The drive is a white-knuckle affair if there’s been recent snow, as it’s not quickly plowed after Cass, but it’s an impressively beautiful drive. I skied at Snowshoe on their closing day last season, coming from Staunton, VA and ending in Pittsburgh, PA. The scenery from Staunton was impressive almost the entire way, and the hairpin turns on 250 were fun to drive. Coming down from the mountain to 219 was also very beautiful.
Yeah I remember that drive always being "fun" especially in the winter, lots of switch backs and climbing, not for the faint of heart, lol. Nice that you got first tracks, I'm hoping it's that deserted when I hit Timberline next Thursday and snag some Monday skiing at Cataloochee on the way back home. Bit worried about all the rain they are getting up there toward the end of this week, but I at least know Timberline makes snow almost every night so they should still have enough open to make it a decent trip.
So excited to hear about your Canaan shred adventure. Get out early AM and you will enjoy every day you ski! I may have to get back and link up with you at Timberline or Canaan man!
Taking a week long vacation in Massanutten in February & may have the opportunity to take a day out to either Timberline or Snowshoe. Which one do you think is better? Thanks for the varied east-coast content!
If you're taking a day trip, I'd recommend Timberline. Cheaper lift-ticket, less treacherous drive from Massanutten, and they still have 100 percent terrain open even after all of this rainfall. Thank you!
@@Bluggardpirate honestly Timberline has the most fun green trail in the region, Salamander. And varying expert terrain. The lines can build, but nothing like you'll witness at snowshoe! You can't go wrong with either, but can't beat the pricing at timberline without sacrificing quality
@@alejandrolopez9688 Got free lodging at Massanutten, so don’t really have a choice there. So, just trying to figure out where might be a good place to ski as a day trip from there. Snowshoe seems bigger than Timberline, but heard from more than one that Timberline is better.
Hey!, Didn't I see you name on Lucas's video this morning?!! Lol. Been a long time since I've been to Snowshoe! Been heading west not east! Ha. I subbed for ya brother! See where you head!! ⛷️
@@ADHski Cool. I know it's the 11th but I won't get out there til the 22th. Would like to meet him! Was out there last year but went to Snowbasin that day with my buddy. Just as easily could have come to the meetup! I was bummed! Ha!
Hey there, unfortunately this season has had a lack of snowfall overall compared to past seasons. Usually they close mid to late March, it's been tough this season in the Mid-Atlantic!

No doubt an underrated drive. Its truly isolated for the east coast, which is rare to find!
Siiick! Love the sound of the ice! Keep it up bro!
Still 'baskin!
😂
Good video and great info. I’m so stoked to see you shred every week. Let’s go!!!
Thanks Nuno! Utah is fast approaching, going to be epic!
oh cool the first architecture firm I worked at did that new building by the lift!
That's awesome! Unique inverted ski resort, pretty cool place for sure!

The drive to Snowshoe really is no joke - in any season. Glad to see you still ripped it despite the rain!
I see they got some snow last night 👀 ❄️ flurry panic is on the way 😏
Its a flurry panic folks

@@ADHskiAwesome, thank you! I’ve heard good things about Timberline.
id recommend snowshoe, massanutten is a small mountain and snowshoe is as good as it gets in the mid Atlantic region!

Snowshoe or Timberline????
Not sure it was worth it for those conditions.. Man made granular garbage. Better than solid ice, I guess.
Hi question is this place still open in March with snow? Does it snow in March all the way through April or no?
