    “It doesn’t affect the battery health” is incorrect. The correct answer is “BETAs CAN affect battery health.” The keyword is CAN, not WILL. If in your specific case the beta draws power extremely quickly and causes the battery percentage to drop way faster than normal, the excessive power draw and potential heat generated combined can reduce the battery life after even just a dozen or so charge cycles.
    I tested this by using Minecraft at the highest tolerable settings exclusively on a brand new iPhone X almost daily for 1 hour for a year. It caused the battery percentage to drop very quickly and made the phone quite warm. After 1 year the battery health had dropped to 79%. My other iphone was reserved for non-cpu intensive apps like messages, safari, and other native apps, and even after 5-7 hours use per day, the battery health was at 97% after 2 years.
    I was prompted to do this test when my iPad Pro 12.9 gen 1 battery life suddenly went from around 6 hours a day to 2 hours a day after letting my kids play minecraft on it almost daily for just under a year. iPads dont display battery health, so that’s when I decided to run the test with the iPhone.
    TDLR: Battery health is affected by frequent use of excessively cpu intensive apps that cause the battery percentage to drop very quickly and heat up above normal. (This can include betas IF the beta in your case is causing your phone’s battery percentage to drop abnormally fast and heat up the phone quite a bit.)

    • @WhittyPics
      @WhittyPics 2 года назад

      The beta itself doesn't effect battery health. Where you lost health is if it is using more power and draining the battery down faster and causing more cycles.

    I very rarely leave it plugged in overnight and I never use wireless charging (I don't own a wireless charger). I plug it in when I need to, usually by the end of the day and disconnect it when I go to sleep. 80% on an iPhone 13 Pro gets me through the whole day easily, so I usually disconnect at that percentage.
    I don't stress about my battery health, but I got used to plugging it in at around 20-30% and disconecting at 75-85%, which I believe is best for the health of the battery.
    My iPhone XS was at 84% battery health after 3 years of use and charging it as described above, but now my 13 Pro that I got on release day is at 100% still.
    I have noticed that the worst thing for your battery is extreme cold or hot weather, so I avoid leaving my phone out in the sun in the middle of the summer for longer periods of time. Same goes for when temperature is below freezing - I wouldn't leave it outside on a table exposed to the cold.

    My 3 years iphone 11 Pro Max. Main phone..use it every day. Battery health is 92%. I only use an old ipad or 5 w charger. Never use fast chargers. Charge when it gets to 40% then remove around 80 or 90%. I never charge over night and hardly every charge to 100% or deplete below 30%.

    Installing an update or new beta is like a doctor visit when you are a kid. You get your height measured, weight measured. It is updating your measurements as it does the battery health. Doesn’t degrade it, you don’t gain/lose weight when you go, it has changed between those visits

    • @maaax1173

      Not really though, the health will update without doing an update. Maybe it‘s just that the approximation of battery health sometimes changes between updates. Like going to different doctors every few weeks

    Good morning from Montana….I appreciate your update on charging of iPhone…I charge my iPhone 13 mini as you do with no issues. I’m the dude that had the 5s for 7 years and upgraded to the 6s for a few years afterwards and now the 13 mini. Still using lightening connection with apple’s 5w charging brick at night and a 20w brick from Anker with wireless charging for those rare times I need to top off. For me, I charge the mini 13 at night when I go to bed and forget about it….I have no issues with the phone getting hot or over heating. The only issue I had with charging was the first week I received the phone from T-Mobile…. Was getting a pop up message that the phone was not charging, due to moisture…which was weird, since it was never exposed to any kind of water/moisture environment… so I wireless charged it for about month at night….but now have gone to using my lightening connector again …because of the stand I made to hold phone up right. All is good….again, thank you for taking the time to produce these videos….have a great day from Montana.

    I have made a shortcut to stop charging at 90%. This is due to experience with my privious iPhone 12mini, which degraded 8% in just 6 month, and didn't want that to happen again. I now have an iPhone 13mini, and my battery is still 100%, so hopefully it helps. I also only charge it wirelessly using magsafe or magsafe battery pack.

    • @snowatom
      @snowatom 2 года назад

      Well it's not as special as it sounds. I just made a shortcut to switch of power to the charger, when phone gets above 90%. Furthermore, It's a feature on the magsafe battery without a shortcut. So when not at home I charge using that.

    I’m a battery hobbyist. My XR is 96% health after 2.5yrs of averaging 7+hrs SOT/day on ~50% batt, using an automate custom optimization. Ran my previous iPhone5/iPad2 duo for ~7yrs with good (albeit manual) battery management too. The thing is, with most iPhones spec’ing 15+hrs SOT, and iOS13+ shortcut automations (+$10 smartplug), a custom optimization is almost as easy/cheap as flipping the ‘optimization’ switch - a fraction the time, cost, effort of a battery swap.

Any explanation other than the battery health is software manipulated and it is not real ?

    Just charged it overnight in the end, as I couldn’t charge my phone at work that easily. However after using the 8 plus for 4 years as my main phone “I only use one at at time anyway”, it is at 82%. So according to what I hear and read about it, it’s about as good as it can get.
    So I kinda have the feeling you shouldn’t worry about it to much.

    My experience is that the iPhone 12 ProMax has reduced the battery faster than most any other phone I've had, & I've upgraded yearly until this year. I'm at 91% & I got this 12ProMax when they came out. My wife has my old 11 ProMax, & after 2 years, it is at 94%. It's truly mind boggling. But I do think we use more videos, more notifications, fast charging, and it all takes its toll. Aaron is correct, just use it the way you need to, and deal with the battery if necessary. Probably the biggest advice is not to aggressively use it while charging it.
    If you need to check a text, read and article or something on a small scale then that should be just fine.
    But to give you an example one time I used one of my devices while it was charging and I played real racing 3 for a decent amount of time and I destroyed the battery life. It was never the same after that.
    Some batteries may be more resilient but all-in-all I wouldn’t recommend aggressively using your phone while it’s charging.

    I had a strange experience with MagSafe and my battery. I got my 12 Pro and didn’t use MagSafe for a long time, and the health went down to maybe 94% after almost a year. Pretty normal.
    Started using MagSafe and over the course of about 2 months, my battery went from 94 to 87%. Every few days I would check and the percentage would drop 1% which was clearly abnormal. I don’t want to blame MagSafe for this sudden drop, but it’s really the only culprit I can think of.
    Took it to Apple and they were of course nice and understanding, but also didn’t have any answers for me so I just paid $70 for a new battery. So far I’ve been using MagSafe after the replacement and after a week I’m still at 100% which I expected. Curious if anybody else has noticed something like this.

    One tip I found that seems to have improved my battery health on my 12 pro max was suggested by an apple authorized repair shop. The trick is to turn off “raise to wake”. The phone was always turning on in my pocket and I could feel it getting warm and acting like I was touching the screen as I moved I guess. Turning this off stopped what seemed like a fairly rapid decline in battery health…

    I’m sorry but I did exactly what u did since I got my iPhone and each time it hit 100% a percentage dropped from my battery health. I followed the other method by not letting it reach 100% and it’s keeping my percentage fairly stable

    Hi..
    My iPhone XR callers can't get me clearly except on speakerphone. Is it a software problem or hardware problem?

    Since My Xs max entered Service Mode(battery health 79%) ,it started to increase its background refresh time and now I don't get my notifications/alerts at time. All notifications from apps such as Snapchat, messenger, hangouts are displayed 4-8 minutes late.
    I've tried reseting and restoring many many times to no solutions.

      @@cosmic__s Obviously I use it, but I don't play it too much, I load it twice a day, but I never load it 100% and I don't let it fall below 30% ... !!!

    After about 1 1/2 years of having the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I’m currently at 93% battery health capacity. I tend to use the phone on an average of 6-7 hours a day. I rarely use power mode, and I rarely let it get down to 25% of battery. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      I don’t like letting my phone go down below 20% anymore. When I first got this iPhone 12 I would let it go down to 10% or below almost every day, but ever since I stopped doing that I found my battery is not degrading nearly as quickly.
