You might need to keep the fans for the heat from the fireplace! I have 15 ft ceilings with a wood stove and although the wood stove works great, the heat just rises so the fan helps bring the heat back down to us 😂

My in- laws have a very high ceiling and a balcony overlook and they have fans the same way. The main reason you will use them so much is because the ceilings are so high , heat rises, and you can set the fans to circulate the heat back down to warm the entire living area . Just thought that might be helpful when teying to make a decision about keeping them . Love the house !!!! Looks like a great place to snuggle up with a warm cup of coffee and a good book. Love the country vibes 😊

I think the wine room is beautiful - but I also think that would be a perfect spot for a sauna - bcse it's right off the gym! It's such a large room I wonder if you could take part of it for a sauna - although I know both are specific temperate climates so - don't know if that would work. It was just a thought that popped into my head & then you mentioned the rainforest room just a bit later. I just think the placement of the wine cellar is a great spot for it!

I would keep the washer and dryer upstairs but swap out the tub for a shower and then build in the w/d next to the shower (so they aren't sitting out in the open). Or build a separate laundry room upstairs somewhere. But going all the way down to the basement with your room on the 2nd floor is going to get old fast.

I suggest living in the house with the fans. We have a cottage property with extremely high ceilings and fans in every room. In summer we reverse the fans to circulate the cold air a/c and in the Fall and Winter, we reverse it back to circulate the hot air from the fireplace and heaters. We also have "Big Ass Fans" which are phenomenal for moving air. Usually installed at airports.
Love the changes to the stairs.

The house is beautiful! My only concern is the deck railings for Carl. They are big enough for him to fit through. If he gets too close, I’d have them covered with plexiglass to keep him safe while keeping those beautiful railings.
I agree about waiting to see if you use the fans. Heat rises & you have really high ceilings, they may be there to push the heat down in the winter. I’m a big ceiling fan…fan (lol), so I’d always use them to circulate the air all year round.

Love ur new home. Keep fans in living room, with the high ceilings u want to move the warm air down in winter as the heat rises. With the TV in bedroom put it on swivel bracket. Then invite me over 😂😂😂. I’m in Vancouver waiting for snow so I’m loving ur snowy outlook.

  • @danielleS257
    @danielleS257 Год назад +1

Just a dream!! I’d keep the ceiling fans b/c it’s not always going to be winter, but they will also help move warm air if the motion is revered. Maybe have them dropped down more. When you showed the door to the wine cellar in an earlier video but made some comment about it, I just knew it was going to be a sauna but how awesome!! And I love the chandelier in it. The juxtaposition between the rustic and fancy… ❤️. And I get your enjoyment of the wine opener. I bought my first house b/c it had this amazing hanging pot holder 😂. Congratulations & can’t wait to see it all become HOME.

I agree you should wait at least a year before considering getting rid of the fans but after 30+ years in their house, my parents are very happy to have a fan circulating air into the loft. They also have very similar weather that you have.

I am a little confused. Since you have two houses, which one is your main house? I love log cabins for Christmas aesthetic, however, log cabins are a very specific aesthetic that I would tire of very quickly. It reminds me of glamping cabins. I love dark wood but I need nice clean white walls and more modern aesthetic.

If you’re tv in bed people you could do a drop down screen from the ceiling. If you wanna watch it’s down, if not it disappears. Existing location of tv on side wall not realist for viewing from bed until you use a tilting wall mount. Personal preference but I’m not a fan. You could free that wall up for some other idea.

Keep the fans! With your high ceilings, you can change the direction of the fan depending on the season. Hot air rises, so it should turn counter-clockwise in the summer to pull hot air up and push cool air down. And in colder seasons, set the fans to turn clockwise to push warm air down to the floors.
I live in a hot climate area, so my fans are mostly in the counter-clockwise direction except for January and February. So, I know they aren't always to most amazing looking (though you can totally get better looking ones), they're really handy for helping cool/warm your home. Especially with those super high ceilings.
That tub in your primary en suite... total bathroom goals for me too! I've always wanted a tub with feet and a separate shower. It's on my dream house blueprint 🥰

I'm curious as to the heating costs with those baseboard heaters. I'm sure they have come a long way since I had them 25 years ago. And you can close off rooms and only heat the ones you are using.
Also, here in BC, it's super wet and when we didn't have the airflow of the furnace, our windows would be super wet in the morning. I found turning on the fan of the fireplace helped, and I'll bet those ceiling fans would help as well as moving the warm air around. You can probably set them to suck the air up, or push it down. Definitely something to play with

About the fans in the great room, you may want to live with them awhile. I have high ceilings like you and the heat tends to go up there and the only way to get the heat below is with the fan pushing it down. You may find your loft is really warm. I am only telling you what I experienced in my own home. Congratulations on your new home, I wish you and Andre the best that life has to offer, you are such a cute couple and I love watching how excited you get. Take care and have a wonderful weekend and say hi to Carl, he is just so darn cute.
