I'm amazed with all the equipment. Looks expensive, and well cared for. My dad grew up on a dairy farm (1930's-49's). When he was older he took care of the birthing & calves. He started washing and keeping things clean. Just doing that he lost the fewest calves. No surprise he became a science teacher. I Enjoy the cows. Thank you 😊

Outside provides more ventilation. Unless the weather is so cold it will freeze the ears straight off the calf like it will where they are it's better for them to be outside in the open air.

Thanks Neline. I really am impressed with all the thought and planning that goes into managing a large calf operation like yours. Calf feeding, movement, contamination, etc. is all well organized. Also, you need to give Neline a raise. She deserves it for putting up with you. FYI - regarding the calf that couldn't stay on the bottle and nipple, hove you thought about calf mental disabilities? Just like in humans, there may be a small proportion of calves that have mental or neural defects. They wouldn't be able to focus or manage muscle coordination like a normal calf. Do you have many of those that you can identify?

I grew up on a NE Wisconsin dairy farm. I had 3 older sisters who were all bigger than me (until I grew 18" in high school). There were many dents in our house walls from little ol' me. I never hit women/girls, so once I got bigger than them, I simply gave them a great big bear hug or I just hugged their heads! I love my sisters.

That wash ball is ok for that milk taxi. But they use a T shape with two balls, one at either end to clean milk tankers (1980/2008). The pressure is that high, they occasionally break off. This means going inside a milk tanker truck to retrieve the broken ball.
Which is usually stuck inside the exit flow line within the tanker trucks tank.
