- This is a playthrough of Sonic Pocket Adventure for the SNK Neo Geo Pocket Colour.
Sonic Pocket Adventure's more of an obscure one due to the Neo Geo Pocket being a commercial failure, but it's a decent (albeit heavily derivative) game.

This game is the version of Sonic 2 that you see in your dreams, where everything is "slightly off" and you're misremembering various parts from the rest of the classic series.

My mom used to sell cell phones back in the day before you could get them anywhere. She had 3 locations and 2 of them were an hour away from where we lived, each in a different direction.
I'd have to stay at my grandmother's house after school and wait for mom to come back and get me late at night. The NGPC and the dreamcast were my babysitters, as my grandmother wanted nothing to do with me. This hits super hard. I'd even set the alarm on the NGPC to wake me up around the time I thought my mom would be there in case I fell asleep.

Even though this game has no story, it has such a cinematic energy.

Love how the music is all swapped around from other levels. Sometimes it still fits, sometimes not quite but it really leaves me trying to work out what level the music was from originally!

i’m still not sure why they put Doomsday Zone’s music in the game only to not use it with doomsday zone
This game has my favourite iteration of Sonic’s jumping animation, looks super satisfying to me.

I love how this game seamlessly puts together ideas from Sonic 1, 2, and 3 to make a perfect little "Sonic the Hedgehog" game.
Like, yeah, a lot of these levels are just the Sonic 2 zones with Sonic 3 music, but I like how they mix Scrap Brain Zone from Sonic 1 with elements of Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2 to make Gigantic Angel Zone.
My personal favorites are the creative bosses of Secret Plant with the physics based swinging platforms and ESPECIALLY Gigantic Angel Zone where you have to stand on top of the MUSHROOM CLOUD EXPLOSIONS from the NUKES Dr. Eggman drops on you to hit him!
Bottom line, it's no wonder how this game got a 10/10 review on IGN.
Damn, this game is 70% sonic 2, 10% sonic 1 and 20% sonic 3 & knuckles
Just played the game! It's very good! It captures the escence of the Mega Drive Classics very well(Not bad for a handheld game)
So they took the level design of sonic 1, the layout of sonic 2, and the music of sonic 3 and knuckles. And created a masterpiece
This game has such a bangin' soundtrack

Isn't this just Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with Sonic and Knuckles' soundtrack and Megaman graphics? I'm surprised nobody has commented on that.
when I emulated this 4 years ago, I noticed that exact same thing. I still had fun with it, tho. this is the only sonic game I emulated, mainly because I am not buying a neo geo pocket color for this one game.
I'm currently working on this game, and my goodness, is it hard! I really love the 8-bit remixes of older Sonic games, especially the newer Special Stage music (it was, of course, very catchy)! 😁😄

• You enter special stages like Sonic 1 (and also has Scrap Brain zone)
• Has most of Sonic 2’s zones and its special stages
• Has the Sonic 3 OST, like you said originally
• It’s basically the 8-bit Sonic 3 the Master System and Game Gear never got.

I love the graphics
The graphics are seemingly 8-bit but the gameplay looks just as smooth as the Genesis/Megadrive counterpart. I would get a NeoGeo Pocket Color just for this game. I wonder if it was ported to any other platform.

Sonic pocket aventures that’s cool that they might the chaos emeralds so once you get all seven you can turn into super sands how they should make you can go in the super sands in the sonic games press a or B

And its pretty sad that nowadays all the chaos emeralds do are continuing the story and follow a final boss or the emeralds dont even exsist and you just gotta download a dlc
Only downside is the camera is 10-15% too close besides that seems legit imo

Simple the best of remake the Sonic game.
I'm not even suprised how this game got scored a 10 on IGN.
But Aside that, The game feels like Sonic Generations but with only Classic.

Sonic Jam for Game(dot)com came out over 1 year before this on 10 july 1998. This came out December 4, 1999

They did to the Sega Genesis and removed and replaced all the zones

It was released on the Neo Geo Pocket Color, however that console is pretty rare. You can always emulate it tho :)
not rare where i live. you can pick them up for £70, however Sonic Pocket Adventure itself is about £100... So expensive, but not rare, as I always see plenty online
