@mob million @BeatTheBush I enjoy shopping and looking at merchandise! It's not fun for everyone but I find it relaxing and fun. Often, it's with (female) relatives or friends. I might not buy anything, but we're out of the house, walking around, talking and catching up, and looking at things and maybe buying something. Anyway, thats what I meant by my comment. I've gotten enjoyment out of something without spending more than necessary, so thats why I feel like I've won in that scenario. I'm going there with the purpose of just hanging out, not really with the purpose of buying something but then the temptation is always there. So when I don't buy something, it's like I've beaten all those temptations and still had a good time.
I like the background uplighting. May I suggest turning on the hallway light as well? The aim being to minimize dark spots which can lend a depressing vibe to a frame.
BeatTheBush ...That's kinda your job....To scrutinize all of our consumer patterns and then to give us feedback on it....So, for research purposes, you have to go into the stores...😀😀
Agree with you on the coffee - I grind 16 grams of coffee every morning by hand. It makes the most delicious coffee in a little stove top espresso moka pot. This was an excellent video BTB. No wasted money in 2019 - that's my goal!
I'm like you BTB. . . never had a problem with shopping, and never felt tempted to buy things just to buy. Sometimes I like to look around and get ideas, but if anything, I have to encourage myself to buy things because I don't want clutter, and I have about 98% of what I need and want. I'm always looking to improve my home, and upgrade certain things for comfort and style, but I go slowly, and don't buy on a whim. I just renovated my family room with new flooring, furniture and window treatments. Did a lot of the work with hubby, and saved a ton of money. But we did need to hire an electrician and a floor installer. The results make me happy every time I see and use the room which is often! Perhaps people are just wired differently, or maybe it's upbringing. But this attitude has always kept me debt free and living within my means, yet I feel like I have a very comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle. Money spent on my home is the one area I have never resisted spending on, and it's always paid off. I don't need or want a bunch of things just to have them.
Getting ideas is great. That is what I do too. You see new products and inventions. Interesting point with upgrading your home. You do live and use it every single day so you spend more time with it. High five on the debt free!
@@BeatTheBush Yes, I love coming home and enjoying my home. From a nice kitchen to cook in and a nice family room to relax in. Saves me money by having little desire to go out to eat or drink. I invite friends over and sometimes we cook together or just chill and have a glass of wine. I personally feel enjoying and spending money on your home pays off double time. By enjoying it, and in the increase in value when you sell it.

Since I live in Thailand it is quite hot. I therefore spend a good amount of time in shopping malls just to cool down and exercise by walking. While I'm there I 'window shop' but I will never buy anything unless I was already considering the purchase for a few days and that particular item is either hard to find or priced competitively. I view shopping as a tax on my savings. I don't need much and most things are simply exchanging useless junk for my hard earned cash which buys me freedom which I value much more. Another thing I do worldwide is go to Supermarkets around 7 PM or later. Almost always deli food is marked down, sometimes half price. It might not be fresh from the oven but it's usually still quite good.
Make a list and stick to it. Buy what you need and avoid stores that trigger you to spend money on things that you don't need. Hope this helps someone!!
It’s not as difficult in stores because I don’t go out to stores much , but thrift shops, grocery stores and even online shopping can have you buying things you don’t really need....
Very very good! Thank u. When I think of the time I have to spend taking care of all dust catchers - I get so frustrated. Definitely prefer not to have it in the first place, rather go for a walk or read good book, or watch wise videos lol
My best tip for not buying anything is to think that you are getting ripped off by the store or by the salesman. Being not able to trust anyone , helps too! Haha
My downfall's are convenience stores and dollar stores like Dollar Tree. It's so easy to blow a small fortune especially at a dollar store. So I no longer go inside convenience stores. As for Dollar Stores, I make a list of what I need and limit the amount of money I bring with me. I bring enough to cover my purchases and then a little extra in case I see something that I do need and maybe forgot to add to my list.
I've learned a lot from video games and found great friends through it. Mainstream games that are just mash A to win won't stimulate the brain with anything meaningful, but strategy games or grand scale multiplayer games where you have to work as a group to achieve a goal will. Hell, I credit World of Warcraft for perking my interest with finance. Long story short, half way agree on that point, pretty much 100% agree on your other thoughts in the video. Don't need to buy more of what you already have! Always enjoy listening to your perspective on things, though! :)
If it ain't on the "LIST" - it doesn't get bought, at least not on that particular trip. It may get on the "LIST" for the next trip, after I think about & research it for a while? Exceptions to that rule might be a sale item that I run across and I am gonna need or need to stock up on, or maybe something I have to repair and forgot to put the parts on the list? We shop every 2 weeks, mostly for groceries, sometimes repair parts, hardware or lumber. Make a BIG circle and hit 5 to 7 stores and the bank/post office/UPS, Costco, wholesale restaurant supply, Trader Joe's, Farmers Market, 2 Asian Markets, Feed store (for animal feed). Generally takes about 3 hours because we only go every 2 weeks... Depending on the season, may include some other stores? Early springtime mostly, when we get the gardens up and running. On days with extra time I might browse the library book store for 2nd hand books - find something I have to have about 20% of the time, but I love books and the feeling I get just walking through the shelves! Only ever went there to deliver custom work and repairs anyway...
The sporting goods is an interesting one. I have a pair of ice skates that I've worn only a few times and have wanted to sell them FOREVER..but I haven't sold it, because I know that in the future, I WILL go ice skating at least 3 more times in my life, and the cost of skates rental would've offset the cost of the skates. The downside? I need to still stare at these skates every time I clean. 😂
Cleared out 6 cabinets in kitchen & saw my waste total over $200! Sucks! As much as I hated acknowledging it, I am more aware than ever I could have invested funds instead. Sometimes your content hits too close to home! BUT thank u
It's not a waste if it helps you realize a new start. Something about completely using something up or using something that lasts forever that feels great. When you do so, it's interesting that people really do not need to spend much.
What are your thoughts about sleeping on a bed? As a minimalist, I was decluttering my room and threw out my bed as well. Been sleeping on the floors since for years and I actually feel better (no more back pain) and sleep more soundly. Not to mention I have way more room in my room now.
I think this really depends on your sleep style and back. The floor sometimes transmits damp cold air to your body and can cause aches the next day for some people. I think perhaps it doesn't need to be 15" thick to be suitable for sleeping. Maybe even 3" thick thing can be adequate.
I SO agree with all you say. I just got rid of like 6 vases in my apt. I never have enough flowers to put in them Plus...I was constantly cleaning them. Duh

I admire your lifestyle. You are smart to give the illusion of being broke .It keeps people from trying to borrow money from you or sell you crap you have no interest in purchasing.
Will you make some videos on passive income that an average person can do? (NOT like writing a book, creating an app, renting out part of my home, buying a business, etc.) Also, I'd be curious on your thoughts about peer-to-peer lending. Thanks!
I play video games about 3hours + when i have a day off, usually a social thing to do with my friends. But i do personal believe 2 hours or less is enough
Costco? Photos, Pizza and unhealthy hot dogs in Front, a fitness section, furniture section, and vegetables in bulk. Electronics section with gimbal cameras, and an Automotive section. Big Box retailer store. Good deal in terms of food is Costco samples. Get a meal walk out with nothing.
Can you do a video on Medishare? My family of three has to pay $900 a month for insurance. Or $350 a month for Medishare oh, my agent says. I am self-employed, FI. If you spend 1-2 hour in shopping, but don't buy anything, would that consider a pure waste of 1-2 hours of your time for nothing? You can just leave your money at home or in your car, so you won't spend a any money in a store. Or control yourself, don't even go to you store.

I live a whole different life than you. First off- I live in a low cost of living state/area. So I can own - as in a large old house. So space is not a problem. I can fill it up...explore hobbies. Home projects are my hobby. But lets consider bang for the buck. I dont like to do laundry... so I bought alot of clothes. Clothes are relatively cheap... so I bought enough I can easily go a month and not have to do laundry. When making a purchase.. say $10, I ask is this going to give me $10 worth of pleasure? Per this video- it is soon time for me to get some new socks and underwear. When it wears out is drags me down.. and there is a good feeling to have fresh at all times.
I understand your views. It sounds really good if am trying to build up a career and wealth while being single. But I find it difficult to apply some of the points that you said while being in a relationship. The house of a single man and the house of a couple is way different :P Well, that's my point of view on the matter :)
I think this depends on your partner. I get comments from women saying they are the frugal ones in the relationships although I think this might be a bit rare.

Regarding cleaning supplies.... Pardon my ignorance here but does this include things like soap for the shower/hands, dishwasher detergent, and kitchen soap for dishes, toothpaste as well? If you alternatives for some or all of these things I'd be interested in hearing more about it.
Roger Babin look at his hair. He uses baking soda to shower, brush teeth, and wash his clothes. He only showers once a week to save on water. The clothes is ill fitted and reuses the same underwear over and over again.
I usually buy them in bulk for dishes and one huge bottle lasted over a year so far. I don't use the dishwasher normally. No, I don't use baking soda to shower. I shower daily.
the only time i go into a store is to buy something I need. I very rarely buy anything else and then only if I see a really good sale. From the women I know, I expect most women would start this video by saying that they NEVER go into a store without buying something, even if they do not need it. :)
The reason why I like it is because it preserves the oils (and taste, and caffeine) that paper filters remove. And I don't need to buy filters for it. Tastes very similar to the french press, which kind of makes sense. Anyway, you seem to know what you like very well. Enjoying your channel, good day bro.

I'm a girl but I stopped buying jewelry because I hate wearing it (though it looks pretty, I hate the feel). After watching through, clearly the strategy is to be very aware of what you already have.
I was wondering if you'd do a video on what you like and don't like about the zero waste movement? Or just share your general thoughts. It's something I've been thinking a lot about but you seem to have adopted it naturally.
I haven't. I just haven't posted too much on there. I do respond to comments posted on there. Zero waste? Of course I am not there yet myself but I have gotten so close, I hardly even need my trash can anymore. Zero waste video, noted.

I think the key is to only buy what you need and to go into the store with a shopping list.
When I shop like this, I refer to it as shopping like a man. A list, a budget and a time limit will help one shop in a sane manner.

Thanks!
I relate myself with your video, I am in this state about getting rid of stuffs 👍
I play video games about 3hours + when i have a day off, usually a social thing to do with my friends. But i do personal believe 2 hours or less is enough
I think if it is social.. .well... you can also socialize too much no?
BeatTheBush Didn’t think of it like that I guess I don’t social all that much recently
Hit his teethmm.fall off ---hahaha he is naturally funny
Lol... it has happened before.
Valuable video. Many thanks.
don't consume too much, save environment (production and transportation costs ) :3
I walked through an Ikea yesterday and came out empty-handed , pats self on back
You didn’t get the $2.50 meatball meal?
Great information! Thanks!
Ahhh.. it works for many big stores.
Can you do a video on Medishare? My family of three has to pay $900 a month for insurance. Or $350 a month for Medishare oh, my agent says. I am self-employed, FI. Medishare has a lower premium and lower out-of-pocket Max. But you pay for appointments as you go. We are healthy vegans and get a discount. I just want to make sure it's safe? For example, if one of us ends up in surgery that cost $100,000 at the hospital, I want to make sure Medishare will pay the entire amount. It's an alternative to insurance. It's been around a while. It's a PPO. Just want to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
Great video. I try to buy any true necessities online and have them delivered if I can. It helps to avoid the store altogether.
Make It Enough don’t you pay for shipping
@@chocolatewheelchair Never. I refuse to pay for shipping. I only order if it meets the minimum required amount for free shipping. Otherwise, I will order and choose store pickup.
That is a good way to avoid seeing the store. I guess rather than avoid, I bask in it. Like training yourself.
I work in Michigan and the south which sometimes I go shopping and I get what I want and put it in the cart and when it’s time to pay, I ask myself , do I need this? Then, I walk away from cart. I think it’s therapy, I saw it had it and walked away. That is my trick. Downey California Latino Asian
Interesting. Now some poor worker has to go put it all away.
Your videos are just so helpful, thank you.
Please share your books with us.
I have a playlist of books I've reviewed here: ruclips.net/p/PLAffnc1joZvZkQfsQfAgGuf56KG9LwBbk
If you spend 1-2 hour in shopping, but don't buy anything, would that consider a pure waste of 1-2 hours of your time for nothing? You can just leave your money at home or in your car, so you won't spend a any money in a store. Or control yourself, don't even go to you store.
Why do you go to a store if you don't plan on buying anything?
To survey the market and possibly by some groceries.
Sometimes you gotta test your resolve.... lolol
Hi Francis, What will be your financial goals for 2019, as well as reducing cost as increasing your income? Maybe worth a video by the end of this year?
Goals? I like to keep those to myself because I like to keep my advantage of surprise.
Sporting goods, toys and games are great things to buy used
Yeah. If you can stand it being used.
The honey badger is going to try to get that slice of meat 🥩 but T-Rex 🦖 is going to fight for it, and for the peas is better to hide themselves, it can be dangerous man. 👍great video again 🙏
Is using a microwave not more expensive than a waterboiler, in terms of electricity?
Depends. Depends on the efficiency of each and if you keep hot water in the boiler all day long. That will constantly lose heat if so.
Bought a fantastic car battery at Walmart.. Much longer life.. a fresher battery than car battery purchased at auto store franchise..
Yes, sometimes they sell things cheaper than smaller auto stores.
I invited my girlfriend to watch this video with me and she paused it in the middle, saying "Don't be brain-washed by this guy!"
The worst time to go out shopping grocery is when you are hungry. Eat first before shopping.
Agreed
I understand your views. It sounds really good if am trying to build up a career and wealth while being single. But I find it difficult to apply some of the points that you said while being in a relationship. The house of a single man and the house of a couple is way different :P Well, that's my point of view on the matter :)
I think this depends on your partner. I get comments from women saying they are the frugal ones in the relationships although I think this might be a bit rare.
When I first saw this I thought he was going to teach us stealing now. Lol I remember him way back then..he was always kinda random lol then he went in finance niche
I hear Robinhood app is offering 3% interest rate for savings and checking accounts. Could you do a review of this Beat the bush? Thanks.
that is great- if no catch
BeatTheMeat you know that’s a lie.
I have never been the type to buy random things when I go to the store lol, I'm an expert at being frugal I guess.
This is a good video idea
=D
the only time i go into a store is to buy something I need. I very rarely buy anything else and then only if I see a really good sale. From the women I know, I expect most women would start this video by saying that they NEVER go into a store without buying something, even if they do not need it. :)
Sometimes when you see something at a good deal, it's hard to resist. I am not immune hopefully, the reasoning will make it seem not such a good deal.
Coffee: try the vietnamese thing. I bought it in saigon for about a dollar. Maybe somwone will ship you one 😆
The vietnamese coffee thing? I avoid that since there is no filter. Just tiny holes.
The reason why I like it is because it preserves the oils (and taste, and caffeine) that paper filters remove. And I don't need to buy filters for it. Tastes very similar to the french press, which kind of makes sense. Anyway, you seem to know what you like very well. Enjoying your channel, good day bro.
Does this video help ?? Yes, because it helps you to stop and think before making a purchase. These types of video's are sorely needed.
Hopefully. Or I have my latest t-shirt that says 'Don't Buy It' LOL. it literally stopped this one guy from buying cheetoes as I walked into the gas station store.
My wife keeps accidentally throwing away forks because she leaves them in take out containers and forgets.
Leave your purse in your car and bring like 20 bucks (or whatever amount) only.
Start: 2:44
OMG I do the same thing. I go into stores with my friends and I buy nothing. My friends can't stand this and tease me.
They expect you to buy something? So strange they want you to buy something.
Yes they are mad that I don't spend money like they do.@@BeatTheBush
They are jealous and clueless of where you are coming from. Most likely you have savings and they have debt. @@jeremylodge3911
It is true I have considerable savings from any work I do and from parental allowance. My friends have no debt as we are teenagers but if they keep up this behavior in the future they will surely be in debt.@@patriciafisher3108
Careful with the not enough underwear and socks. It can make you run the washing machine more than necessary.
Lol... sock... I must have 100 pairs still. Lol.
Wash by hand .
Realistically funny 😂
How will you convince women not to buy jewelry?
Ahhh, I will do no such thing. That's just what I do.
I'm a woman & I haven't bought any in years. I have enough. I have different hobbies than shopping
How do you wash your clothes?
Did you get the dinosaur on amazon ?? Did they stop selling it :(
The dino is very old. Even the company that made is no longer exist.
Christmas is the worst season. Gotta spend money on presents :(
Very very true! =D Ahhh Christmas, a consumerism holiday.
@Oskar Holmberg I do if I want to keep good relationships with people important to me. Its not like I buy a whole bunch, only for a few people and I always try to make it practical in some way.
Let me guess, sounds like Target?
Kim A i was gonna guess Costco
Ha ha ha! I suppose I should say even in the comments.
that's what I thought - Target----but my SAMS club has a photo place immediately when you walk in
You forgot to mention all the casualty costs!
Like gasoline I used going to the store?
I don't get it when people buy useless trinkets.
Do u eat when u go to restaurant
I don't think so. He just walks around it
@@adamlam2990 While taking notes! For a future video, of course. 😆 Love him.
I do. I have a vlog coming where I eat at 4-5 places a day. Vacation mode though.
@@BeatTheBush this guy dont eat all this year, only to go in a vacation...wtf
Days of the '30's depression. Give me a cup of water, bottle of ketchup, and a toothpick (to stir water & ketchup.) Nutritious cold tomato soup. No cost.
I'm a girl but I stopped buying jewelry because I hate wearing it (though it looks pretty, I hate the feel).
After watching through, clearly the strategy is to be very aware of what you already have.
Make use of everything. If you touch every item you have everyday normally, that might be the ultimate of using everything.
yeah its christmas man !! we needs to stimulate the economy
Should the individual be responsible for spending on things they do not need to stimulate the economy?
Have you abandoned your patreon? I just joined but the last post seems to be months ago
“I jump up and down sometimes.” 🕴🏻

One really good thing Costco has is roasted chicken, it’s about five dollars.
Fluffy Bunny can't cook it yourself?
@@TheRealJaded Costco actually loses money with their rotisserie chicken, like millions a year lol
I used to get the chicken every time. Now I see it as filled with dead germs and artery clog.
BeatTheBush, Costco’s roasted chicken isn’t any worse for you than the ones at Safeway, and their chicken is no worse than the whopper you had the other day.
Whopper is worse.
Have you thought of practicing stoicism...You'd be quite a stoic. Do you have a life philosophy?
I found out recently that stoicism might line up a lot with what I already do. It's very interesting.
Great! It could be a great content source for you and it would also expand your audience demography. If you decide to practice it, do keep us up to date. @@BeatTheBush
Wow, are you a golfer!?
Not really, I enjoy the driving range though.
Can't resist Costco lol
Each item averages $10. 10 items is $100. Lol.
Costco is great if you want to buy in bulk or items at wholesale prices.
Sprouts is great for a few quick healthy items. 🍎🍉
