Allegedly those sonic booms were used to help triangulate Nazrallah's location based on the audio from the live speech. Very interesting yet simple if true.
According to members of the Israel subreddit, sonic booms couldn’t be used to do it in that fashion. The real reason for making sonic booms is to get the enemy accustomed to hearing them so they don’t scramble for cover.

The thing that annoys me most about online comments sections about the conflict in the middle East is the phenomenon where Americans will try to give their leaders credit/anti-credit over it. 'Oh, This war never would have happened if X was president', or 'of course war broke out, Y is president!'
It's like Americans cannot grasp the concept that maybe, just maybe, this war isn't about them.

Which middle-eastern country is Israel fighting now?
Simon: Yes.
Actually none. They fight hezbollahh in lebanon and hamas in gaza. Hezbollah is not the lebanese gkverment (even though it has a political branch) and hamas is the gazan goverment but gaza isn't a country
I don’t remember anyone having a problem when civilian members of a certain world war 2 German political party were attacked. If you involve yourself with terrorist groups, you put yourself in the crossfire. The fact that large parts of the Lebanese populace are involved with hezbollah doesn’t make them any less terrible. It makes them more dangerous.
Especially the "youth leaders", whose job it is to recruit more terrorists.

Top tier coverage and an objective take on events that is SORELY lacking in main stream media.
If more people watched this content, they would have less staunch opinions on the subject because things are way too complicated to have one simple solution.
It’s not simple; that’s why people are at war.
A lot of people in Western media are condemning the moves Israel is making against Hamas and Hezbollah (and soon Iran), but what are their diplomatic options? They are surrounded on every side by groups whose stated goal is their elimination down to the last man, woman and child. Islamic groups regularly use terror bombing as a weapon, but cry foul when someone does a controlled explosion anywhere near their civilians like Hezbollah is doing. Gaza is a different story, and it's horrific the number of civilians who have been killed there, but Hamas consistently uses them as human shields and builds rocket launch sites next to the refugee camps - or inside them. What are Israel's options? They either sit and let these groups consistently shoot rockets and missiles at them, in hopes that their iron dome can catch 100% of them at risk of their own civilians being killed - or they bomb the launch sites and have to deal with the backlash of the inevitable civilian casualties.
There's not a good option for them to take anymore, so I think they've just resigned themselves to doing whatever has to be done to end the attacks by any means.
Once the conflict started, Israel doesn't really have any good option but to fight. Unfortunately, its their peace time choices that are worthy of criticism. Colonial expansion, making arab muslims second class citizens, retaliatory murders from private citizens. A shame really, neither side seems to make anything more than the most minimum effort to coexist. The Israelis gave up on trying decades ago, and the Arabs never even bothered
Israel attacks them all the time. That's why they're so hostile. Israel keeps the Palestinians almost in a near modern Healot type existence. Israel commits war crimes like people breath. They had choices they could have taken. Instead, they chose to be evil.
The world not baught by Aipac and the likes money walked out at the U.N. They're so out of controll that they have been indicted for genocide. This is unheard of for a an american protectorate. They speculate on lands they just want to conquer openly. They put terrorism in the supply chains. Israeli small business are shuttering all the time. Outside some tech stuff, they have a zombie economy. They murdered most of their laborers. You're insane if you think, "What choice did they have."
I mean…at the very beginning they said “this is Israel’s 9/11”.
That means they plan on running around the Middle East invading and declaring war on everyone for the next 20 years.
You only see what you want to see because you are lazy
Exactly
You’d never know by this video that Hez has been sending rockets into Israel for almost a year before Israel retaliated.
You’d also know from decades of history that Israel has been occupying and ethnically cleansing in the region for a long time. They also invaded Lebanon in the past. It’s clear who the warmongers are.
Israel has been firing across the border and bombing beirut, and conducting terrorist attacks in lebalon, and bombing syria. I would just like to remind you that most of the wars Israel has been in, israel is the first one to break the cease-fire line. It was the case with egypt, with syria, and with lebanon. Oh, but always with the very good excuse of "They were gonna attack us, I swear it daddy (USA)"
Israel was bombing Lebanon first, targeting Hezbollah leaders with rockets to civilian infrastructure even before the war in Gaza even started. Stop lying
and you'd think by that comment that israel hasn't been committing a genocide in Gaza for the past 11 months. or that its leader doesn't have an international warrant for his arrest for war crimes. or that those rockets that hez have fired have mostly landed in scrubland and empty streets. or that Israel hasn't been killing civilians in sovereign nations for a year. or been illegally occupying territory for decades.

Lebanon has no reason to be at war with itself. They chose peace decades ago. The only reason Hezbollah still exists is the continued threat of Israeli invasion - a threat that has come to fruition.
Yeah its not a real state. Hezbollah is sadly the de facto state and the lebanese gov and army are a castrated caretaker force at this point.

First saying that people who pledged allegiance to Hezbollah would be expected to take up arms if needed... and then saying that the attack targeted civilians and not militant...is so strange. If you pledge allegiance to a terrorist organisation, receive a pager for operational use, and are expected to take up arms if needed...then you are not just a simple civilian anymore.
Reservists that aren't under arms or in uniform are still considered civilians until they take up arms.
It's definitely a tricky question regardless when dealing with asymmetric forces, because of how hard it is to deal with forces that don't always wear uniforms and frequently hide among civilians.
The people nearby the "terrorists"? The emt's?
Fairness in combat (insofar as it can exist at all) is when your rules of engagement match your opponent's. That's a pretty fair way to approach the topic of ethical standards in war, and is essentially derived from the golden rule (i.e. "treat others the way you want to be treated"). So realistically, no targets are really unfair to strike when fighting an opponent that targets civilians. Putting on civilian clothes does not and should not be a magical shield against experiencing the consequences of participating in an organization that actively and continuously attacks civilian targets.
International rules of engagement should only apply to sovereign military organizations, not paramilitaries or terrorists
That would make most crimes against humanity during WWII legal since they targeted people who were not members of sovereign military organisations.
It's shocking to me that you refer to the pager attack as indiscriminate when 99% of those hit were Hezbollah members. Given that Hezbollah is a terrorist organisation, that makes them terrorists, even if they also occasionally work as medical staff. And these pagers were specifically used by Hezbollah to relay instructions to it's operatives. And as to collateral damage, please remind me how many civilians died when the US and US and UK invaded Afghanistan?
Here's what the Law says: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_Certain_Conventional_Weapons.

I gotta say the only thing I disagree with is the claim that some of the pages went to the civilian wing of hezbollah. Pretty sure as far as the law is concerned.
If you support or work for a terrorist organization you are no longer a civilian.
It is made hard to parse on purpose because Hezbollah strategically uses civilians for this exact reason.
So, by your reasoning, anyone who supports Israel is not a civilian?
And this, of course, justifies the abhorrent level of collateral.😅@@PopeSixtusVI
Agreed as i said in my own comment military mechanics and medics aren't called civilian personnel and just like them these guys they're expected to fight if asked.
Does that include Azov Battalion?
Thank you for your last few statements, most of my family has been in and out of bomb shelters. It’s mind blowing to me this is where we are one year later.
I was waiting for this since I heard!
If opponents hide behind civilians then the discussion needs to be had on who is responsible for collateral damage.
Genius comment. 🙄
No it doesnt. All deaths in a war against terrorists are the fault of the terrorists. This is basic common sense. No discussion required.
@@dherman0001
you can starve children to death if you just label them terrorists. how convenient.
It’s the fault of those that hide behind civilians. The end. Wow that was a quick discussion!
@michaelmccleary337
Your teacher taught you that talking to yourself and pat yourself in the shoulder is a "discussion"?
Terror you fight with Terror.
No
Not sure what I would do without your videos. Thank you for always keeping your finger on the pulse.
What’s wild to me is that this is basically one of/if not the most peaceful time periods in humanity, and what’s going on conflict wise seems so fucked still.
welp its safe to say they are now in the find out stage **officially**
I'm not an expert on international law, but Israel just executed the most targeted anti terror operation in history.
If being so precise violates the law than the law should be updated or else non state actors simply can't be acted against and can go around and do whatever they want.
Some small number of civilians were indeed hurt which is a tragic.
However, 99.8% of the people who had these pagers *glued to their body* survived; that small of an exlosion gives the impression the risk for bystanders to get seriously hurt was significantly low (even if not 0).
The innocents who were hurt were mostly Hezbollah family members (once again, tragic).
One of the reported "children" killed was an actual 16 year old Hezbollah active fighter.
Here is what current International Law has to say: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_Certain_Conventional_Weapons.
Russia hopes you are not paying attention to them any more.
Russia is winning decisively. They can't spin the story that easily anymore. They are waiting for a new propaganda narrative from the CIA
Israel has gone full John Wick.
like whimpering wet puppy without USa
Really liked the zoom in - zoom out structure of the video. Thanks!
Gives a new meaning to "Justice is blind."
Btw, when was this video made? They specifically said they targeted commanders who carried the devices
NONE, ZERO of those pagers belonged to civilians. Hisbollah personnel are, by definition, NOT CIVILIANS.
This is an absolutely ESSENTIAL difference, considering attacking civilians would be a war crime. Don't blur those lines!
It's astounding how many people are shrieking "terrorism" at Israel. There is literally NOTHING Israel can do to please these people - & yet these self-same people are furious that Israel refuses to even bother listening to them.
@@SafetySpooon “there’s nothing Israel can do to please these people😭😢”
Wow? people are shrieking terrorism at the terrorist west? Do you think we’ve forgotten about the Islamic State of America’s creation and support of Al-Qaeda? The Taliban? ISIS? Hamas? Al-Nusra? The Irgun? The Lehi? The Dawa in Iraq?
America and Israel are the wright brothers of terrorism!
They were loyalists without being in their rank probably
Apparently, the kids that died are all terrorists.
Also, we don't know who those pagers belonged to. There is no evidence that they all went to hezbullah.
Stop this propaganda.
Do you understand that people living there have for most part no other choise than to be part of Hezbollah ? Like you had to be part of comunist party to be a doctor in USSR and so on. Civilian causelities are part of war, no matter how do you label them.
Funny how the death of women is relayed with such reverence, but nothing to be said for the dead, non-combatant men 🤔
Non-combatant men usually make the vast majority of civilian deaths, as it is a trend in many wars.
when your country is at war there is no such thing as a non-combatant man...

Because in war men are much more disposable than women. Take a village with 50 men and 50 women. If 49 men die in war the village can still survive with the one remaining man impregnates the 50 women. Not good for genetic diversity, but they will survive. If 49 women die for some reason that village is finished and will go extinct. Since the limiting factor for population is how fast a woman can have children. This logic doesn't change with higher populations.
It's hard to believe how much back and forth there has been before Wars actually been declared.
When it comes down to it, international law is something that most countries rarely take into consideration.
That is not true. Observe how Russia did not annex South Ossetia, Luhansk or Donetzk. Notice that Armenia had to abandon Nagorny Karabakh. Even post-fascist Giorgia Meloni of Italy refused to accept as ambassador for Israel somebody who had been a mayor of an illegal settlement in the West Bank. Eventually Indonesia abandoned East Timor. Sweden boycotts products from Morocco because Morocco illegally occupies Western Sahara.
Israel did not begin the war, it was Hezbollah that launched rockets into the north of Israel on Oct. 8
Israel started invading 4 years before Hezbollah was founded.
International Laws seems like the most useless thing
It’s a construct of colonial liberal powers to work with to legitimise themselves. It’s not designed to hold them accountable..
In your video about iran's military, you did not even mention the besiege force or the fact that they supposedly have hundreds of thousands of missiles underground
There were some "mine explosions" in Iran last week or so - maybe they *don*t have any more nukes.
Nobody use a pager nowadays unless he or she is instructed to do so. Normal person use HANDPHONE.
People started using pagers because there was a fear Israel put bombs in phones
The thing with the pager bombs seems like something out of Call of Duty Black Ops II. Wait, BO2 takes place in what year? Huh.
Thats fucked that a phone can be a bomb and u never know it
Every smartphone is, they have lithium batteries.
the attack started at october 8!
Hezbollah doesn't follow international law so why should Israel?
Are you agreeing that Hezbollah and Israel are on the same level? Aight. I agree, both of them are terrorists!
I don't think international law is the point here. The point is: Has-balls-off kills civilians by intent. That is literally what they are aiming for. For Israel, killing civilians is a regrettable, but unavoidable side effect due to Has-balls-off hiding among them.
Maybe Hezbollah said the same but other way around and decided that they shouldn’t follow the law since their enemy won’t
OK if Israel doesn't follow international law, then what should Lebanon (who has very much tried to stay within those margins) do in response? Because that is the country being attacked here
Because the Law demands you follow the Law regardless of whether others follow the Law. In fact it is not up to you to decide who follows the Law and who doesn't.
I was so confused clicking on the video like "did Simon start another channel?" Then I realized they rebranded
Thanks pagers
Your analysis is the pager attack is absurd. It was specifically targeted against terrorist members and was actively triggered, not random explosives - but explosives assigned to individual terrorists. The percentage of collateral damage is less than any other urban warfare attack in modern warfare. If that is considered a war crime, then the laws need to change.
If Ukraine had pulled off the same operation against the Russians, your coverage would be radically different. You usually do a good job of keeping bias in check, but this was ridiculous.
Keeping bias in check? Google self awareness champ.
Right. People burn effigies about the tragic collateral death in Gaza, but Israel pulls off a hyper targeted attack through Hezbollah’s own supply chain and people still throw stones.
I guess Israelis are just supposed to lay down and resign themselves to conquest and death for fear of collateral damage and international outcry.
Here's what International Law has to say about this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_Certain_Conventional_Weapons.
Eye for eye Tooth for tooth, War is Hell and Death takes many.
That sounds a bit too much like condoning war crimes, for my taste.
Bhoo Hoo@@JesseJoyce-cj2xg
You never remind that Hezbollah is a terror organization.
you misspelled Israel, that's the terrorist organization
Israel more so. Just look at GAZA.
@gildardo Israel is at war with Gazan terrorists who attacked them, and now play the victims. Killing people and then crying victim is part of the Islamist play book.
Only for the west, not for most of the world
@@Myles0Harcourt Right, Israel has always killed Palestinian civilians. Weather they peacefully protest or do nothing at all. What you see is GAZA is Israel killing to it's heart's content. No Palestinian is spared, weather child, woman, elderly or unborn. Israel playing the victim as it starves and commits Genocide in GAZA.
This was very educational, thank you.
Thanks!
