      Always did, seen him and the band at Ronnie Scott's place in the 70s he had the flu but that didn't stop him given it 100%, miss him greatly.

    I saw BR and most of these musicians circa 85/86 in Gambier, Ohio. Electric performance!

    My next door neighbor was friends with Glen Franke and I invited him over for dinner.He told us some great stories about Buddy when he was in the band and also surprised to learn he did the tax preparation for the band as well.He brought over his trombone and we played some jazz tunes.A great guy.I hope Glen is doing well.

    Andy Fusco ... Greatest lead alto player of all time ... Great solo ... Liquid fire coming out of that horn .. Greatest sax section too of all time with Mintzer and Marcus ... WOW ..!

      I think Andy's best solo was in 1978 Live In Holland. Bob Kaye"s "Grand Concourse"

    Buddy was definitely on for this performance. Not easy after having played this chart 500 trillion times...

      "on"? Was he ever off?

    • @hawkrider88
      @hawkrider88 11 месяцев назад

      Yea but I think he really loved this arrangement. You could tell that he probably wished the band could play it even faster. Seriously....the tempo here was just incredible....thought his arms were going to come flying off!! And he's smiling the entire time. There is no "best drummer"....but in certain instances and categories....he had NO PEER!!!! RIP Buddy!!!!

    This is a great clip. Buddy's definitely having fun right here. Love when he answers the horns with that cymbal hit at 3:43 then brings it home.

    • @hawkrider88
      @hawkrider88 7 лет назад +4

      Yes! Not sure what year Buddy added the Swish cymbal but he uses it very effectively the rest of his career and this one particular hit....is the right hit with the right cymbal at the right time.!!!

      Swish added in 1979, the same time he added the ridiculous SynDrum. Never cared for Buddy using the swish, and of course the useless SynDrum didn't last long.
