Yep! I actually have a small walk-in closet dedicated to travel supplies, luggage and clothing for my next trip. I generally go to places where dressing a bit nicer is required at this stage in my life, so there are no hiking pants/t-shirts, but I have dresses hung and ready to be packed in cubes. All of this involves a lot of privilege--I certainly could not have afforded to have multiple wardrobes when I was backpacking around the world in my 20s.
Great idea. I do almost the same thing, I keep a 'just in case' motel bag in my car at all times, which has toiletries, first aid, medications, my tiny laundry kit in a bag, miscellaneous, and a very small capsule wardrobe for just a few days. For a dedicated trip, I just need to add a few more clothing items and maybe one more pair of shoes. I also have my flight comfort kit always packed in my carry on, which is where I store my packing cube collection between trips. Along with my motel bag, I keep a provisions kit in my car, which has what I need to cook and eat in my hotel room, along with instant drink, soup, and oatmeal packets, some shelf stable packaged snacks, and a few MREs or freeze dried camping meals.
I make an actual checklist. That way I have more flexibility. It depends if I travel for works for a week, or an overnight at family. Flying, train, or car will also differ. Then the season, destination, and activities. Culinary City trip in the winter winter or a week at the beach doing nothing? I do have separate toiletries. I even have everything solid, including toothpaste. So no hassle if there are flights. As well as charging cable together with the toiletries. Only needed the charger itself, because the hotel did not have USB and I was in a location where I needed a different charger. Recharging was done in a restaurant where I had dinner by just asking if they had a charger. Somebody of the staff always has. The next day I bought the cheapest charger I could find. Way cheaper than an international charger or even normal charger where I live. It charged slow while I slept, so no issues for the rest of the week. And now I have it if I ever visit that country again. I also mostly go to locations where there are stores, so buying things is an option. That helps travelling light. e.g. no Ibuprofen that I can buy when I need it. Also no things that I MIGHT want to use, just in case of. I have to drag it all around the airport or train station, so less is better. With a car trip I might pack extra/
I have a roll aboard pre -packed with all my toiletries and ancillary items ready to go. Don’t bother with pre packing clothing because each vacation can be so different. Sometimes urban destination, sometimes beach vacation. Wardrobe is too different.
Brilliant! I’ve been doing this for awhile now with all the small stuff, but need to up my game with the clothing.
It definitely makes things so much easier!
SOOO smart!!! I love how clearly so much of this is born of trial and error.
Yep definitely trial and error haha!

Thanks for watching and for your packing tips!

Awesome! Yeah obviously there will be some variation with each trip. We find these are our default items and we’ll adjust if needed
Boring! I love to dress chic.
