at Beyazit tram stop outside the Grand Bazaar. 70 to 140 seems like quite the jump, did I do something wrong or is this just the new price?

Hi, very informative video. I will be in Istanbul as a port stop from a cruise. I’m planning to go explore the Asian side. Is the ferry going to the Asian side near the cruise port? What area of the Asian side you recommend to explore? Thanks in advance
Hi! Yes! You will arrive at Galataport which is very close to Karaköy port, from there, you can take a ferry to the Asian side like Kadıköy or Üsküdar, both areas worth a visit! We have videos on our channel of places you can visit just check the Asian side playlist :)
Greetings! Traveling to Turkiye Next Tuesday with my wife. First time out of my country (India) and your videos are very helpful, I must admit, to help me plan an adventure (even as I am an extensive traveler back home). I had one question regarding visiting the cisterns, should we really head to Basilica cistern or skip it for a similar one that you mentioned in the video? I am going to buy the Turkiye Museum pass but that does not cover basilica cistern (I wish it did). I have never been fond of too crowded places.
Hi! First of all, welcome to 🇹🇷! I would skip the basilica if you are not fond of crowded places, the basilica cistern is a small place and sometimes one cannot even walk inside because of the amount of people inside. I would suggest another like Gülhane for an empty place and you can also have a general idea of what a byzantine cistern looks like without paying a high entrance fee and crowds :)
I wanted to experience the real deal Turkish coffee so I decided to go to the Grand Bazaar - it’s the place to go to and will be cheaper……. Right?? Well, no, the coffee cost 148TL . 1 small pistachio roll 275TL. Service Charge 63.45
Grand Bazaar for a Turkish coffee? No local will go there. I used to visit my friends in Turkey every two years…and OMG I wan shocked at how expensive everything is…from hotels to restaurants…it’s more expensive than Madrid!
if you visit with your family it will cost around 280$ a day 💀
This is true

Hi, I visited Istanbul in 2022, 2023 and checked 2024 for one of my friends who will visit Istanbul in June 2024. Compared to 2022 prices are up 3-4 times... Turkey is definitely not a cheap destination anymore. But I have to admit it worth to visit anyway
Oh, yeah! Back then it was relatively very affordable, not as much anymore, but if one knows where to eat people can still make it with 50-60 usd a day per person (experiences, places to visit, food, transportation).
I have just came back from Istanbul and visited Kapadokia and for sure I can say Turkey is more expensive than America and Germany
Everybody knows Istanbul and overall Turkey is under inflation and food is specifically very expensive. Our cotravellers from UK and Germany were shocked to see the price in Istanbul and Kapadokya. Turkey has become one of the most expensive countries to survive as an on date.
Bery you have the Best channel for people that want to know Turkey before travelling!👌...i'm traveling this Friday! I feel ready after seeing almost all of your videos!🙏💃🏼💪
...was intrigued about the rice, chicken, yogurt combo🤔...just made it at home and Absolutely is addictive!...i'm a foodie!🫣🤭...so many Thanks!🙏🙏pd. mi mano derecha sobre el corazon!🥰 hermoso gesto que copiare desde mi patria; Puerto Rico!💜🩵💚
Indeed, it's very expensive now. I'm at Istanbul atm. Just shocking, very different when I'm here on April 2022 😟
Just returned from Istanbul and won’t be going back again. It’s more expensive than London and Paris that’s crazy.
I was visiting Istanbul mostly because it was a cheap destination. Obviously, I won’t see Turkey in a while.
Even Expensive than Norway 🇳🇴 even though Norway 🇳🇴 wage or Salary is 3 time Higher than Turkey or UK,
I noticed that comnig to istanbul in the summer is so much better than the winter , i love when there is so many tourists from different coutnries on top of that , sunny istanbul is way better than winter cloudy istanbul .
It .becomes way too expensive
I am also wondering if these high prices are for tourists only? How can the locals survive with these costs?
Hi,I went to Istanbul in April. The main Attractions are expensive but the public transport is fantastic and cheap, food and shopping can be reasonable if you shop around if not it is expensive and Thank you your videos were very helpful 😀 👍🏼
I’ve watched quite a few of your videos before visiting this month (May 2024) so I was aware it was very very expensive. I opted out of visiting some of the more expensive attractions and visited the free attractions and without long waiting lines! Thanks for the good info and the effort you put into sharing your tips/info👍
Thanks for sharing!
We have plenty of videos on our channel showing free places to visit as well those off the beaten path :)
Thanks much 😊
howsit.which hotel would u recommend on asian side going on the 24 th from kaap
Princess Island Ferry ride is a wonderful day trip and super cheap! The sunsets on the Bosporus are some of my best memories and free as well. Nice vid!
I agree 100%! 🎉🎉
Thank you. May you please share a link for more info?
How is $75 great value??
😂😂😂supermarket food in Turkey is 3-4 times more expensive than anywhere in Europe...
@@williamearnshaw410 I watched a man paying 3 euros for a cookie in Amsterdam. For this price, I can drink Turkish coffee in the most beautiful place in Istanbul.
@@williamearnshaw410It is off my travel list

SUPER EXPENSIVE I WITNESSED LAST WEEK ISTANBUL TRIP People is not Friendly enough like in 2022 now avoid Istanbul because of Declined Economy
All brands of iPhones and Samsung phones in Greece cost one third their price in Turkey. Turkish people in cars drive to Thessaloniki to buy snickers at the big discount stores and electronics at a normal price instead the triple price their government steals from them.😮
As an English man living in Turkey. One tip. Use Uber in Istanbul.
Have fun! And then let us know how was your experience 🫶
Thank you Bery! I am watching all your videos in preparation for my trip in June❤ hi from Honduras🇭🇳

The coincidence... We're packing our suitcases to visit Istanbul tomorrow :D
thanks for the tips!
Welcome to Istanbul and enjoy your trip! 🥰
Another amazing video, I will be planning a trip to Istanbul very soon
Best ferry : Uskudar - Eyup. It costs as same as a basic ferry journey. But you will stop to every vapur station until Eyup. It's very long, but it's a very pleasant tour.
Thank you for keeping us updated ❤❤
Always!
You know shes good when you've got Turkish people watching her videos on places to go .❤
Yaaaa! Çok teşekkürler Hakan beeey! 🫶
Istanbul is worth every penny. But that being said, it is NOT cheap anymore. In 2022.when I was visiting It would be nonsense to pay for doner 7€
My daughter, husband and I were in that popular pastry shop near Galata and we ordered San Sebastian cake, Oreo Cake, Red velvet cake, big cookie, 1 large macchiato, 1 latte macchiato and one tea, and all of that was 221TL which was 13 euros.
Türkiye remains most expensive places to visit and fear of being scammed is also there !
Thank you for this video! Cannot wait to visit month 😊
Thank you for your wonderful content, it is very helpful. I have been watching your vlogs since day one.
I've been to Istanbul every year for the last few years. Although the lira price has lost more than 85% of its value, prices have still risen significantly if I use the euro as a reference.
Prices in Istanbul are slowly reaching the level of Germany in the tourist districts.
.... prices keep rising because lira lost 85% of its value. Depreciation of a curency means it is less desirable to keep it...
Thanks Beryl. Lovely video. Saddened to hear the prices have gone up, but hopefully things will get better very soon.
Discrimination started after some Greek malakas were making provocation inside Hagia Sophia.
Just came back from Istanbul, I confirm the prices are ridiculous, standard price for a coffe is 80 lira wish like 2.5€ it's more expensive than Paris.
Because Istanbul is more valuable and rich than Paris.
I am an American living in Boston and I travel to New York at least once a year.A one week trip to New York City usually costs around 2,281 us dollars for one person and
4,561 us dollars for two people.
Thanks
Thanks
Wow. Thanks so much for the info on the newly opened cistern in Gulhane Park. I will definitely check it out soon. ❤
Have fun!
I am in Turkey now. Yesterday i went out on a boat ride, i paid 100tl for a tin of fanta. I thought the guy was joking, but he was not. This made me super aware of asking for prices before purchasing
anything.
3,5euro is normal.
V informative video ..I am coming to Istanbul and hope it will help a lot ..thanks for sharing
Interesting and informative ❤❤❤ thanks 🎉🎉
Informative video. Enjoyed. Thanks.Waiting for the next video.
great video thank you :)
I am in Istanbul now (July 7-12, 2024) and am finding it very expensive. Tickets to attractions are very high, food is also very expensive. I am from Canada and I find Istanbul prices are as high as American cities
Come to Zanzibar bro you wont regret coming
Lol 😂😂😂 as high as American Cities? Dude you’re from Canada and should know that Canadian cities are even more expensive than American. Istanbul is definitely more expensive than all popular European cities now. It’s gotten ridiculous.
I love Istanbul and I'll be back there later this month, but oh will I miss the prices from before...
There a restaurant I’ve been visiting for the last 15 years in Istanbul , when I went in 2022 it cost me 200 liras for their lamb chops the same chops cost 700 liras now
It’s become way too expensive
I'm staying in Tarabași - only max. 500 m from Istiklal... Lokantas around are so good value...
$7 for Baklava, $27 entry fee to a mosque ... off course it is expensive
If is expensive, easy, don’t eat baklava and don’t visit Hagia Sophia. This video is to show that even while spending a bit more of money in certain things/attractions you can still balance your expenses with other free stuff.
100% right
I visited Istanbul 2 years ago and prices were cheap! I am visiting again next week put lots of people told me it got way to expensive now and I checked many youtube videos and they all confirm that, unfortunately I only knew this after buying the flight tickets and booking a hotel. I did not expect prices to go so high in 2 years! I don't think I will visit again, maybe Spain is cheaper.
im currently in the city and its extremely expensive , especially food they supper expensive for bad quality food
Which areas of the city?
Yes just coming back. I wish Turkey every success in sustaining high end tourism. Put in that way 😮
Great video. Thanks for the tips!
Glad it was helpful!
We've just returned from two weeks in Istanbul. Food is expensive now for what you get. Generally poor value for money.
Amazing, so wonderful ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for good video. Very informative for tourists. Keep going 👍
So nice of you!

Same!!! Will be arriving in istanbul 1 week after Eid al adha😊
Hi berry my name is binta yahaya I am a from Nigeria and am in a process of relocating to istanbul thank to your videos I get so mch information I neded
Hi Binta! All I want yo say is that I wish you the best in your new relocation journey 🫶
Thank you very much cos your videos have been so helpful and u made me fall in love with turkeye as whole.
You must be very rich!
Hi there please make a video about the spa experience, thank you for your wonderful videos❤
The spa experience is great but when you open your locker all your belongings are gone. Everyone in the tourism sector is greedy and rude.
Gracias! Planning on going next year.
Bienvenido! ❤️
Thank you for your advice I will hopefully visiting Istanbul 🇬🇧💖
You should!
Go to Paris, the Louvre Museum costs 22 euro and the Acropolis in Athens costs 20 euro
@@BeryIstanbulTips I did. I’m still waiting for a response.
Fingers crossed! Those f*** shouldn’t be on the streets scamming people, I feel so bad for this constant situation going on and what the country is going through at the moment is not an excuse to act that way. Let us know if Uber did their part, hopefully they’ll kick that scammer driver out of the platform.
@@BeryIstanbulTips Bery, Uber has just refunded me. Very professional and honestly, I didn’t really think I’d get a response. Well done Uber.
Bery...do you recommend having USD, euros or lira when coming to Turkey?
I visited Istanbul last summer, prices were reasonable, it has gotten too expensive this year, entry fees have doubled - triplicated as I see.
The free, more quiet cistern is a great idea
Brothers you can visit Zanzibar its a tourist destination in Tanzania....worth your money
Thanks for the video. Do you know anything about The Delik Mağarası in Antalya? Is it safe to go? I mean can resperate good in the cave?
Yes, I just got back and it is expensive. All prices target tourists aggresvely. Sure you can find better prices but not near tourist attractions.
Great advice!
I see alot of comments saying I use to pay x amount of Lira now its 4x higher. You do realise that your own currency probable doubled or trippled as well. Don't use the Lira as a guide. Convert it to your own currency then judge. STILL 10X CHEAPER THAN ANY EU NATION
I 💯percent agree!
What a shame Hagia Sofia founded as a Church has been converted into a mosque. Even as a museum I had grudgingly accepted it.
Hi bery I solo traveled there in Jan and it was very affordable...I'll be back
Hi, great vlog, may I ask you few questions?
is it generally safe to live there?
What is the community like?
Are the neighbours friendly and supportive?
Hi, can you still go to the European side if you only have a TURKISH visa instead of Schengen?
Its expensive especially Topkapi. Are you going to tell the Tourism Board?
What makes you think that they will listen to me? 😅
No. All I can do now is try to help people through my videos to understand what’s the reality of the city and you can decide whether you visit or not, I can also just help with exposing tourist traps and recommending honest places to eat at for example, or recommending places to visit for free instead of the paid ones, we’re already doing the best we can and I wish I could do more, trust me, but unfortunately I can’t and I’m on the same boat as you.
the government of gangsters and thieves imposes the prices , they even made the exit visa for Turkish citizens from 150TL to 500 TL.
Are there any good food places in taksim - i will be getting surgery so cannot travel that much
So many and I have a wide list here:

Restaurants I recommend and organized by areas including Taksim/Istiklal/Galata/Karaköy.
I remember 2015 my 1st trip to Istanbul, 1 tea is 2lira I paid on the ferry

Please don't get me wrong, but how can one determine whether I am a Muslim or not to get on the first floor?
The Basilica Cistern is worth it. There are other cisterns, but that's the only one where you will see the Medusa head.
Thank you for your advice. We will go by your word. Shall share about our experience as well, at a later date.
Yes, as IstanbulNerd commented, if you are interested in seeing the Medusa heads, then the cistern for that is only the Basilica Cistern :)
Should you tip at a restaurant if they have a cover and service charge?
The answer to your question is in this other video:

I wanted to experience the real deal Turkish coffee so I decided to go to the Grand Bazaar - it’s the place to go to and will be cheaper……. Right?? Well, no, the coffee cost 148TL .
1 small pistachio roll 275TL. Service Charge 63.45
Grand Bazaar for a Turkish coffee? No local will go there.
You should’ve watch our video of where to have a Turkish coffee, that’s why whoever wants to come to Istanbul our channel is a must because we have covered all of those topics and we show good places for everything:

@@BeryIstanbulTips ooooh, I did try out a few others. Fazil Bey, Mandabatmaz, Sekerci Cafer Erol. While I don’t profess to be a Turkish coffee fundi, the best experience I had was at Sekerci Cafer Erol. They also serve a mean almond cookie. 🤗
Prices in the states have tripled and quadrupled. It's everywhere.
