You can say what you like about Chris Eubank, but he brought a helluva lot to UK boxing. He fought tough men, and kept an air of dignity about him that many fighters don't have or let go when they get rich. Anyone with respect would honour the man, or at least his achievements, he earned it
Loslo Finger British champ and World champ ,18 successful defences against anyone who wanted to fight him.So unlike Gayweather. You do not know anything about boxing so better to keep your uninformed mouth shut so you do not look s ignorant.
Emi Duncan look no reason to get upset, and if you want to rip apart mayweather get in line behind me - but to be fair, mayweather with the exception of pacquiao I think he has fought anyone (and by fight I mean to say hug and wrestle opponents, and bore the rest of us). In an era of roy jones, julian jackson, james toney and many others, how is it your boy never fought one of them? how can any fighter have illusions of greatness if they have essentially fought no one? Sorry pal, being the european or english champ alone is really meaningless, nothing more than provincial chest pounding
Perhaps you do not understand English. He was a World champion not only British and European. This at a time when there were only 3 World class fighters all from Britain. You can only fight who was is in front of you.Why are you so anti British? By the way your comments about provincial chest pounding are stupid. I am not British but I know the facts.
A true man. A throw back. An absolute man of toughness. A very very clever man who is still probably 20 years ahead in the ways of a warrior/human. A mild seemingly kind man. Thanks mr eubanks.
Truly one of British sports most colourful personalities. A pioneer of the get the public interested before you enter the ring, his antics, his comments, his swagger all added to the show. Skilled, brave and determined Eubank was a big draw all fights were big events. After Watson got hurt he lost his edge and didn't wish to knock opponents out, that shows he always had a heart of gold.............A Champion, a Gent and British sporting icon................Chris Eubank, Boxing Legend
Excecutioner147....Man, I watch this doc for the first time last night,....I couldn't of wrote it any better than the way you have myself,....like you say....one of Britain's most colourful sports personalities period...I hold full respect for the man,..and all that he achieved through his boxing career,...he deserves every penny he earned....all of them did,....Eubanks, Ben, Watson, etc etc.....the best era for middleweight/super middleweight fights to date ........
He was arrogant without the slightest hint of cowardliness, most arrogant people are cowards at the core, he was arrogant and confident from a place of putting his life on the line, that takes the highest level of guts and will to win.
I was too young when he was fighting but I'm shocked the Brits hated him. They (and I) loved Prince Naseem, and he was 10x more cocky. This guy was eccentric the way he wore those one eyed glasses, outfits or top hats. He conquered America/the world whilst carrying the British flag, and did so in a very classy manner. We should be ashamed of grilling one of our own, especially during fights against Yanks
it was a golden age for Boxing and a love the 90's, especially the second half of it. Chris is a Gent, a lovely guy, in 98 I was a waiter in The London Landmark and Chris was always ready to have a chat with me, I never started a conversation but he always asked me how I was, god bloke.
I always liked Chris Eubank and I always thought it strange why he was so widely misunderstood. Skillful, explosive, brave, English World Champion, hard as nails, intelligent, eccentric and a showman and yet quite often seemingly hated. I found it really bizarre at the time.
I remember watching Benn v eubank fight's at home with my dad, i asked my dad who he wanted to win he said "they are both great fighters, it will be a great fight who ever wins" You made your mark eubank....
Had he kept his edge he would've been an all time great! The Watson fight made him punch shy, he wanted to make money and hated the sport. To me he is a legend and a compassionate human being. He would walk through walls, never quit and never stayed down. I was a fan of his all the way through
Chris Eubank was a lot of things, but a loser, he was NOT. I have to admit, I hated Chris for his arrogance. What a feeble and simple mind we folks can have sometimes eh?. Chris was class, he was a showman and he didn't disappoint, whether you loved or hated him. It was all about giving the spectator what they have come to see. Chris brought it up to another level. Bless you Chris, like Nigel before you, made a believer out of me.
i also met chris in a fone shop in brighton and he was a complete gentleman, took time to shake my hand and talk about a few of his wars in the ring. I was boxing and went with my club to the NEC to watch his war against Benn and it was unforgetable. What a great time for British middleweight boxing that era was.
Wow much respect to Chris Eubank. Never watched him fight living here in the stated but after watching this video most notably both Michael Watson fights. WOW. #FROM LAS VEGAS
Took me 46 minutes to appreciate him. I didn't particularly like him in his boxing days but this has changed my perception of who and what he was about.
Chris Eubanks, Michael Watson & Nigel Benn: three warriors and three classy guys. Anybody who wants to try and knock Chris Eubank's should listen to what he says and watch what he does at 23:51. The guy has a true warrior spirit. If things hadn't turned out sadly the way they did for Michael, Eubanks would have been a legend after that fight
I loved to see him and Nigel Benn hugging in the first 25 sec. Those 2 were like Ali and Frazier! HOF! Chris has so much class, he's honest with himself, he knew he lost that 2nd fight with Nigel..( although it was a draw)..just a class act of a person! I loved that respect and genuine love for each other @ 37:20....They did bring England together! Millions watched that 2nd fight!
Very touching documentary about Chris Eubank. As a child I, like everyone else, disliked Eubank with a vengeance. But now as an adult he has become a hero. The fights he had with Nigel Benn and MIchael Watson as well as others are legendary and atmospheric. What I particularly like about this documentary is that everyone hated Eubank's guts including other fighters like Benn and Watson, but now he is best mates, or so it appears, with these guys now that the boxing gloves are off. It's beautiful and honourable that Eubank now manly hugs and kisses the guys who once wanted to rip his guts out. It's a shame that British boxing has become so glum and uninteresting today.. will we ever see the likes of Eubank again? Chris Sattaur
Love the guy, I didn't fully appreciate him in his hey-day but he knew what he was doing all along and get the impression he wouldn't have thought he accomplished what he set out to do without the losses either.
This was a wonderful retelling of the Eubank legacy. The only over-the-top ring entrances I ever appreciated we his. And the man could fight. I even loved his arrogance. He was like the great matadors, who, having turned the bull, and remaining in harm's way, turned their back on it, and casually strolled away.
"It's a philosophy, I have, to do your winning, you have to had done your losing. To see whether you can take a beating. When your on top your ok. How are you when your not on top? That's says whether you cut the mustard yep." - Chris Eubank
Nigel Ben at first was caught in the hype but at the end came to see it Chris way that both of them were from poor background and were there to better themselves and entertain people along the way!! I admire both fighters!
Ubank is a great example of a warrior beating his surroundings dominating the world we live in at the same time not bothered by negativity envy and hate that great success always attracts.
He was a "legend" at British level and "very good" at world level, not amazing in a certain department but very good at every department, a complete all rounder
If you slow it down to .25 (click the gear) and watch that shot at 24:42. The shot catches him clean on the chin snapping his jaw and whole head around so fast you cant even see it in normal speed and can barely see it here. Not only that he ducked into it at the same time...Would be like taking a baseball bat to the jaw while you try to headbutt the bat. The fact they even let him keep fighting after that when he couldn't close his mouth and looked lost and stumbling still...makes me real happy we have so much more information on concussions and referees and corner men that are looking out for their fighters long term health.
I always thought there was more to him, Tel. LOL! I was the guy who won the 40 quid in the Games room in the club when everyone said Benn would win. I said, no guys...Eubank, at that stage was practically invincible...Hope you're well son!!!! xxx (:-)
Chris - an eccentric, nuts maybe, - but what a man, annoyingly loveable, an athlete, a true champion , a superstar who deserves the respect he is know retrospectively getting - Sir Chris - knight him him just for the look on his face when he finally relises how respected he is - he deserves it . All the best Chris
That part where he talks about how he despises boxing, but is complicit in it and admits to the fact that it cannot be banned, just like prostitution. Is... such a nuanced take on recognizing humanity's demons and living with it, while asking for forgiveness because there's no other way to live. It's poetic.
What a warrior what a man bless you sir and all your family they should have a statue of you in hove town hall a gold bronze wonderfull courageous magnificent true grit
I didn't appreciate him at the time. I wanted Benn and Watson to beat him. Looking back, for me, this was the greatest era for British boxing. Eubank generated electricity. God bless Michael Watson. He was a superb fighter. On the fateful night, Eubank was outfought, outthought, against a backdrop of hatred and losing his titles. What does he do. He refuses to give up, refuses to let go. He digs in, with the world seemingly against him. And then he wins. And then he has to witness what happens to Michael. A tragic way for one of the best fights ever to end. Eubank could not be denied. But he never went for full throttle again.
Ant believe I have only just seen this vid! It goes without saying he was a TRUE legend of boxing. It was because of him that as a child I took interest in this great sport. I did not always understand him, I certainly found him “cocky” at times, and when him and Benn fought I was in Benns corner! But as someone who has followed the sport of boxing since NO ONE had grown the sport at grass routes in British biking like he did. He paved the way for the likes of Naseem and AJ to follow. At his heart he was a true warrior and I have no doubt in my mind he would of achieved even more where it not for the tragic outcome of the Watson fight. He NEVER was the same boxer then. PS anyone remember his sons fight against Spike O Sullivan? Chris Senior was banging on the canvas for the ref to stop the fight!!!

@ 13:46. WHAT A BOMB! That right hand Benn landed would have KO'd 99%...Not Chris Eubank! What a STEEL face the guy had! WOW, look at that 3x and see! That was a heavyweight blow!
GREAT documentary !!!! BRILLIANT !!!! I learned so much about Eubank I didn't know given the fact I was a bit younger during his reign and when he was fighting at his best. all I can remember from my childhood was Eubank vs Benn !!! I don't think his son has a chance of being a champion, I don't wish anything bad on the boy, I don't dislike him, I don't know him but I don't think he has what his father had and I don't think he will ever have that same drive and determination. be great if he proved me wrong though, I wouldn't be unhappy if he became the greatest lol
He never did get his full credit. A living legend. A true master of his craft.
You can say what you like about Chris Eubank, but he brought a helluva lot to UK boxing. He fought tough men, and kept an air of dignity about him that many fighters don't have or let go when they get rich. Anyone with respect would honour the man, or at least his achievements, he earned it
my apologies - who is this guy? who did he beat on the world stage? Merel being a british champ really doesn't add up to much
I totally agree - a true warrior

so good to see watson walking and talking
amen.

His hug & embrace with Benn in the latter years was truely surprising. Almost as tear jerking as his meeting Watson again
I think Chris Eubank is great. The poses and his attitude in the ring was great entertainment for me.
He was arrogant without the slightest hint of cowardliness, most arrogant people are cowards at the core, he was arrogant and confident from a place of putting his life on the line, that takes the highest level of guts and will to win.
+Woofer Cooker ..NO SHIT! He backed it all up!
Considering he duck Julian Jackson, Michael Nunn, Iran Barkley, Gerald Mcllelon, and RoyJones Jr, yeah I'd say he was a coward and a paper champion.
Best boxer ever produced in the UK. unbelievable movement.
I was too young when he was fighting but I'm shocked the Brits hated him. They (and I) loved Prince Naseem, and he was 10x more cocky. Eubank, to sum him up .... how can you not be inspired ? thank you

i love the man...... he woulda been my idol had i been watching boxing back then. great hero of a man and warrior.
You say the mate but back then he was actually a really hated boxer, but I agree he is a great inspiration and one of my favourite boxers
Chris Eubank was a lot of things, but a loser, he was NOT. I have to admit, I hated Chris for his arrogance. What a feeble and simple mind we folks can have sometimes eh?. His son piggybacks off his name unfortunately even tho he has yet to show even a glimpse of the greatness Eubank Snr has
I love this guy

A Truly Great character & a great hero & was/IS a fucking Hard bastard!!! - (As was/is Benn)... :) A 'gentle' eccentric Giant,etc,etc outside the ring!!
A legend. Whether now or in a hundred years.
This man is a true British legend

Just made him one of boxing legends. Cause I just found out about him.
As much as lot dislike him for aristocrat wannabe
I do love his gentle soul, and he is one of Brits sports legend
