    Thanks for the review. Now I'm convinced to purchase this lens. I have the 18mm f1.4 but I want a wider for architecture photos. I was leaning toward Samyang but I heard a lot of issues. Then I heard a lot of good things about this 13mm. Thanks again

    Fantastic review. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos and video examples. As so many have said this is the lens Fuji should have made years ago. Not sure why they never have. You really cant distinguish the images made from this lens to a fuji lens. Viltrox did an amazing job. Sure it would be nice if it were smaller but no lens is perfect in every conceivable way. Thanks again for the review.

    I used to sport the Fuji 16mm f1.4, but it had a noisy and slowAF motor which drove me nuts for video. I sold that and bought the new 18mm f1.4. As my ultra wide option I got the Fuji 8-16mm f2.8 because I got tired of waiting for the Viltrox 13mm f1.4. I don’t think I’ll need to buy the Viltrox 13mm now unless I want it as a prime for gimbal work.

    Beautiful images Andrei. I'm on the fence with this lens because it is almost too sharp. It's such a huge departure from a 'film' look that I notice the sharpness before anything else in the image. Impressive regardless.

    That's it, I'm ordering this lens :) - I love the 12mm Samyang but sometimes it gets very low contrast if there are any light sources, I get some amazing photos but it's tricky to avoid glare and to nail focus, it sounds like this solves these 2 problems.

    Looks to be a great lens for the Fuji lineup. For me it was a toss up between the Viltrox and the Fujifilm XF16 1.4 and ended up with a second hand copy of the 16mm. I went with the 16mm to be my all-round everyday lens, and it is one of my favourite focal lengths to work with. It fits in my kit alongside a 35 1.4, Kamlan 50mm 1.1 II, and a XF70-300.

      @@AndreiDimaReviews I picked up the 16 1.4 some months ago. Having used the 24mm focal length in the past with Lumix LX100, XF 16 2.8, and 16-80, I knew the focal length was just right for me. 18mm didn't quite cut it, I needed that extra drama from the 16mm.
      The 16 1.4 has blown me away. I took it to Mexico on a trip as my sole lens, and I ended up creating photos that I was very proud of. The entire operation of the lens is perfect for my workflow and the AF keeps up. The close focus is a great benefit, and the overall quality, size, build and weight balances perfectly with my X-E3 with wood grip. If I had to keep one lens that would be it.

    Amazing review. I have a question for you. How can we get crisp images and avoid the bokeh in landscapes when you shoot at f1.4. with this lens? What precautions to take while shooting to avoid the gross distortion at the wide ends of the picture? Please suggest. Thanks. That looks like a great lens. I want a wider lens and am thinking about buying either your just reviewed Viltrox 13mm f1.4 or a used Fuji XF 10-24mm f/4. The used Fuji would be a few hundred dollars more money, but has the greater range of focal lengths. The Viltrox has that much wider aperture though. Currently the only lens I have for my XT3 is the 18-55 kit lens it came with.
    I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on these lenses, and the choice I want to make. What would you choose?

    • @AndreiDimaReviews
      @AndreiDimaReviews  2 года назад +1

      If you use a tripod most of the time and don't shoot stars get the 10-24 because it is more versatile. If you plan on doing astrophotography and take photos without a tripod in low light get the Viltrox. The Viltrox is also better for video but you already have a good video lens the 18-55. They are both great option.

      @@AndreiDimaReviews I just found the following comment/review on Amazon, did you notice this problem? (I'm sure you would have said something). Here's the comment: "I won't go through the troubleshooting steps I took to ensure that this lens indeed has problems, but on my copy of the Viltrox 13mm 1.4, tested on both an Fujifilm X-T3 and X-H1 camera, the lens contacts cause the LCD panel (and EVF) to repeatedly flash on and off. I removed the lens, mounted a FujiFilm XF 14, and there were no issues; I tried the new FujiFilm XF 23 1.4, and again no issues. When I remounted the Viltrox, the EVF and LCD panel both start flashing and you cannot use the camera". Did he just get a bad copy?

    Hi man, thanks for this. I noticed a lot of wobbling at the corners, and this is exactly what I was scared to see. The samyang is better in this regard, and unfortunately theis wobbly behaviour is the only reason why I am not 100% convinced with the 10-24. This Viltrox seems not to solve the issue, so I'll probably going to cancel my pre-order. Thanks again, it was really useful to save me 500€
    Edit: I was talking about video performance, I added this comment later as I realized it wasn't clear in my initial message

    • @shred3005
      @shred3005 2 года назад

      Hi, when you say “wobbling in the corners” are you saying that straight lines bend one way then bend back? I thought I saw that on a tree at the corner but maybe the trunk wasn’t straight! There were enough photos here by Andrei to show that I think Viltrox have done quite a decent job with the rectilinear distortion in the corners. When you get to such wide angle lenses then of course there is distortion. Otherwise it would be a fisheye lens if it wasn’t rectilinearly corrected. Some lenses do show a waving lines in the corners. Not sure I’m seeing that here and can only tell if you’re photographing a perfect grid pattern of course.

    • @LucaPetraliaPhotography
