His thinking was in line with the Dahlia Lahma... science can be just as esoteric, especially from the perspective of universal interconnectedness
There aren't many modern franchises ran by one man like Lucas and Star Wars for years. That being said if George would have kept going I think it would have ended up similar to One Piece and its creator Oda. The fan base may not always be happy, we may not always understand Oda's choices, but he gets the benefit of the doubt because he is the creator of the series and he is just expanding his dream reality how he sees fit. Gene Roddenberry and his family got to expand Star Trek and the fans accepted it, Tolkien fans enjoyed his son finishing some of his other works because he had an idea what his father wanted to do.
Would love to see this fleshed out more and released as a book trilogy by George (even if it’s not canon, doesn’t matter). I’ve always thought of the core movies as the pillars to be filled in with various games/cartoons/books/comics/etc; but the movies specifically have to really hit the mark. 1-6 are really special to me and led to so much media to fill in the spaces in between. He definitely did things very differently with the prequels, and I think also doing the same for his sequels (focusing on things on a more metaphysical level with the Whills and midichlorians; while having the more traditional SW story conflict in parallel) would have also setup it’s own unique story pillars to build around. The classic SW light vs dark stories and beloved characters would still fill in many details, as well as many EU/Legends tales such as Thrawn, the Vong, etc. But something on a microscopic/cellular level would have been truly unique and opened up a lot (the nature of existence, how small human conflicts may be in relation to it); heck even tying it into other powerful beings like Abeloth or the Mortis gods would be cool. Really so many possibilities. It’s a shame Bob Iger even said that they specifically wanted to do a rehash movie for episode 7. Such a missed opportunity. Hopefully George can flesh out his ideas and they can let him release some books some day Thanks for the video Stupendous!
I think if Lucas had played this out as 1.) a Luke voice-over reading the opening scroll as a Star Wars universe-compatible version of Lucas’s own words about the relationship between the Whills and the midi-chlorians (read in this video) and perhaps mirrored at some point in the first or second movie as a sort of observed understanding that Luke develops, and 2.) the process of understanding the mystery of the midi-chlorians and the subsequent discovery, knowledge, and understanding of the Whills being part of Luke’s journey as he rebuilds the Jedi Academy (while also at the same time perhaps learning about the looming threat of a resurgent Maul and his new apprentice Talon and informing the New Republic), this would have turned out as an incredibly acceptable plot line for a Lucas sequel trilogy.
I love this. This is new higher level. Deeper.Maul returns.Maul would be perfect villain. I'm not sure Anakin Chose One being a mantle,to Leia. But I like this. First movie about Father, second about Son,third about Daughter. Holy Trinity. I like this. May the Force be with you too and have a phenomenal day too😊
I wonder if this.can still be done without breaking current canon? I'm fine with a Maul returning from the dead again. I always liked the adventures that Luke has in the comics and this sounds cool. Star Wars Legacy is a series that I always revisit and Darth Talon is an immaculate character design, especially the concept art from Force Awakens. Even if they do a separate legends line, I think it would be a smart move for Disney to do this story.
@@BSM-vw6cfPeople can rightfully mud TROS and it’s dialogue choices, but the Last Jedi sounds like catering to the worst part of Disney that is Marvel dialogue. If Leia’s “fly an Xwing and make things go boom” is as parallel to Steve Rogers’ “Put on your suit” line, then I fear we’re not far in Star Wars to hearing that gen-z composed insult language like “dipshit“
I would have been all up for this story, I heard about George's vision for his sequel trilogy a while ago. I think making the sequel trilogy an acid trip of a story that is based around Leia would have distinguished itself from the OT and the Prequels. The Whills are a concept I have wanted Star Wars to expand upon for years. I probably would have used the Force Priestesses as a way to draw Luke and Leia's attention to the Whills. It would have either been them or Anakin. I don't think the Chosen One being a mantle would have went over well though. That being said, this story would have been the perfect opportunity to show everyone explicitly what balance means in Star Wars.
This would have been a great sequel trilogy going where i never expected. The shift in story makes it more compelling. I would have loved to see his 4th trilogy with the grandkids of luke and leia. Please do more videos like this. You are the only star wars channel I enjoy on utube.
I’ve always thought the midichlorian thing was silly, but I wanted to see Luke putting the Jedi order back together…even if it would be polarizing, it would have still been more entertaining I feel like.
I wonder if Darth tenabris (idk how to spell it - plagueus’s master) would’ve been brought up due to his scientific approach to the force, medichlorians, etc.

Honestly, I wish Lucas had pursued this project. Not just because of Disney, but because the man had a vision and I think it would have become something truly iconic, like Wagner was to opera.
I think that people watching would want to see a sith as a antagonist. After all Star Wars as seen by the general media is a fight between the Jedi and sith
As someone who never disliked the prequels as a whole, though I didn't like the idea of Midiclorians, I accepted them as George Lucas' vision and enjoyed the story, especially as it pertained to the entire arc of Anakin from his birth and ascension to power, then his fall to the Dark Side, and finally his redemption because of his son. The story told by Lucas from I through VI is really a brilliant and moving one; and again, it's Lucas' story. The Disney sequel trilogies were not Lucas' story. Even so, they could have been good stories themselves but they just weren't -- individually or collectively. It was obvious where the whole thing was going from the time that the first trailer dropped for The Force Awakens. And the controversy surrounding them isn't over: they're still bad and divisive. So, we will never know whether Disney could've given us something good and satisfying because it didn't happen and you cannot "undo" what has been done. Had George Lucas produced his own sequel trilogy, while it might not have been great, and it might have ended up being similarly divisive, it would've had the benefit of being his vision and we could have appreciated it -- or not -- on that basis. The idea of a story being told from the perspetive of micro-organisms seems odd, granted, but that doesn't mean it would've been necessarily bad. I think the biggest challenge facing any sequel trilogy, no matter who led it, is that the core Skywalker saga -- the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker -- ended in Episode VI. So, anything after that really doesn't have anything to do with that and starts to be its own thing. Anakin/Vader is gone. The Emperor is gone. The Empire is gone. You can do a story from the perspective of Luke & Leia trying to put things together again for the Jedi and the Republic, but now you're starting to tell a different story. At that point, it wouldn't really seem like a sequel, but the start of something else. Bringing back Darth Maul would be cool... like a sort of bookend. But still, since the core saga is over, it would seem underwhelming. And then you ARE starting to tell the same story again, with a nefarious evil cult of some sort trying to overthrow/regain power in the Galaxy. Anyhow, I think the best thing that can be said about a hypothetical George Lucas sequel trilogy is that it would at least have been the story he wanted to tell, and we could have evaluated it from that standpoint. As it stands, what we got was just crap. And with George Lucas getting up in age and Disney still owning the rights to Star Wars, we will probably not ever see his vision in our lifetimes if ever.
One thing you have to keep in mind with Star Wars - although they are very popular films, they are more arthouse films than „blockbusters“ in spirit. They are a lot about the ideas and philosophy. And bar a repetition of the themes of the original trilogy and some confused stuff about legacy the sequels have none. That’s why they are comparatively forgettable. And it’s also a larger problem with a lot of Star Wars now. These films if anything would have been interesting and probably a true expansion of what had come before, not a simple repeat.
There was no need for a sequel trilogy. I think the original and prequels really told the story that was needed because it was all about Anakin/Vader and the rise and fall of Palpatine and we saw both the beginning, middle, and end of all that. If anything, George could have done an epilogue movie (Episode VII) that dealt with the rebuilding of the New Republic and the new generation of Jedi but a hybrid of them and the Sith known as "Skywalkers" all orchestrated by Luke who gave the name after himself as he's learned to embrace both the light and dark to create a better balance of the warriors. In the meantime, the last bit of evil lurks in the galaxy which is where Darth Maul could come in to take over where Palpatine left off and he's defeated. Boom, just a solo movie to wrap up both trilogies and call it a day.
indeed. i went to a force awakens to see the solo kids and such.... mara jade etc. but i got none of that instead i got a mary sue who can do everything and a boring movie
@sheilaolfieway1885 The whole ST was anti-OT/PT. It was terrible. I don’t blame the actors, though. I blame poor planning/writing and execution. Disney didn't embrace Star Wars lore - they tried to erase it.
"this is something that many fans would not have liked at first, but might have grown on them if executed properly." Which is a charitable way of saying that they wouldn't have ever liked it.
“they wouldn’t have never liked it” as in, it never would’ve been doomed to the status of the trilogy we got? Or “they wouldn’t have never liked it” as in you mistyped
I think, the entire explanation of the force and the whills would have been a circumstance of some sort of journey that luke would of had to go on to further enhance himself to be prepared to take on maul. And this would have been S+ tier to sit through.
It’s a tragedy for true fans that Star Wars has gone the way chosen by lesser creators! RIP 🪦 !!! it was an amazing ride through 6 movies books and comics we call legends! Thank you, Grandmaster George Lucas at 49 years old I can say your storytelling was one of the best joys of my life!
I think it would have been better for this alternate trilogy to be made. Or at least show us everything that happened after the Empire was beaten instead of having a new Order that showed up out of ass nowhere and conquered most of the galaxy.
Though I think at a glance I would have found the concept of the wills annoying, Lucas wouldn't have assassinated Luke's character. So yes, I would have vastly preferred Lucas's third trilogy. Though Han shot first.
Presentation by the channel was done very well, but considering Lucas needed to always be reeled in by other writers in the previous movies. While it would've been better than what Disney gave us, I don't have much confidence it would've been much better.
First off, more videos like this, please! Further more, I would always prefer a creator's intention over anything else. Last but not least, George Lucas is a genius. You should always listen to what he has to say.
I think Lucasfilm should canonize a Star Wars Multiverse that brings the Legends continuity into canon as a separate timeline. Then, George or an author working with him could publish a book series the canonizes his sequel trilogy as a third timeline. This would also allow the various stories from Vision to be canonical in their own timelines, along with some of the non-canon stories from the old expanded universe. I know some people would push back at the idea of establishing a Star Wars multiverse in light of the current state of Marvel movies, but I think it would benefit the Star Wars IP as a whole to make it a multiverse.
The fact that every generation has its own chosen one is Intriguing Maul the Godfather of Crime and Sith is something I DEAMND The whole Force explaning thing is something I'd have to see put on screen before judging it I like the more subtle role the main trio had in the sequel trilogy I'm all for new character in stories that I love... DONE PROPERLY
I’m honestly kind of glad we didn’t get this for a number of reasons one is that I don’t feel like Maul should have been the big bad because he better as an Obi-Wan villain, and not a overarching villain in my opinion. He also makes more sense as a nobody who gets some power, and not some sort of overarching planner like a Sidious. I’m also perfectly fine with not going deeper down the rabbit hole of the scientific side of the force. I don’t particularly care for the midichlorians and think that making the whills a microcellular organism is making the concept over complex. Do I particularly like what Disney is done with the sequels? No. With that said, I’ve also never really liked what I’ve heard of George’s concept for the sequels. Now that being said, as with all of his work, it would’ve gone through multiple iterations, and might’ve actually become something more interesting draft of Revenge of the Sith Palpatine was going to reveal that he was actually Anakin‘s father, which I am glad God left on the cutting floor. As much as I love Jorge and what he has done I find that he has a bad habit of overexplaining things that really don’t need explaining. I find this ironic as he is the man who is famous for “show not tell”.
I'd love to see a full CGI Lucas movie about the Whills, that fully syncs up with the run time of one of his existing Star Wars movies. Fully it's own Whills universe, and not infringing on copyright, but when secretly designed to be viewed simultaneously with the original film. To give the viewer context for how the Whills influenced the characters and the Force in his mind
Personally, I think the "best" sequels were the EU novels and comics. But as far as movies go, I feel like Lucas would have given us a sequel trilogy that would have aged better and would have been better told than Disney did.
I prefer the continuity of the expanded universe, it seems that the people who were behind the EU understood more about Star Wars than George himself, just look at the old republic for example.
I actually like the idea of the "Chosen One" being a mantle that is passed down, or even a simple misinterpretation of an ancient prophecy. For all we know, the old Jedi had a vision of someone vanquishing a Sith emperor and preemptively named the victor as the Chosen One, whoever it may be- never mind the fact that such an event would almost inevitably happen at some point in the galaxy's history. As Master Yoda said, "always in motion, the future is." Prophecies are only as good as the prophets who make them and the people who believe in them.
Knowing how the original ending for I Am Legend tested, I'm pretty sure this trilogy would've been underappreciated had it released. That being said I like the premise of a reincarnating Chosen One, like Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion. That would also justify the cult theory that Darth Vitiate was a Dark Side Chosen One. And most importantly, we FINALLY would have understood what the Whills are.
George had also mentioned Maul and Talon in the cancelled Maul videogame, elaborating on the fact that Maul, in the sequel era timeline, would be have to be a clone... His original self could still be done in by Kenobi, but his clone would wreck havoc and take up where Maul left off. For Leia, I think the idea of her being the chosen one isn't the same as Anakin... I think its more literal in the physical realm with her being the leader of the freed galaxy (Chancellor). Also seeing the aspects of the force/midichlorians and bringing the true meaning of it all together in both the physical and spiritual realm would've been perfect. Shame... To me, a version of this can still be told... The pieces are there.
This is an incredible video. There's so many other videos that discuss George's sequels that merge this original concept with the treatment he wrote for Disney. But I'm glad we're starting to understand they were very separate concepts, divided by many years The treatment he wrote for Disney is remarkably similar to the films we got, at least 7 and 8
About the same as the sequels. I don't like the idea of Maul being the big bad. After what happened with Palpatine, I doubt that that he would be rushing out to imitate him. Talon would make a good apprentice, but for another series.
When you look at star wars on a grand scale, Darth Maul being in charge of the syndicates is like when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi created isis out of the reminats of the taliban and alqueda after Osama Bin Laden. While its evil, its a different type of evil, almost dogmatic.
This whole summary feels like an epilogue rather than a sequel. ROTJ was the definitive ending so he trying to find anyway to continue the story. Maul who’s weaker than Palpatine being the main villain is silly.
(52 year old weeps bitterly at the sequels that never were ....) One thing that always bothered me though. In the Clone Wars. on the Force planet, Yoda is told there is another Skywalker. If not Anakin .. then .. who? I hope George buys Lucasfilm back at basement prices and does his trilogy. I remember reading in Bantha Tracks as a child in the 70s where George was talking about 9 parts. Always. He knew the first was about Anakin. He knew the second was about Luke .. and that the third was about Leia. Nine films .. although Mara Jade would be a better choice. Three generations. Leia got done with Luke already. Perhaps giving Mara Jade a bit of a dance with the dark side somehow? The Acolyte found Filoni out. He is not the one to follow George as the Gatekeeper.
I believe that George Lucas's Star Wars sequel trilogy ideas are great. I like the idea that George Lucas wanted to have Leia as the new Supreme Chancellor of the Republic and have Darth Maul come back as the main villain of the Star Wars sequel trilogy along with an apprentice named Darth Talon. I also liked the idea that Luke Skywalker would rebuild the Jedi Order and find a new generation of Jedi to train. I really like those ideas that George Lucas had for his own sequel trilogy.
I'm tired of Skywalker era. Boring . Id have liked to see the Start of the Mandalorian wars in the Old Republic. With Revan and Malak Starting out as Jedi then eventually they become the sith after the shadow generator incident. This to me would top any of the star wars movies that have been made. but glad Disney didn't touch them
Thanks very much for posting this...but I decided to close it off after three minutes. If any graphic-novel publishing houses are presently vying for the rights to Master Lucas's sequel version (a near-certainty, to my way of thinking) - and if they work closely with him and constantly - I think I'll wait to purchase the end product to find out the vision in his mind's eye. 😎
In the end, the fans would have hated new content no matter what it was. It's as if the very real world things that inspired the writing have reached out and strangled any further storytelling in it's cradle.
As a fan of Parasite Eve, I would have ABSOLUTELY LOVED the midichlorian/whill angle. PE is quite similar in that mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell, on which midichlorians are based) are sentient. And certain characters end up empowered by more evolved forms, resulting in a clash of opposing sides. The main antagonist is possessed by Eve, the collective name of the rogue mitochondria inhabiting her body. They take over her and eschew the millions of years of symbiosis with multicellular organisms, using them for their own interests instead: they become parasites (dark side/imbalance). The protagonist, on the other hand, learns to work in cooperation with her own mitochondria, retaining that symbiosis (light side/balance). IMO it ties into Lucas' interpretation of balance not being "equal dark/light ratio", but rather a biological balance where everything is in harmony and the body is healthy. This is what he meant by the Chosen One bringing balance: making the Force healthy by eliminating the cancer/parasitic influence of the dark side.
I would have loved every bit of this sequel trilogy. What a beautiful story. Thanks man, this is my favorite vid of yours.

Disney did Star Wars dirty with the sequel trilogy! Facts!

This would have failed terribly. They would have torn this apart worse then the prequels

Hopefully George can flesh out his ideas and they can let him release some books some day
Thanks for the video Stupendous!
There would’ve been at least 50 other Jedi survivors George Lucas planned for them to be more survivors to help rebuild the order
It’s great to remember what should’ve been
I think if Lucas had played this out as 1.) a Luke voice-over reading the opening scroll as a Star Wars universe-compatible version of Lucas’s own words about the relationship between the Whills and the midi-chlorians (read in this video) and perhaps mirrored at some point in the first or second movie as a sort of observed understanding that Luke develops, and 2.) the process of understanding the mystery of the midi-chlorians and the subsequent discovery, knowledge, and understanding of the Whills being part of Luke’s journey as he rebuilds the Jedi Academy (while also at the same time perhaps learning about the looming threat of a resurgent Maul and his new apprentice Talon and informing the New Republic), this would have turned out as an incredibly acceptable plot line for a Lucas sequel trilogy.
For all who read this and are writers, never sell your story.
George Lucas is Star Wars. I would take his story over all else. His sequel trilogy sounds incredible!
This would have been glorious

I think that people watching would want to see a sith as a antagonist. After all Star Wars as seen by the general media is a fight between the Jedi and sith
Darth Maul being in it would have been terrible I'm sorry but Maul was always meant to die by Kenobis hand on Tatooine...
Amazing video
One thing you have to keep in mind with Star Wars - although they are very popular films, they are more arthouse films than „blockbusters“ in spirit. They are a lot about the ideas and philosophy. And bar a repetition of the themes of the original trilogy and some confused stuff about legacy the sequels have none. That’s why they are comparatively forgettable. And it’s also a larger problem with a lot of Star Wars now. These films if anything would have been interesting and probably a true expansion of what had come before, not a simple repeat.
This topic is such a cozy “what if”
I really hope we get to see these ideas explored in some way eventually
I hope that this story WILL come to light. I really wanted GL to finish his trilogy of trilogies.
The Lucas ST would of been based! It really should of been seen on the big screen. Would of loved to see the Skywalker and Solo children journey.
indeed. i went to a force awakens to see the solo kids and such.... mara jade etc. but i got none of that instead i got a mary sue who can do everything and a boring movie
@sheilaolfieway1885 The whole ST was anti-OT/PT. It was terrible. I don’t blame the actors, though. I blame poor planning/writing and execution. Disney didn't embrace Star Wars lore - they tried to erase it.
@PhoenixLord777 It's not. If you read any EU, you'll know it'd not "woke".
Good Point!

George Lucas would have made an incredible trilogy (I enjoyed both his trilogies the original and the prequels)
"this is something that many fans would not have liked at first, but might have grown on them if executed properly."
Which is a charitable way of saying that they wouldn't have ever liked it.
“they wouldn’t have never liked it” as in, it never would’ve been doomed to the status of the trilogy we got?
Or “they wouldn’t have never liked it” as in you mistyped
I'm not a big fan of the Whills, but the rest sounds like a good story, so I probably would've let it slide.
It would have made a great franchise for decades to come that couldn't be messed with. But no we got screwed
Honestly at this point I’ve taken this over anything those fools at Disney would have come up with!
Sounds like we truly missed out.
I think, the entire explanation of the force and the whills would have been a circumstance of some sort of journey that luke would of had to go on to further enhance himself to be prepared to take on maul. And this would have been S+ tier to sit through.
Sounds way better than current sequels
This would be a hell of a ride. He truly thought it all out and would be so amazing to see all of that.
this honestly sounds like a better version than cannon for sure! and i think legend fans would be happier about that than what they ended up getting.
Doubt fans would be happy with this verion of the sequels, I think I'd like it, but it sounds better than what we got with disney.
I woulda loved for George Lucas to of made the ST. It would have been so much better than what we got.
For Lucas, to of made it?

The fact that every generation has its own chosen one is Intriguing

DONE PROPERLY
This sounds like an awesome adventure, but honestly 'Star Wars : The Musical' would have been better than the three trash cans we were given.
I like this little delve into the mind of Lucas. He really gives us some stuff to think about.
I love the prequels. And I would also have loved to seen these sequels.
I don’t see why this can’t still be done. They might have to use a lot of deep fakes but I think it can be done.
Thank you for this video! Hopefully we could see this in an animated series in the future, produced by Lucas himself..
Seems this would imply even greater implications for Darth Plageus' near success than even he or Sidious knew.
But I'm glad we're starting to understand they were very separate concepts, divided by many years
The treatment he wrote for Disney is remarkably similar to the films we got, at least 7 and 8
I think the majority of the fan base wishes lucas was still in charge
(52 year old weeps bitterly at the sequels that never were ....)
One thing that always bothered me though.
Wild that y'all wouldn't put up with a 30 year development plot from the creator... But you MUST tolerate Disney says it all lol
I would not want the force explained through science. The tiny bit explained in episode 1 was too much.
Unless Disney retcons their trilogy and makes Lucas’ trilogy as HE intended, nothing they do will bring me back.
It would have been legendary! This story line is giving me goosebumps!
This to me would top any of the star wars movies that have been made. but glad Disney didn't touch them
This sounds really good, but I think the sequel trilogy needed a bigger threat than Darth Maul and gangsters.
Maybe someday we can make an animated series out of it
Thanks very much for posting this...but I decided to close it off after three minutes.
