    They both did a very good job during the sparring as a demonstration. I would only recommend to both fighter to keep hands up and be ready to defend. This is what I yell to my students when we spar. Norther how advanced you are blocking is a basic part of self defense. Great take down seen in the video, excellent counter kicking by both.

      hm but why do both normally wait for one of them to attack first instead of attacking first to get the upper hand.im starting sparring for tkd in a week and im curious to know.

    • @samjackson6066
      @samjackson6066 Год назад

      @@Backtoback160 There are various types of fighters in the world and ways to apply your skills and techniques. You have attackers or very aggressive fighters that are the "strike first, strike fast, strike hard", the counter fighters that attack only after being attacked, and then you have technical fighters that can be aggressive and defensive counter fighters in a fight depending on their opponents.
      We all may learn the same basics but our applications and how we apply them may be different depending the siuation. Two aggressive fighters may have to change their tactics if both constantly keep getting injured due to wildly thrown strikes. No one wants to consistantly injure themselves or walk way from the fight beat up. Especially in a "sport" situation. Recovery just takes a long time.
      On the opposite side with two counter fighters, in a timed situation where points and types of strikes matter, being in a situation where one's techniques depend on the others movements can 1 be boring and 2 never get started.
      Then you have two technical fighter that are doing everything they can to gain leverage on their opponent. Simply being like water.
      From the outside as a spectator it is very easy to say what you would do in a sparring situation. You can see everything the two players are doing. It is different when you are in the actual moment where anything can happen (a its happening with and to you). So with you preparing to spar, especally full contact with pads, I would say be prepared to hit someone, be prepared to get hit, and then figure out what you are going to do after that hit. Some people shut down, some lose control, and some live in the moment of the battle.
      Try to relax and learn how to give and take in the good and bad parts of the match.
      Relax, breathe, and determine the type of fighter you want you be when you spar. Not every situation is going to let you be aggressive just as not every situation is going to allow you to be laid back. There are many different fighters in the world. Some will be fast with no power, some will have amazing power and no speed, some will have great technique or their technique will look sloppy. It can vary. Most importantly, have fun and focus on what you want to do and not what the opponent wants to do. Be precise in your attacks and counters and protect yourself at all time.
      I hope this helps. Please let me know how your sparing experience goes and share your thoughts. Have a great day.

      I mean, keeping your hands down doesn't mean your defense is bad, it's just another style of fighting, in my case my hands were down and that increased my dodge and mobility ability.
      I'm just saying that if a student of yours insists a lot on keeping his hands down, let him be and let him flow with his own style, it's not good to limit the students so much. Take Ali for example, a boxer who kept his hands down almost all the time and was one of the best boxers in history, in the past they also tried to make them put their hands up and practice more book boxing, but luckily they he resisted that until another coach arrived who let him flow with his style and look at the reward

    • @tobyu145
      @tobyu145 Год назад +3

      I completely agree. After watching just a few seconds of this I had determined that these people were trained more recently or buy instructors who trained more easily because this is what sparring has become and it's not an improvement.
      Taekwondo becoming an Olympic sport was certainly not good for the free fighting or the actual self-defense part and karate soon becoming Olympic also will do the same to that are form.
      The longer almost horse-riding stance with the hands down is all-too-common and has been for a but it's not traditional Korean fighting or TKD.
      Most styles of karate also do not have their hands down like this. These two probably compete and a lot of competitions and that's where they get it.
      Traditional TKD or karate would have the guard up the whole time and once they moved in they would do several and then probably quickly follow it up with a leg sweep to drop the opponent, but they have taken so much out of tournaments so you have to fight by the rules of the tournament.

      Really like your answer, also wanted to add this to it, with TKD and Karate, keep in mind many practitioners today are using the sport rules set by a governing body to prevent injuries to its members.
      The rules on the street are not set for safety. They are set for survival of the fittest and who wants life more. Every martial art in the street has the potential to be effective. However, If you never practice or prepare for a real fight in you are setting yourself up for failure. If you prepare yourself for both situations and you can be well rounded in both aspects of your art.

    I personally have trained both, currently only training in Karate. (2nd Degree in TKD and 1st Dan in Karate). From my own experience I've noticed that even in general sparring, Karate is much more useful, though there are elements from TKD that made learning Karate easier and made sparring easier (I'm of course talking about full contact).

    1. Never Spar With Your Shoes On A Tiled Surface.,If You Ever Find Yourself With Your Shoes On A Tiled Surface You Have Just A Single Motive "Knockout"!
    2. Both Mobility Is Good., Never Forget Your Footworks , It's A Way To Keep Your Opponent Off His Own Feet While Your Plans Are Intact To Score A Point, Even If You Don't Have An Active Plan, Switching Both Your Legs Is Automatically A Confusion For Your Opponent., Leaving Him/Her To Act Without Caution (In Most Cases).
    3. Long Range Kicks Are Beneficial Not Fancy Kicks , When You Spar An Opponent With A Different Form.
    e.g Axe Kick , Side Kicks , Push Kick.
    4.. Always Keep Your Guards Up!
    Remember You Won't Be Sparring Like That In A Street Fight, Cases Of Weapons Might Occur.

    In sparring there are rules you need to remember. But in a real fight, for get the rules, both karate and taekwondo has the most powerful kicks. Taekwondo is fast and agile, they can produce more than one kick like basic kicks, turning kicks, and advanced kicks. While in karate, is mostly not feeling of pain, and they make both punches and kicks equal. So it goes to show that there are no such thing as deadliest martial arts. All martial arts are deadly.

    Point of correction! An art cannot fight another art, it's individual fighting, and how good you are, is determined by your dedication to training. Train hard in your specific art, and you will be Lethal weapon. Otherwise, keep up good work, Osu!

    • @Alvin_0523
      @Alvin_0523 6 месяцев назад

      No, an art can fight another. Because martial art is fighting (self defence). Is just you cant compare two martial arts, which is better. They both have unique techniques that are better for fighting, and it depends on how u practice too.
      No such thing as something based on fighting cannot fight another, just that they are bettee in different way.
      As someone who practice both, karate 7 yrs and tkd 1year+. Personally i still think karate is better in terms of self defence, taekwondo is too soft and minimal usage of hands. But if u include the speed and variety of kicks from tkd, it would be better😃

    São duas artes completas, infelizmente o taekwondo se tornou olímpico, o foco em todas as academias são voltados para competições, não vemos o rapaz do taekwondo usar uma defesa e nem desferir um golpe de braço, já o karateca usa muito pouco os braços nesse vídeo, poderia ter sido muito mais efetivo se todas as vezes que bloqueasse em vez de tentar chutar usasse soco, não é crítica para tentar minimizar o vídeo, e sim para ajudar na evolução. Oss!

      Uma coisa eu percebi várias vezes quando o cara do Taekwondo chutava várias vezes o karateca chutar também mas então facilmente daria para dar uma rasteira o pé de trás dava pra perceber daria para dar mas não o vez e isso poderia ocasionar em uma investida de chutes talvez do Taekwondo no karateca é claro em uma luta real, fora do puro esporte e o cara percebesse isso

      @@flowrepins6663 Na vdd, o karatê tradicional também tem imobilização no chão.. A questão é que as duas artes marciais do vídeo se tornaram extremamente comercializadas. O karatê ainda mais por ser mais "famoso".. tem séries e filmes sobre karatê e sobre TKD tbm. Como os campeonatos ficaram famosos, a galera só treina pra esporte e fica essa coisa ridícula que está hoje. Pô, o karateca só faz um chute. E essa queda que ele aplicou, tu nunca vai ver o cara se expor pra fazer o soco que ele fez antes da queda em um karatê tradicional. No momento que ele pulasse, um chute ou soco na garganta ia esperar ele. Não se avança com a guarda aberta desse jeito.. Muito bom os caras lutando na amizade. Mas isso está longe de ser karatê ou TKD de fato

    Oss aux deux pratiquants :
    Mon point à souligné sur Cette combat de compétition est que le Taekwondoiste se limite unpeu (réserver) par rapport à son coup de pied techniques, car ya des coup pied qui peut mettre le Karaté au Ko en une seconde ( Dorodarache aptchaki, yop Tchaki où holokoul Tchaki) les coups de pieds dangereuse du taekwondo en contre attaque.
    Le Karatéka n'est pas du tout souple, durant son combat, deux coup de pied durant le combat : (Mayigueri Diodane et Roine Mawassi et Atsouki Diodane) coup de point.
    Je suis aussi pratiquants de Taekwondo, Sitokan Ikido, et Yoseikan Budo.

    I teach Shorin ryu Karate (5th dan) and in my tournament days fought many TKD fighters. The karate fighter allowed the TKD fighter to keep him at a distance, giving TKD an advantage. Karate should have closed and stayed close in to cancel out the TKD's kicking skills. And keep your damn hands up, both of you.
