- Scary RV Modifications
When we bought our used 2018 Winnebago MIcro Minnie, we knew we would never again have a trailer that new. But, in order for it to be usable, we were going to have to have the queen size bed replaced with two twin size beds. Sharon had watched videos and seen people renovated their RVs. Changing out the bed was doable.
Since we were changing the beds anyway, we decided to have a crate for Sharon's dog Theo put under her bed. Under MiLena's bed we put two large drawers. Theo loves his crate. If we are up and he thinks it's time to go to bed, he puts himself in the crate. We can't imagine traveling without the drawers under MiLena's bed. The Micro Minnie didn't have much space for foldable clothes. The drawers solved that problem.
While we were making modifications, we decided to have the stove and oven taken out. Our purpose for doing that was twofold. First, we had used an RV oven about twice when we had the fifth wheel. Both times we were trying to make toast, and both times we failed. So we considered RV ovens to be storage space. If we had it taken out, we could have drawers put in where the oven had been. The other purpose of removing those was the lack of counter space. Because the stove raised about an inch above the counter, we had virtually no counter space. By taking out the propane stove, and replacing it with a propane camp stove, we have some counter space.
In the kitchen we did have the stove and oven removed. We had two fairly large drawers put where the oven had been. That gave us somewhere to put spices and seasonings. It also gave us somewhere to put our pots and pans. We've never regretted the decision to remove the stove and oven.
Probably the easiest modification we made was in the bathroom. It had a rather large closet with one shelf on top. We had a shelf added to that, so we now have 3 shelves. Sharon and MiLena each have one shelf, and the top shelf is often where we keep fresh fruit.
If you are looking at making modifications to your RV, you might want to watch videos on which people have made modifications. You might be surprised at some of the things that are possible to change.

We found about 4 manufacturers who made floorplans we could work with. All of the came with queen beds, but we knew they could be taken out and replaced with twins. The deciding factor for us was that the Micro Minnie was 7' wide. Our fifth wheel had been 8'. Having a trailer that's a foot narrower has been wonderful.
Hey I just saw you young ladies parked at the superstore !!❤ blessing
Me too!! lol
@@TheeBakedJake We were there. Wish we could have met you
@@TheeBakedJake Glad you saw us. Would have loved to have met you.
You two simply amaze me. We don't have an RV, probably never will, but I love watching your videos because they are amazing.
Thanks. We knew we didn't want t pay what they were asking for new ones. In order for the Micro Minnie we got to be one we could enjoy, we had to get rid of the queen bed.
Thanks gal. I made my motorhome to suit me and my animals: tore up the captain seats, flooring, even the passenger seat. Put my queen Anne chair and oriental rug making it cozy and homey
@@sueweis1489 It sounds perfect for you. If you don't enjoy your RV, it will sit in your driveway while you look for another way to travel.
I remember when you all made thise changes. Knowing and being realistic about your needs and how you will use it goes a long way.
@@luisreviews6412 We still love it. It's working beautifully for us.
Nice Modifications Ladies !! Thank You For Sharing Your Thoughts And Ideas. I Always Enjoy Your Video Content. GOD Bless.
@@texasjoe3261 We try to post videos that will show people that they do have options with their RVs.
Very nice video. We enjoy watching the two of you! Interesting background story of your choices.
@@mariaperham1851 Thank you. The renovations are the only that have made it perfect for us.
Thank you for that important reminder about God’s protective presence in our lives! Such a perfect life analogy!
@@KarenBickel-y9i Thank you for watching.
That's what my microwave is for, bread storage. Yeah, we have an oven also and only used it once just for the sake of using it. Nice job on your improvements!
@@bertkelly7650 Thank you very much, Bert.
Good morning ladies you have to modify a lot of things if you want to in your RV
@@AlbertoMartinez-lq6ov It made the difference in our loving our travel trailer or just keeping it until we found something better.
Morning girls! It’s been a busy summer. I’m not the bravest modifier - I’ve always been an OEM guy. But owning an RV, you’re going to have to modify something.
Meanwhile - my buddies and I are drilling a well up by Ponca City - so I’m pulling Big Bertha out to Kaw Reservoir. Taking a page out of y’all’s book and staying at the core of engineers park for the first time. Electric and water only but that’s fine - it’ll be just me except for when the kids come Friday. Weather should be a little warm but the season has changed - should be nice
@@carltuckerson7718 Depending on how old the kids are, COE parks often have great playgrounds.
They’re little still and so yes the playgrounds matter. I have to say this is one of the nicest, most spaced out, peaceful, well kept parks I’ve ever been to. I wish I could share the pictures on here. Had the kids last night and it was fantastic.
Nice! We have the exact same RV and I've been considering adding doors onto our kitchen bench seats. To basically make that storage area more accessible. I'd also love to take out our shower completely because we never use it, but since plumbing is involved I'm a little scared. For now I just stack a few totes in the shower and use it as storage space that way. Anyway, love your videos as always and appreciate the encouragement to make our RV our own. :)
@@MaryZeti Making it your own is very important to us. Now that we've painted it, people who see us on the road feel free to tell us where they last saw us.
We have the Winnebago 2108TB. Has twin beds (or king, if wanted). The only thing I wish we had was theater seats instead of dinette.
@@sandragrissom4802 If you know a carpenter, have him give you an estimate on how much it will cost to make the changes you want. It could be really affordable.
@@TwoTiredTeachers my uncle is a carpenter. Lives next door. Maybe I'll ask him. Thanks.
Where are your adventures taking you ladies next? I just found your channel when I saw you girls parked at our local superstore. As a fellow adventurer, there’s a lot of beautiful sights here in alberta
