Kayla is the first American gymnast to win the World vault title. Then Alicia Sacramone won in 2010. And McKayla in 2011. Three vault golds at Worlds in a row. Go USA.
Unfair score. She deserved 15.300. The only deductions was the little bent arms, the crossed feet (just at the end of the vault) and the separated legs on landing. But she was far away from the table, the twists was gorgeous and, most important, she FUCKIN STUCK THE VAULT! Judges, what a weed, huh??
i have never seen a better performed DTY...i don't see where the judges found deductions in that vault other than the tiny bit of crossed legs during the second twist-ish...she was directly on center, line fully round in the double twist, and spot on the landing...great job here kayla williams!!!
where were the .8 in deductions for the DTY? i'd love to see the score card.... a little for legs seperated on landing, maybe a tiny amount for bent arms on the horse, a tiiiny form break when she was preparing for landing that was practically invisible. maybe .3-.4? I don't see it. GREAT vault.
She went back to level 10 after 2009 (I think). But I highly doubt she would have made the 2012 Olympic team. Her strong event is vault, and the USA had multiple incredible amanars to choose from, while Kayla only vaulted a DTY.
She decided to retire from elite and go to college instead (Alabama I believe) and had a stellar collegiate career. She’s now a lawyer I think. You are definitely right- she likely wouldn’t have done more than be an alternate for that team.
me too... but all the E-Scores are ridiculously low. At least in the women's competion. I mean, only 2 9s were given during ALL the finals. this one and youna dufournet's for her 2nd vault. imo they should be a little bit higher which would make it more realistic. I don't like the fact that the 9 somehow seems to be the new 10 o.o
@LoveGym96 Hong Un Jong (2008 vault Olympic champion) is still competing and Alicia Sacramone has returned to competition (and her Rudi is even better!).
@legalglitz and @Ineedthat06, she retired from elite last year and decided to go the collegiate level. She will be competing for the University of Alabama this 2011-2012 season.
@kvha1316 well she qualified to the elite level in 2009 and right before the nationals she had her birthday which made her age eligable for senior competition
I think there were issues with changes of coaches which put her out of training. She competed at the Nastia Liukin cup under mary lee tracy as her coach in 2011, and is now a sophomore competing for Alabama Crimson Tide who were NCAA Champions. She rocks vault and beam for them especially.
She is now a NCAA Champion and will look to help Alabama defend their title next year against Marissa King, Bridget Sloan, the Caquatto sisters (Florida)
@legalglitz She had some problems at her gym I think, I know that she ended up having to retire from elite, went back to L10 and ended up finding a new gym with Mary-Lee Tracy. She competed in 2010 & 2011 Nastia liukin cups and is now at Alabama. Hoping she wins VT title in NCAAs this year!
@randomsmilezzz Yeah I watch the Super Girl Cup on youtube after I asked that. I'm glad she going to college maybe I will get to see her perform every week!

I love the British commentators so respectful to every country and don't degrade other countries like tim and Ellie do
Tumbs up if you watch her 2nd vault over and over and still amazed, i will never get tired of watching it,
It’s still SO GOOD
One world medal at the elite level before retiring and going to college… and it’s a GOLD. Can’t beat that!
THAT YURCHENKO 2 TWIST SHOULD SCORE 9.5 OR SOMETHING!!
the second vault should have been a 15.600

2nd vault was way underscored

Really only slight arm bend and slightly crossed feet. It was near text book. So beautiful and a perfect stick.
2nd vault was underscored!!!!!

Her second vault was amazing!! She is my favorite!!
how on earth did they get a 9.175? They barely took deductions at that point so thats ridiculous

That was the best DTY I've seen since Zamo in 2000.
Me gusta más como salta ella que Alicia Sacromone

Her coach Bozhi was an Olympian and she came from my gyms rival

@arter24 she was at the nastia liukin super girl cup so ya :)
Exactly! I feel like the judges deduct everything possible, and then a few extra tenths just for the heck of it. It drives me nuts!
Is Kayla still doing gymnastics?
@randomsmilezzz Yeah I watch the Super Girl Cup on youtube after I asked that. I'm glad she going to college maybe I will get to see her perform every week!
i wish she stayed senior elite and didnt retire to do NCAA
@mchur001 she looks half black half white. So half of her heritage is black.
That DTY 😍
@legalglitz I was wondering the same thing ... I thought she would be a star
Ariella looks A LOT like Nastia...
and then 1 year later Alicia come back and wins the vault gold doing the samevaults with better form
why did she not compete in the olympics?
That E score on her DTY was a joke
@Holycani
Williams' heritage isn't black.
*elfie
I doubt it's racial, but it's still insane. =)
These girls are very good, but vault will never be the same without gymnasts like Cheng Fei, Sacramone, Chusovitina, Zamo..
she looks like she has a cold...
