That "sit on the tire" trick saved my day..seriously.
I heard you say “of course that would happen when I go to film this” a few times but I actually am very appreciative that you decided to leave those parts in here. A lot of times I watch these guides and they go so easy and smooth that it makes me think I missed a step in the process or just haven’t figured it out. That’s actually very helpful for those of us giving this a shot for the first time.
Well said. I like that he included the tough parts of the install, shows that even the "experts" have troubles too. 👍
I didn’t even realise the length of video cause I was so connected to the video till he mentioned it haha
Tip: you struggled to get the last little bit of the bead over the rim right? At the end of spooning on your tire, put one spoon at the struggle point while you work the tire around. This spoon will be in place so you don't need to push the spoon between the tire and rim. It makes for a much easier finish.
These r the kind of tips that make stuff like this great. Awesome idea and will do for sure. Something so simple and great. Like why didnt I think of that. Haha.
stand on it
nice
Dammit wish I’d read that before I just mounted my tire
it was where the rim lock was.
my tip for that situation would be to undo your bead lock some more, and use the tyre spoon to push the bead lock in and the tyre just falls in to the right place.
And not one obscenity spoken! I've never installed a dirt bike tire without excessive amounts of loud swearing. My tubliss and new meats arrived a couple days ago. This video is my inspiration that the process is possible without recurring obscenities. I appreciate your quality advice and real guy presence.
Thank you for keeping it real and not cutting out the parts where it was a struggle. Great info
Mr. Brotherson, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your videos and your representation of the UTAH approach to outdoor recreation. Thank you!
You’ve taught me to pay someone else to do this for me😀
As we grow older, wiser and wealthier, we tend to say, screw this, give it out. Got better things to do with my time.
:D :D
Yup!
I asked my shop to do this. They popped the front high pressure bladder, discounted my other stuff, and said they will never try to do it again. DIY is my only option...
I ended up having my dealer install the bib mousse. They said there worst than tubeless to install.
Love seeing you sticking your neck and out following your dreams.
My son and I watch your videos quite often.
Have a blessed day.
Dude you’re the man! I followed your instructions and the rear is holding air! Woo now I’ll be living the low psi life!
Changing tires by hand is tough even tougher on the trail so converting to Tubliss is a great alternative, thanks for the hint and video, I will be installing on both wheels soon.
Cheers
Thanks for making the video. I had my tubliss system installed as I was in a pinch for time that week before a ride, and now I have to mount some new meat front and rear so I needed to see this process. Also, thanks for not editing out the struggle spots like many channels do, it’s good to know that Murphy shows up in other people’s shop.
When putting the tire on NOT OFF use the Baja no pinch tool. Works like a dream!
Ordered my tubliss a few days ago. GOOD TIMING!!! Thanks for the vid!!!
Thank you for making this video. I installed my tubliss rear and IRC VE33S tonight. The instructions that come with the kit are helpful, but your video really made this an easy process. I’m looking forward to getting out in the woods and giving this a try. Thanks again.
That is pefect timing as I have just ordered a Tubless set up for my 2019 Gasgas Ec 300. Thank you
Did two of these today while watching this video. One of the easiest tire changes I have ever done. Thanks again!
Thanks for this video Kyle - I just finished my install of Tubliss and Shinko 525 on the rear of my 390 RR-S with no issue at all. I did go the soapy water method though since I'm not going to run a sealant. Will do the front tomorrow.
Have installed tubliss twice and also change tires front and rear, with tubliss, twice. Still good to review the good way to do it. Thank you.
Kyle
Thank you for this fantastic video.
I have wondered how a tubliss system is fitted. Now I know.
A big thank you all the way from Swaziland in Africa.
Outstanding. I'm new to doing my own dirt bike maintenance, but this video allowed me to do it. Thanks for another great video!
Tubliss is amazing!
Nice vid explaining the process and easy to fix a puncture like a nail.. I carry a plug repair set with co2 canistors to fill up the low pressure side.
The kit is small and I carry it in my tool kit around my waist.
Saved me on an enduro trip in Romania.
I did ride for 30 mins on the trail with zero pressure which was no problem at all.
The traction in those gnarly woods was amazing.
In fact all the rentals had Tubliss and they never have a problem on them.
Those bikes were ridden hard too.
What I’ve started doing it “pre-staging” 2 tire irons at the last section of tire. Once the bead is super tight, those irons are in place and make it super easy to finish without damaging the tube or liner in this case.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful and it gave me the confidence to do my tubeless setup myself.
Just installed my first one, thanks for your help. Now i got to go out and Ride!
You make it look so easy having the right spoons does make the difference and the wheel stand great video🤙💯GOD BLESS
First tire change since i used this video to install the tubliss system. Using the tire section of the video I just had the easiest rear tire change I have ever experienced. Spot on.
Great info Kyle, installing one of these on a TE300i now. Thanks!
I’ve been considering changing to tubeliss. Then one of my bikes came with them and have been very happy with them. Now that I understand how to mount, I’ll switch all the bikes!
Great how to video Kyle. Heading to the garage to finish this project now!
Just got tubliss..this video is gonna come in handy..thanks Kyle!
I love your videos. The attention to detail you provide is very good. Well done!!
Did this yesterday with no issues - did the mallet trick on the last bit too. Replaced the Armour-All with Silicone spray lubricant - got the nice pop when the bead seated & is holding air. Thanks for the video - was going to pay someone to do it but feel it's better to learn as I go through tyres quite often!
Watched your previous video on installing the Tubliss system and can tell you honestly this was by far a much better-detailed video. Thanks
This made the install much easier! Thank you!
Great video, so many great tips. The most useful tip I found at about 21:11 where it’s almost the finish and you are just about sure you ordered the wrong size tyre 😁, using that 2nd tyre iron to knock the opposite side off the bead and further down into the rim make a huge difference, I found doing that multiple times really helped get this process over the line. Love all your videos
I remember doing this in the 80's (before all the fancy Tools from the Internet) with old Screwdrivers!! This looks so easy in comparison.
This video made my Saturday tire job a lot better. 👍
I tried installing this on my XR650L a few years ago. Wish I'd seen this vid then! You make it look easy and yes, I used a used tyre.
Thank you Kyle! How to apply the tape and using the bucket was genius!
Helpful hint. Use a rubber mallet in combination with tire iron. Really helps to get the final part of the tire over the rim.
Stuck with ya til the end. I love your videos.
Really appreciate it good informal video. I'm looking at doing tubeless system on my bike. Right now I have tubes and I'm going through one a week.
Thanks for the hint at the end! Awesome!!
AWESOME INSTRUCTIONS ! Thank you for such a great video. I'm sure you have helped many...
It so funny literally I was like lemme sit down for a few minutes and watch some Dirt Bike Channel and then bang I click down on my laptop and I've been sat here a whole 30 minutes. Kyle you should definitely consider allowing sweepstakes to send to other countries such as UK and Europe and then have the winner pay for the shipping if they want to or then re-sweepstake the bike to a second winner. I don't know how many other people would also be interested, but I would definitely be interested in this.
Nathan Eastham the reason he doesn’t is because theirs a lot of political bullshit if you are sending anything out of the country
Really liked your guide vs Nutech. One thing to point out I found that some tires are harder to install than others depending on the sidewall/structure. The Dunlop 606 is a bear. As a result, it's easier to pinch/damage the Tublis blader during the install. It's critical to be very carfull with tires you struggle with. Also, I've blown the bladder at the stem going over 120psi with the compressor. It's best to use the cycle pump as you've demonstrated.
Perfect timing. It's like you know I have the tubliss sitting there waiting to be put on and a pinch flat. Just waiting on the big brown truck that brings me parts lol
Dude.....thanks for the video...going to do this myself from now on to save money and to know its done right. Really appreciate it.
Interesting thought about using armor all instead of soapy water. The water usually evaporates too quickly to be useful. I use an instant detailer called slick mist. Not that it's any better or worse than armor all, it's just what I have sitting around. The spray bottle and shop towels are also convenient, and you can wipe down the bike afterwards. Double win!
Great video! Used it while installing my Gen 2 Tubliss system in my new 2020 XTrainer. Some differences like hole locations... Looking forward to testing it out this weekend.
Great video. Went out and bought Tubeless the next day.
Thanks alot. I'm installing one of these this week. Looks like my high low are closer together. Thanks for the video
I don’t have tubliss yet, but I struggled to get my new tire back onto the rim for like an hour, now that I have seen this about sitting on the tire will save me sooo much struggle
Best darn dirt bike channel. Thank you!
Bruh.. Sweet video. Thanks for showing all the stuff you fought with. Gritty stuff is real life.
Binge watching your videos. On video 23. So much information and very easy to digest. Keep up the great work
Just used this to install mine tonite. Better than the Mfg video. Thanks!
28:50 omg I just realised I watched a 30 min video. Dude. It was that interesting. You r so good at keeping it interesting
I wasn’t planning on watching the whole video. Was surprised when Kyle said thanks for sticking around. Didn’t realize I had until then.
Thanks for the video that was very helpfull and when I doubt I keep coming back at it ! Three things I'd like to add:
- Could you make a video on how to remove a tire properly without damaging the Tubliss ? I find it hard to not catch the tubliss when removing a tire.
- I have flipped my tires which were at 50% wear to get a fresher edge and they work properly with no pressure loss. Key seem to lub up the system before inflating the red blader.
- Blacksoap mixture used for the house and plants work perfectly and is natural.
Did it. Thanks for the tips and only got one puncher 😭. It’s worth the effort.
I watched this video 3-4 times....read some other articles, watch the tubliss videos. In the end, I followed this video, on the front I drilled the hole at the 4rth spoke, in the rear it already had 3 factory holes, I said no way am I drilling a 4rth. It worked out just fine. These instructions are spot on. THe tape comes with new instructions saying to wrap 3 times. I used fake Armor All from Dollar General, worked fine. Bottom line, I learned a new easy way to mount tires, I always struggled and busted my knuckles and tore the beads before. This just worked. Tubliss is best, most solid system I have tried. I previously used 3M tape, Flex Seal, and had very mixed results. Super happy with the product, they have held air for 2 hours so far which means they are probably good to go. I will try to ride this weekend. I dont plan to use these under 14 lbs anyways, I just dont want to have to change tubes on the road....plug n go for me! Thanks for this video, it was spot on!
Loving the New Intro
Great video! I purchased an FX350 with tubeless and wanted to know how to work on what I acquired. I really appreciate the trouble shooting. keep up the strong work!
Mate fantastic video, well done. Great Camera angles.
good video, one more trick I always use is to always put your next spoon in before levering the previous one.. When you get to the end like he did and couldn't get the spoon in that problem will be solved as you will have the last spoon waiting for you in place and not scratch the hell out of your black anodized rim!
Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
Cheers Mate, installed a rear Tubliss tyre today.
Bang on point... I found your video better than Nuetech's.
Can't wait to test this system out on the weekend 🤘
That is so cool you can do this stuff for a living!
This video is worth million bucks! Made the install a breeze!!!
I need to use this system. Great info
Great video Kyle, so informative and in great detail.
When you used the mallet at the end is why I never leave the bead lock for last.
And as a MC tech I’ve changed hundreds of half to 3/4 used tires to put new tubes in without tearing the tire/bead.
So like you stated, a used tire can be reused if you do it properly. But much older than a few hour old tire.
Hell even used tires on the old KTMs with two bead locks. Just gotta be patient and not take too big a bite.
Valves should be 4 spokes apart, drill a new hole and cap the other hole, that's what the little black button in the kit is for. You'll possibly tear the high pressure valve stem when installing if it's 180° from the rim lock
A good video tutorial. Thanks. For the heavy handed [me] I really do rely on the Baja No Pinch. The Michelin levers [popular in Europe] work very well. I'm a heavy handed oaf, and I can manage this. It is a slow process if you do this occasionally. But it isn't difficult.
Great tutorial. Like when things require tricks to solve the struggle
Super helpful. All the details here. Nice!
Awesome video !!! Now to ride I’m riding a 19 450 fx
Wow I just watched your video on how to do this from 2014. I've been trying to find a solution on how to get as much traction out of my dualsport tires. Wich are no joke 90% street tires and maybe 10% trail tires. Which are copy cat shinko 705's. I am afraid to air down more than 18psi due to how lose and easy it was to mount and set the bead. I will feel better with a set of these and my tires at a lower psi.
I kmow I should have never bought a Chinese yamaha clone. But it was the only way to get the bike I wanted. Well most of it anyways. I've been slowly replacing cheap parts with the real yamaha parts since those were cheaper to buy and import than the real bike, the yamaha xg250 tricker.
Ps. Thank you for the great vids and information you give.
thank you for the excellent instructional video, this is SUPER helpful!
That’s excellent thanks for showing
Thanks for great video and not editing out the real world scenarios as some do.
Didn't know a product like this existed !! Very nice !!
16:14 At this point, triple check that directional tires are rotating the right way and the tire is orientated according to the sidewall dot (if it exists) denoting the lightest part of tire. Match the lightest part of the tire with the heaviest part of the rim for better balancing.
Nice video! I have a Rabiconda, the bead breaker is handy for the last little tight bit shown at 22:15 🙂 Excellent tip with the Armor All. Soapy water works well, but it dries out pretty quickly. Armor All stays slippery for awhile!
I like to see that even Kyle allows for scraping and dinging the rim finish when throwing a tire on. Without a machine it's a violent process. Great job with video. Thanks!
I wonder why tire spoons are not dipped/coated in plastic? seems obv
The good news is ,the tire bead does not seal on the rim. You could use rim protectors, if you wanted to prevent damage to the rim. Cheers. And thanks to Kyle!
Worked perfectly. Thank you
Seeing u struggling at this makes me feel better bc u change way more than me and i was getting so mad doing mine today
He didn't struggle with it
Awesome video mate! Help me with my first set of tubeless tyres, thank you
great video thanks! really explains well how to gitter done!
Brilliant. Appreciate you man!!
Just finished up installing tubliss on both front n back tires on a crf450l. Tires had a good 200 miles on em and a fair amount was off road. The back tire put up a fight but the front was pretty easy and absolutely doused 'em in armor all and that green goop tire sealant stuff. So far no fast leaks, crossing fingers for no slow ones either but I guess that's pretty common.
Great video one thing I would add is to torque the rim lock down to the specs Tubliss reccommends,in case you loose pressure in the bladder 😎
Great instructional video. You gained another sub. Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial! Install a pair the first time tonight in just over an hour. Easily would have been double that without the tips.
Nicely done. Anwered my question s about tubliss
thanks for this video, really helped me!!
Awesome channel man! Keep it up!
Very helpful video !! Hope to see more dirt bike tech videos!😍 and your videos are long that's because of the important informations in😉👌❤
Great video, something that I've found helps with tire install is to get a couple of small ratchet clamps (wood clamps) you can use them to pinch and hold the tire into the recess channel in the rim to help keep it there while spooning in the bead
Genius, im trying that
Not sure why the tubliss technique says to put opposite side in the drop center when there is NO DROP CENTER on a tubliss setup!
