Nice rebranding of Jonty Faull Mick. He's as slow as treacle, has a 2 litre tank & the turning circle of the Queen Mary (check his combine numbers against others of his ilk). Can jump reasonably well, clunk them on the hit up lead & he's a solid set shot when someone puts the ball in his hands. Logan McDonald MK II.
Rapt with our haul and, like you, turning our 6th pick into North's future first was a master-stroke by Hartley and co. Let's go the Mighty Tiges!!! 😤💪
@@BigFootyTigerscast He could play as a fifth tall. Have Lynch, Lefau, Bauer, Armstrong in the forward line with Hotton and Koschitzke. There’s still plenty of speed there.
Quite pleased myself, I think people have to remember we have to have more pieces to the puzzle of premierships coming in yrs to come while we may have picked up some major players it doesn't all get done usually in 1 draft although we come pretty close by the looks of it. Well done to all to Blair and the team, North just put the cherry on top at the end for me 👍
Love Blair and the team’s work! And also love the irony of North trying to tell us we should cough up picks 6&10 for pick 2, then getting desperate at the death and coughing up their future first (likely top 5 pick) for two picks in the mid 20’s (this year and next). If they were reasonable and made a play for our picks 6&18, they could have got both Tauru and Trainor. Laughing all the way to the 2025 draft!
Unbelievable haul. Armstrong at 23 was the icing on the cake, until North decided to add an extra layer . Will be able to get another 2 gun mids next year then look out.
i feel as if we maybe should have had more of a emphasis on pace when it comes to our midfield selections, i know we got that with Taj Hotton but i would have preferred 2 instead of 1 but regardless of that i think we have done a pretty incredible job with our selections and i am so incredibly stoked to have gotten Armstrong, i was worried we would have missed out when we ended up selecting Jonty Faull but it turns out we didn't which is really exciting and I'm glad we drafted multiple kids who have played together before, i think that's also a massive plus. tomorrow night i would be hoping to either take Dodson, Trade it for a future 1st or just trade back for a couple of picks in the 30s cause i like the idea of potentially going for Sam Davidson out of our VFL but there is a chance Davidson doesn't get taken and we could sign him in the rookie draft or as a SSP train on, but whatever happens i trust the club.
Really happy with the picks, mix with what we have we can jump as quick as the hawks have under michell. I think we will get another first round pick for tonight's pick.
Its a bit of a mixed bag i think disappointed lindsay didnt last one more pick, ecstatic about hotton trainer and armstrong falling to us That north melbourne trade was a chefs kiss (even if north finish just outside the 8 next yr) Shanahan still being on the board hopefully puts us in a good position to get essendon to give up either there or Melbourne's first rounder next yr Also might be meaningless but picking 3 players from the same team and 2 also from the same team could be good really good chemistry wise
I'm obviously rapt with the players we drafted, but I take a different spin on things. Lalor and Smillie are big ticks and Hotton is perfect to replace Bolton, but I'm against drafting Faull at 14 as the talls were obviously going later in the draft and we missed some speed and run and carry in not getting a Allen or Berry. I also rate Shanahan above Faull as his marking is a lot cleaner. Faull gets his hands to a lot of balls but doesn't clunk them, which is a worry as we already have Sampson Ryan and J Kozzy, who drop far too many marks. I believe we should trade our first pick tonight for 2 picks in the late 30's to get players with some run and carry. After losing Bolton and Rioli, our midfield is too one paced. I do love the slider's in Armstrong and Trainor as they are a steal.
Blair's not done yet... watch him turn our last pick into a future first and a later pick in this draft. There will be teams that have a guy they rate really highly, and they think it's more value to take them now than get a late first rounder next year. He'll generate value out of this pick.
Got my man Armstrong :) How like Michaels said miracles happen lol I nearly smashed the tv with out pics 10 and 11. Hotton ACL Faull back problems trainer concussion?? I'm glad your happy with the overhaul.
Armstrong that late is crazy ha ha. I think if you looked at nearly all players they had an injury of sorts, so I don't factor it in too much. ACL's are big, but our new fitness guy studied recovery of those specifically so hopefully thats the key!
@@BigFootyTigerscast Hope so what he will have 5 dudes with acl so will get heaps of practice lol Poor guy talk about sending someone into the furness.
Nice summary. I'm still unsure about some of the selections. I would have loved 1 of the small forwards in Joe Berry or Oliver Hannaford or 1 of the tall defenders in Tauru or Travaglia. I'm unsure about Josh Smillie - big bustling midfielder yes, reasonable kick, can pinch hit in the forward - but concerned about his marking and competitive level. Only time will tell. Jonty Faull was a big surprise tonight, first of the key fowards and many rated him at #4 from that list. It was already known going in that Jonty was high on Richmonds list. Jonty might be the best all rounder of the key forwards. Good mark, competitive, good kick - smaller than the others but more mobile. Picked to fill the CHF role. Harry Armstrong - big slider but potentially the best key forward. At least his power rankings show that (but put into context, was also in the best team). Great kick and mark. Hopefully time (maturity) and the group around him can guide him to become the best of himself. Picked to play the deep FF. Thomas Sims - interesting pick. Jury is out - however i think he's seen as a mobile ruckman with a high leap, good mark and good kick. Very athletic and strong - can play forward but also in the same mold of Luke Jackson. Taj Hotton and Luke Trainor - injuries are a concern. Project players that need time - but great talent and skill on offer from both. Both were tracking for top 5-10 before hit with injuries. Only time will tell if the picks were worth it. But could be 200+ game careers. Here's hoping for the best. Jasper Alger - happy with the pick. He was on Tigers list and we were lucky to still get him at pick 58. Small forward ... position we need. Wish we picked Berry instead but Alger could still step into the role of a good competitive small forward. Sam Lalor - potential champion of the game. Needs to work on his conditioning and fitness/flexibility. Needs a solid preseason to trim a little but given his injuries, understandable. The sky the limits ... only time will tell where he ends up. The future is bright ... another good year on clever targeted draft picks and a trade or 2 and Tigers could be in the 8 again in 2027. Challenging for a flag as early as 2028-2029.
Taj seems to have the jets to be a gun. Risk vs reward. Armstrong is the cherry on the icing. Would have liked Bo Allan instead of Faull but that's probably gonna be something we don't know the result of for 3 or 4 years. As someone has said Trade our last pick for future first round and a later pick in this round. We could then grab Davidson.
I was disappointed with the 10 and 11 picks but it was mostly because we didn’t take Armstrong. I would’ve been happy to take Armstrong at 11 and Faull at 20 so it worked out. Also means I’m less disappointed about Hotton. I think the best thing we could do is either trade 24 for a F1 from another bottom 6 potential side or maybe get a future 1 and a late pick to get Sam Davidson. Super drafting and most happy to be wrong about Hotton. Also great work throughout the entire draft period mate, been great to listen to your thoughts.
Sam Lalor no surprise, Josh Smillie no surprise think we went for best available, I reckon we would have picked Langford over Smillie if available but he was next best in line. Jonty Faul for me was a massive surprise, but I can't get my head around Harry Armstrong sliding to pick 23, I don't get it what was it that other clubs didn't like about him he seemed the best Key forward to me, great kick & a competitive player. I think we have definitely taken some risks with Trainor & Hatton they are definitely talented though, I really hope they become what we hope.
We had heard whispers he may have interviewed poorly, but the kid can clearly play. at some point you have to back yourself to course correct a few of those things, fingers crossed!
@@BigFootyTigerscast I know it's a media interview versus club interviews, but last night he was the least well-spoken off our draft picks. Smillie was very smooth infront of the camera and Lalor wasn't far behind. Kinda tracks Armstrong didn't put his best foot forward in club interviews. Having said that Blair spoke how he stands up in big moments in finals so that tracks well.
I think they nailed this. It would have been good to get a small forward but we may have that anyway in Hotton Mid/Forward. I can not believe Shanahan is still available ? But that’s the case ? Do the Tigers trade on night two ? Or is it Shanahan or Alger or Davis or Gerreyn or somebody not thought off ? Happy with this draft 👍🏆17 🏆19 🏆20 🐅🐅🐅
I take your point, I think people are sleeping a bit on Judson Clarke. Gets his body right going into season three look out. We could have a very good one already on the list he has just been injured.
My Thoughts for Richmond ..... Then. .......... Now D.Martin..>>> S.Lalor J.Graham >>>J.Smillie S.Bolton >>>> T.Hotton J.Reiwoldt >>>> J.Faull D.Grimed >>>>> L.Trainor T.Lynch >>>>>. I don't think we need any of them to play 'well' in year 1, they are still kids, but the aim should be to try get them to 50 games ASAP, provided their form warrants selection.
With rumours of Essendon of wanting our pick just say no we need a small forward only have two players in Rioli and Green so we need another small forward tonight
Im going to be backing Koschitzke in. I think he could be a good Centre half back ? He does need to start marking his mark ? But he also needs the opportunity ? I think keep him back and give him a strong pre-season in that role and give him a chance to shut down some of the best forwards? We didn’t bring him over for nothing and he didn’t come over for nothing? We just need to give him the opportunity? Have to wait and see ?
If Koscitzkes is in our firsts team, with who we have brought in maybe Yze isn’t the right man, Hawks wernt keeping him even if we didn’t take him, now when a team doesn’t want u at the club at all, he should have been gone b 4 Cumberland 1year contract or not
Imagine sliding 10 picks because you're a bit awkward speaking in front of lots of people at 18yo. Steal. Maybe he didnt convey a great deal of commitment or similar but still, whos acts natural in a job interview..
Yeah exactly right, if thats the only knock, it's a HUGE steal. The kid can seriously play and on footy ability everyone had him a lock for top 10! You could see the smirks on our teams face as they locked this pick in ha ha
