Saw him many times. I will always put him up as one of the top few guitarists in the rock/blues world It is inexcusable that he is not in the rock and roll hall of fame. It is sad to see him so weak but still catering to his fans. I will never forget hearing Johnny Winter and... live around 1971. Turned my music world upside down

Saw Johnny and his brother play in Kansas City KS in the autumn of 1969, (not long after Woodstock). He and Edgar spent about 15 minutes backstage listening to my questions and such modest and friendly guys. Johnny had a little mishap that night and lost his footing, hit his head near the edge of the stage during a song. He had a heck of a bruise on his noggin, but he was red hot. Edgar's band opened and Edgar sat in on a couple of numbers with Johnny's band that night as well. I was just a kid then and they were such good guys. Great memory.

I never had the opportunity or pleasure to meet Johnny, and I actually think about that often.
He's one of the people who sparked my desire to play guitar as a boy.
I did have the great pleasure of meeting Rick Derringer quote a few years ago when he played a surprise show in the football field of my old highschool.
What an amazing show, and am awesome time just talking with him for a bit.
I still have the cup he signed for me and keep it in a glass cabinet.
2 of my most important guitar heroes

I was fortunate enough to see Johnny Winter three times (twice in the '70s, once in the '80s). Man could he play. The early shows were the rowdiest I've been too. Fights, bottles being thrown (not at Johnny). Good times. He definitely earned his place among the best guitarists of all time.

I don't know who's posting these videos of Johnny Winter but I sure am glad I'm getting them, I'm glad somebody has the sense enough to know just who Mr. Johnny Winter was and is now in my opinion one of the greatest blues legends to ever sing and play the blues, and that's a hell of a list of great players my friend, Johnny to me was at least in the top 5 in the history of the blues, I grew up listening to Johnny Winter, and his guitar picking and slide playing and most of all his singing was like no other, you do the math.
