I love this routine! So many people talk badly about it because Beth looks "robotic" and "not elegant" like gymnastics "should be." I think the real thing that makes an amazing and memorable floor routine is how well the choreography suits the music and the gymnast. This choreography was perfectly designed for the music, and Beth performed it excellently. Bravo!
I LOVED how the BBC commentators were supporting beth throughout the competition (while still respecting the other gymnasts), I think it was really sweet. Whereas NBC's way of supporting the american girls is trashing and underrating other girls
For those who gripe about this routine, saying it’s “robotic and not elegant,” go watch rhythmic gymnastics and shut up. It’s an individualized sport that allows for individual interpretation.
I am shocked so many people are making neagtive comments about this routine...she was absolutely amazing and deserved the GOLD. Despite having only 3 tumbing passes, they were extremely difficult passes...any of the top gymnasts can add a double pike as the final pass, including her, if she really needed to...and many often do that just to add a 4th...in her case it wasn't necessary.
@LoveGym96 I'm sure. Most gymnasts do 5 acrobatic moves and 3 dance moves (especially the stockier gymnasts) but you don't need to. An example is Anna Myzdrikova's 2009 routine. She used a double Arabian, triple full, 2 1/2 twist, and a double pike for acrobatic elements. Then she used a switch ring, a split leap 1/1, a Semenova turn, and a double turn with leg at horizontal for dance elements. So she went 4 and 4. I believe Ana Porgras does 4 and 4 too. Full-in, double pike, double tuck, 2.5...
I was there! It was electric... I just wished she'd gone last so we didnt al have to wish everyone else wouldnt surpass her for the other 7 routines....
@LoveGym96 Gymnasts don't have to do 5 acrobatic moves. At least 3 of the 8 elements in a routine must be dance elements. You could have only 1 acrobatic move counted towards your D score and have 7 dance elements.
@glenndelossantos15 Gymnasts have to do 5 acrobatic moves, not 5 passes! Well, i think that Lauren deserved this medal because she had great passes and lovely choreo, but Beth is great on floor.
This is one of the most ugly routines I've ever seen. This has nothing to do with artistic gymnastics, only with tumbling. I really hate the fact that she's won.. Myzdrikova for example was só much more beautifull!
The routine was unique and different. She didn’t make a big mistake- unlike the gymnast you seem enamored of. It’s not ballet or dance class, it’s artistic gymnastics- which means the athlete can interpret it her own way!
Beth Dominated the 2009-2012 quad Go Beth!

She maintains great form while twisting. Just beautiful

she has such amazing crowd connection!!!!
@comanecisalto1 yeap :) I love BBC commentators too~ they dont prejudice to any country, but genuinely comment on each gymnast's skill :-D
A spin. I know they have to do both, but the spin, to me, was quite hard to spot because she didn't set it up like a normal spin :)

well the last run was a 2 1/2 punch into a full so i guess you can say that
i want that leo...and those skills
what is her floor music
Pirueta e meia ao passo duplo twist grupado
Dos Santos 1
Dupla e meia bate pirueta

@xPlumpxPersonx at 01:26 :)
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 you are correct
full twist or full spin?
8.550 execution? those judges need to be slapped
It was 2009. Things were different back then. Female gymnasts could still get E-scores over 9.0 on events that weren't vault.
If you think you’re an expert get off your lazy mouthy arse and go become one! Otherwise you’re nothing but a meaningless hypocrite.
@ShawnVikaKomova2012 Are you sure?? commentators always talk about 5 acro moves and 3 dance moves..
Did she do a Full spin?? (I'm new to gymnastics!)

@21najafast Ah, Thank you =)
@21najafast Ahhh, Thank you :)
@PeachVampire94 I'm a chick haha, and def not a perv. I think the noise she makes is hilarious.
she's so stiff, like when she was moving her hips it was very robotic
That was the interpretation of the music- it was unique and different. Don’t like it? Don’t watch then.
i love beth but the choreo deffinatley needs some work
It’s unique and different- it’s not just about ballet and “dancing.” There is no one formula for how to do it.

Myzdrikova also made a huge mistake on her third pass.
