I always thought of playing roblox on Linux, still staying in windows until it becomes more performance than windows or stable with no performance lost
There’s a way to get around non-supported pcs for windows 11 installations typically Rufus helps I’ve installed win11 multiple times on non supported pcs. But hey! All the more merrier to try something new! I made the switch a couple years ago to arch Linux and have a dual boot in case I need windows (which is very rarely).
The only problem I've faced is that whenever I press the '/' key to open chat, it just doesn't work. This only happens on games that use the old Roblox chat box.
Hmm, that’s interesting! Roblox has had many updates to their game and some developers for individualized games on the platform may have not adjusted to the changes. Have you tested other games on Roblox?
2 questions: 1. This isn't too big of a deal for me since I don't actively develop a game, but is there a way to have Roblox Studio run on Linux? 2. Does Zorin OS natively run flatpaks (aka i don't have to do any setup)? Because I know distros like Linux Mint don't require setup. Thank you for your answers in advance. (On a side note, Roblox was one of the things holding me back from deleting Windows! I'm now one step closer to becoming a full time Linux user with the only thing holding me back now being my video editor, I either have to find a video editor that fits my needs and isn't too jarring from my previous one, or I have to wait for someone to find a way to make it work on Linux)
I use kdenlive to edit my videos which I find easy to use and beginner friendly with a little walkthrough help. To answer your main questions… #1 I can research on using Roblox studio in Linux….although I’ve heard some people can get it to work I haven’t tested this just yet…I can upload a video on the issue. #2 Zorin OS does include flatpak already setup!
I installed this on my steam deck and it runs and acts perfect but I have one issue that I can't seem to find the solution too. The UI in the menu and in any game is comically smaller than what it should be, and I can't find a way to adjust it.
When i put the command to run flatpack, the app launches but it's a "Update Roblox" pop-up and it says "Update Roblox to Keep using Sober" - Continue, after selecting continue it's asks me to select the APK package, I have it, I don't know how to select it. I am kinda a newb when it comes to Linux, don't know what to do from here.
when I put the command to run "org.vinegarhq.Sober", it appears: "Roblox installation is required, starting onboarding flow UI" and then I waited 2 hours and it remained in the same phase. What should I do?
Probably 2 reasons. 1) So ROBLOX engineers can't study the code to find out how to block it and 2) So cheaters don't study the code to find out how to cheat and give ROBLOX a reason to block it.
I did this because I tried to use Roblox on my new Win11 laptop, but it wouldn’t launch. Apparently some software in Win11 is making it not start up. When I created a Win10 installation media, my disc wouldn’t show. So I installed Ubuntu. I just did this and it is fantastic.
Hi, I have a question. I've been using Sober for about 3 or 2 months (since it was released) and whenever I play a more "heavy" game like Dress to impress, my game suddenly closes, even though I'm using the lowest graphics quality. I've already configured the task manager and changed the priority to be lower (-16). I'm not a lay Linux user, I consider myself intermediate. I've been using Linux for 2 years and have taken several courses on it. When I play, my focus is on Sober (Roblox), I don't leave anything open in the background. I also notice that my CPU never gets so high that it closes Sober, it never goes above 50% I have a PC with the Ubuntu 22.04 (LTS) operating system, an Intel i3-4160 CPU, 3.60 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, an integrated Intel video card, HD 4400. I've played Roblox on PCs (with Windows operating system) that were much worse and they never closed. Also, a while ago, I used Wine/Vinegar, they weren't as good as Sober, but they didn't close. What could be the problem? Do you have any suggestions for a solution? Excuse any spelling mistakes, I used Google Translate, because I'm Brazilian.
So one major disclosure is that the software is experimental and can still feature bugs since its a passion project. As of today, I have played multiple games including dress to impress which was tested 11/13/24. It worked great for me on default settings! I will admit Sober has crashed at least twice, but it was on different occasions and for a different game. In my experience having a better graphics card does go a long way. Using integrated graphics may cause a problem since it might not have enough video memory to keep up with the demand of the application (which may not be the problem, but having a weak graphics component can be an issue..)
the only problem with sober that i have for now is that in some games for some reason the mouse sensitivity config just doesnt appear, and for some reason in the game arms of solitaire my camera doesnt move
Probably 2 reasons. 1) So ROBLOX engineers can't study the code to find out how to block it and 2) So cheaters don't study the code to find out how to cheat and give ROBLOX a reason to block it.

People are telling users to switch to linux. But Linux barely works correctly with NVIDIA graphics cards. How to switch with an NVIDIA card, let-alone with a 10-series GTX ?
On Mint when you first start up you get 'Welcome' window where you can launch 'Driver Manager' which lets you to install drivers for GPU (I have GT1030)
As long as I’ve been using Linux which has been for a couple of years now, I’ve ran it with Nvidia with minimal issues. If you want you can refer to pop os or another distro that provides Nvidia drivers out of the box for you!

@Atlant1sXD it actually Is 🤓☝️ , it's not our fault that these stupid game companys don't make a linux app, but linux is so much faster in minecraft than windows or Mac os . Also almost every linux distros promotes gaming
Linux can be known for a lot of different applications. I use linux as my daily operating system which INCLUDES gaming. It works wonderfully for a lot of triple A games using Vulkan, DXVK, and VKD3D. Halo Infinite, HITMAN 3, Sparking Zero, Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption, Roblox are all playable with very minor tweaks. In my opinion, you can utilize linux for gaming and there are various distros that offer just that! It totally is made for gaming, but as with everything there are always pros and cons.
Android is linux based so this technically already existed
Performance tweaks in a specialized runtime makes it absolutely playable, but you’re right!
It uses the Linux kernel
yes. but only the kernel. not the os itself
I wonder if they could also do the same with other games that are not available on Linux like fortnite
Yes and no. Android is the linux kernel with Manny Manny, and I mean Manny layers on top. So yeah, it's based on linux but not "basically" linux
