I kept tuning the strings until it hit the green light, but whenever I began to practice certain notes, I noticed that the ukulele still sounded like it was out of tune. I thought, “I just tuned it. Maybe it’s supposed to sound like this”. I then went on youtube to find a song that I have been wanting to practice and noticed that my ukulele sounded much different than the person teaching the song. Luckily, I stumbled across this video and realized that my F# string wasn’t actually supposed to sound like that, and instead, be tuned to a G note. Thank you again for making this video. Now my ukulele is ready to play with the correct notes!

This is the go-to video for first time stringed instrument players. Right on Ms.B. I just got a clip on tuner awhile back and it helps so much over the phone app. This is a great step by step tutorial. Yeah I've done that~turning the C tuner wondering why the G didn't change sound. Ahh, the press, stretch, pull technique. When I make my first ever string change this is the Ms.B method I shall use, Thanks. Seeing the subtitles was helpful. When you said reviewing helps plant the knowledge, it did. May sound weird yet I'm looking forward to changing strings to try this technique. Glad I got the notification to "tune" into this nugget of knowledge. Happy day Ms.B.

Do it left to right. So starting from the left to the right ( while the ukelele is facing you) G: good C: cats E: eat A: avocados So from your left to your right your strings start with the G string and end with the A string. Yes I got this from someone in the comment section but you guys look like you could use it.
It is always great to go back to the basics. I love clip-on tuners. At the moment I need to use the tuner on my phone but I think it is so inconvenient while a cilp-on tuner is so much easier to work with!

I should probably really get a clip-on tuner 🤔 The fact that you started the "musical alphabet" with A was so counter-intuitive for me (even though it clearly made the most sense here) because I always only learned it through piano keys starting at C 😅 Also, did you know that the note B is called H in German? It was very confusing when I started learning music in English because in German B-flat is called B. So this alphabet wouldn't even work in German 😱
You probably should 😂 I’m so sorry to have confused you by starting on A!!!! I just think about the alphabet in a continuous loop, so I don’t think of it as having a beginning (or an end, for that matter). I had no idea about the German difference! So glad you’re here to expose me to that :)

Luisa, it is worse than that. The musical alphabet does start with C. A C in the third octave is a C3, while the next note down is a B2. This can be a problem when using the chromatic tuner. It is good to use your ear as well when tuning.

One thing you helped me with that no one on youtube mentions is the fact about how you uke comes fresh out the box. Trying to tune it haveing it set to uke lol so difficult. Came here herd what you said about the c mode and it instantly made it sound so good 👍🏽

actually ma'am... when I bought it... that time it got tuned... then I travelled with it to another city, that time when you came to India... after that the string went off! I couldn't tune it after that!
Oh, god! Thank you so much for this video! I know this will sound stupid, but I bought my ukulele a couple of months ago and I've been tuning it using the U setting of the tuner. I could not find on the web why my uke sound so weird. Turns out I was playing at G-A-E-G all the time. I did ask the guy at the store how to tune it, but he failed to mention that first tuning. He simply said to "put it on U setting and tune until it flashes green". I guess it's easy to forget how complete beginners will miss what seems obvious to veterans musicians. Thanks again!

my Uke doesn't like to be tuned when I go to the c string... all other ones are easy though! 😔
