Very Helpful Petrelli!!! Your videos besides its so clear, i like how you explain how things work. I hope you could make a video about slipping seatpost. I am sure with your experience you can help us your subscriber understand the causes of such. Thank You and more power sir!
Hello Petrelli, thanks for helping us understand the operation of the brompton pieces, you have explained it very well and very easy to understand, regards 😊👍☘️.
I just took delivery of my first Brompton shipped direct to me from a US dealer. Left hand grip was not pushed all the way on, so the handle bar would strike the floor. The brake levers, as well as the handlebar were pitch too far forward to close without forcing it, which apparently they did in the factory. I fixed it all, but I really shouldn’t have had to do all that. Oh and the handlebars and the front stem were not aligned with the wheel. Perhaps someone new build my bike at the factory? It’s all fixed now and I do love the bike
Those Super light one is like random length. Although most of them are abit Long, but if you have a rack in your bike, you might just about to make it through.
Thank you! I've lost my stop disc set due my bad assembly. I purchase a alternative lightweight stop disc, then I noticed I've lost the concave washer (brompton name), washer and spring washer (part number 9040070 or QLSDA if you are looking for the brompton part number/name for the complete set). *What can I use as alternative for the concave washer?*
Thanks for watching one of the older video. I think it’s time to remaster some of the older one as there are newer option that’s on the market. Anyway, there was a time (on the road) when we don’t have the concave washer but had to continue with the ride. I used a stack a normal washers to get the work done. The key is to matching the same stack height as the concave one. These concave washers aren’t Brompton exclusive. You should be able to access them from a lot of websites and local bike shop. They hardly worth anything. I hope I had answered you.
As an owner of a Lightweight, I of course soon changed the stop disc to a lighter, titanium model, with a new carbon disc on top. And my seat post is a, given to me as standard, Scandinavian size, 600 mm so if it can't just let it go through, as it is way too long for being able to fold my bike efficiently (I still have much seat post on top of my bike, when folded). Or maybe I can, but it is till too long for my B&W travelbox to be able to function, without taking it out, and the sadle off the seat post, so for a try I have ordered a 535 mm black titanium post to see if I, being 184 cm, am able to still ride it then?? ;-) Finn, Denmark
Thanks for the info. Now I know why my bike keeps opening when I lift it up. But what do I need to do to prevent the bike from opening when I lift it up? Is it to get the stopper to within 1-2 mm away from the post?
Are Brooks comfortable? maybe, but it just doesn't work out for me. Saddle are very personal, you have to try it to know it. I believe the Brooks and Brompton relationship came a long way. Its more like a cult to me. If you see any Brompton riders that rides Road bike or MTB, they would only slot there RB/MTB saddle to their Brompton, but they would never do it the other way round. I am a big fan of the San Marco Mantra & Selle Italia SLR. I could sit on them and ride for a day and still comfortable in them.
I watched this video back when I was shopping quite some time ago now. It's been a few months and I finally took delivery of my Brompton. I feel that I have maxed out the adjustment on my stock lower stop disc but it's still just a little too far from the seat post to be secure. I'm not sure if my bike happens to be a little oddly shaped or what!? I'm not sure what to do since it sounds like the most versatile and adjustable stop disc 😢
@@NoZenith i see. What i did was to first adjust the 15mm screw to the desired height. Then use a 19mm wrench to tighten the rubber stopper accordingly. Otherwise u can try purchase the "thor hammer". Hope this helps.
sorry about the late reply. The Brompton Original seat post works well, but it would rust. If rust is a concern to you, you can look into the titanium seatpost, to me, they are most comfortable as well.
😆 I did watching it to the end because I just got the thor hammer, was hoping you'd show us how to fix it up properly. But it's not there in the end sadly
The hummer and the original stop disc are setup with the same method. Remove the original stop disc from the Brompton and directly replace it with the hammer. Remember those spacers had to be in the same arrangement as the original as well. Once you had this done, check if the contact point to the seatpost is in good spacing of 1 to 2 mm away. If it is, we are good to go. If not, you will have to adjust the hammer head according how I described in the video. I hope I had answered your concern, if not, drop me a note, maybe I can make a video for you on this one. Cheers.
Hi , Is aftermarket brompton headset works better than the orginal brompton headset?? Most of my friend have change alway the orginal headset to aftermarket..
Thanks for watching my video, its good to have you here. There are 3 ways to look at this. First is the weight, the aftermarket headset are generally made with aluminium, they are normally 40% lighter than the original Brompton headset. Second, the alu one doesn't rust like the original one. Third, the Brompton original uses some exposed bearing, they are good as long as you maintain them. The aftermarket one are mostly on seal bearing, which are more handle free. I hope I had answered you.
Hi Petrelli, I revisit your videos a lot and so thought of this when I started having an issue with my Lower Stop Disk. Essenitally, it sticks out too much even when screwed fully back. I have to lift the wheel a fraction to fully lower the seatpost when folding and then the same wheel lift when unfolding. Any idea why this would be happening, and tips to sort it out? Keep up the good work (good to see you making videos again by the way!)
@@Petrellionwheels I have replaced the LSD bolt for a titanium one - but it is exactly the same size and shape. The LSD itself is still the original one. I’ve got an H&H carbon seatpost but I had the same issue before putting that on the bike. Hi there bud, great content again and keep them coming :) I am using the 3rd LSD that you showed and did have an issue with my seat post too of not being able to fully lower down. I removed the the washer that supposed to be placed after the spring washer and I don't have the issue with my seat post hitting the LSD. But do you think it is ok with that washer not being install or I should be worrying and better have it back on again. Thanks again and have a lovely Wednesday :)
Thanks for watching my video and leaving the comments with me. The spring washer is there to keep the tension on the LSD. So it won’t be popping off if it went off a little bit from that bolt. If you don’t have it, you will just have to check if the LSB is secure at the position from time to time before it dropped off. I hope I had answered you.

The problem is that I could not identify/match the sticker with the bicycle parts. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you. S. H. Tan.

Hi Patrelli I have a m2l black edition which was supplied with an extended seat post. My question is, can I simply chop off the bottom of the seat post in order to make the seat go all the way down so it's more compact when folded, or is this flare important in the mechanism? In other words, I'm wondering if I need to buy a standard seat post or not, or can I be cheap and shorten this one instead? Many thanks for your help with this in advance. Keep up the excellent content and entertaining all of us. Wayne
I watched until there end. Why are 4 speed upgrades in Indonesia so common? You often see the same upgrades with Rotor or Thm crank and velotransit chain tensioner. Either 4 sp or 7 sp
Thank you for watching till the end, you are cool man. Everyone love more gears on the bike. It’s just easier to ride. The Brompton parts are well designed from a technical standpoint and, more importantly, have been tested. However they are ugly and the plastic is just not premium at all. These are not cheap bikes. The problem with many aftermarket parts is that they have not been tested and are dangerous. They can just fall apart or don't fulfil their purpose. I think Ti parts, Minimods, H&H and Joseph Kuosac are probably good. Please feel free to correct.
Why would people want to make your Brompton lighter? Is already light with a stock 6 speed at 28lbs. Is good to have some weight so your legs work harder, otherwise you would just defeat the whole purpose of riding a bicycle. Another thing is people who complained about the weight are the ones riding it to the gym to lift weight for their workout.
