    This is one of the most intriguing under-explored topics in history to me. It's also set in a very interesting time period, a preview of early Spanish colonization in what we consider the late Middle Ages, in a time before the Reconquista was even complete. Thanks for your work.

    French wiki also alludes that de Béthencourt had knowledge of the islands prior to the crusade because Grainville was a local textile center and already used orcein.
