Hello from Tenerife. OK as far as it goes, but you would need hours to really understand these islands. Indeed raw and beautiful. Canarian species are very different. The culture is rich and a mixture of African, South American, Guanche and Spanish. I love it here.
My grandparents are from the Canary Islands they moved to Cuba where they had my mom. I dont know anything else about them or the Canary Islands this is an excellent informative documentary. Thanks
At 15:58, the rock appears to be a map of the Canary Islands. You can see the peninsula of Fuerteventura at the middle center bottom, almost the exact shape thereof, and 5-6 all islands in a row to the right of it. The smaller figures appear to be boats. It`a a map. It may have been made at a time when the sea level was lower?
Its an old video. Cant you tell. If you were expecting Stormzy to appear and get down with the fauna reel rap style, keep it reel stuff, tuff. It was still interesting to watch. I always like James Mason narrating.
Thanks to those people help keeping those islands clean and less inhabited. I appreciate how the people feed the lizards. I do like the advanced communicative style those people use whistle to commute. I do like the observatory on la Palma! Very pristine in view worth. Let’s keep it that way. How did those camels get there? Thank you for such a balanced video?

Partially true. Guanches did live there, but only on the island of Tenerife. Inhabitants of other islands had their own names (Bimbaches, Benahoaritas, Gomeritas, Majos, etc.).
Love Gran Canaria. So clean. Much prefer las palmas as it seems less commercial than the more popular tourist sites. The beach and mountains are beautiful...and great for shopping. 😍

If you want party go to Tenerife (south) or the eastward islands. Hiking Is better on the westward islands because they are younger and are less eroded. But for families every island is perfectly fine. Enjoy :)
I'm from Las Islas Canarias. I was born in Güimar, Tenerife in 1970. My mother is from Tenerife, my father from Lanzarote. My parents left the Islands in 1972 and we migrated to Australia to escape from General Franco. I have been back 4 times. In 1982 age 12 years for 3 months, age 18 in 1988 for one year to finish high school, in 1990 - 1994 age 20-24 for four years to work, again in 1994 as I came to Australia for a month holiday, returned to Tenerife, then at the end of the year flew back to Australia. I would never live there again. Even though I am from there, have lived and worked there and my entire relatives are from there, I don't identify with the locals because I've grown up as an Australian under that lifestyle. I had a boyfriend for the 4 years I lived there and in the end he broke up with me because I was far too "modern" for his taste. Canarian men, like all Latin origin men, like to dominate and control their women. Now, I'm no feminist, I am a traditional woman, have been married for 18 years, have a son that I homeschool. So, I'm old fashioned. But "old fashioned" to an Australian raised woman is different to a Canary Island raised woman. They are completely different. I wasn't willing to be dominated like a personal possession and put up with a rude, sexist male attitude in a man. My husband is Australian and I submit to him, but he doesn't dominate me like a Spanish man would. He earns all the family income, he gives me a small allowance to spend on food for the week, he takes care of the bills, but if I need money for anything I need to ask his permission. My husband is more of a feminist than I could want to be myself. He actually wants me to work full-time and bring money into the home. I'm the more old fashioned, traditional one in our relationship!! But, I simply cannot put up with Spanish attitude to life in general. They are not my "people", just my "ancestry". Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely set of Islands to holiday in, but to live amongst hard-headed, pig-headed & backward attitudes in both men and women is not my kind of idea of a good life. I'll stick to Australia- the "lucky country "!
