I think that Giovanni using a Marowak on his team with people knowing about Team Rocket's high-profile killing of a Marowak would be a great way of reminding the audience of how evil Team Rocket is supposed to be and how disrespectful they are to pretty much everyone and everything.

I actually object to the "replace one of the Emolgas with Tynamo" thing for BW1 Elesa because two volt-switiching Emolgas is a very, very good gimmick.
@@thedragonwarrior5861 A choice item would be perfect to justify the gimmick. One has a Choice Scarf to be faster snd the other one has a Choice Specs for a stronger Volt Switch! Watson having Plusle and Minun would actually be counter-productive from a design standpoint as their abilities, plus and minus respectively, were meant to show synergies that could occur in the at-the-time new double battle system. Unless Watson had a battle partner, Plusle and Minun would have muddied the synergy concept by appearing in singles format from a gym leader.

For Volkner I would personally add a rotom because the only thing needed to beat him is a Pokémon that can earthquake. Maybe rotom could be programmed to be a form super effective vs your starter or it’s completely random every time.
I definitely agree that every Kalos leader should've had a Mega, and even the E4 could've definitely had them as well. I feel like Megas should've been a staple for Clemont and beyond, Since Ramos is older, Maybe he's against that "New Fangled Mega Evolution"

Johto's 5th, 6th, and 7th Leaders can be fought in any order, as are...most of Kanto's Leaders, so the level curve is bad there. All of them should have 4 Pokemon still.
I disagree. While you do have flexibility in what order you fight them in there is still an intended order. Fighting a higher placed Gym Leader early is essentially the player choosing to have a more difficult battle OR the players team matches up better against a later gym so it's better to fight that gym for levels and stat boosts (As Gym badges in early games boosted your Pokemons stats). It's pretty common from my experience that players will delay Sabrina until after Blaine since Blaine's AI is terrible and team isn't particularly strong while Psychic types are OP in Gen 1.
@@bdf1006 I'll give you Kanto being more of a player choice than a game design intention. However with Johto it feels very intentional that the player is allowed to choose the order of gyms 5, 6 and 7. Since after gym 4 you get surf. Additionally you're in a crossroad and the next gym choice both require surf to access. Hell if anything I'd say Jasmine is gym 7 since she is game wise, further away from gym 4. Additionally a point for the intention being "do these gyms in your order" is the radio town. After you complete gym 7, the radio town takeover happens forcing the player back to a central location and putting them back on route to the next gym after takeover.
I believe gym battles should always be 3 on 3. The Elite 4 should be 4 on 4. The champion should use 6. Only that regions Pokemon should be used by gym leaders. Everyone else can use whatever.
I honestly wish that they would branch out from just having gyms specialized around types. I like what you mentioned in another video about a hypothetical situation where someone was a honey tree specialist. Imagine a gym leader who in pokemon available at night. Or a Dog Breeder specialist who has different dog Pokemon. A gym that is part science lab that studies dreams and has sleep/dream related pokemon. Maybe only have a few like this per generation so most of the game is still more traditional.
The gym leaders have their own pokemon yet the leagues forces them to use one single type. This can be evidenced by the first gym leader of black and white 2. Not only do we know he has stronger pokemon, we also know he has a starter.
I like the idea of a team that isn’t specifically just one Type. Giving a team a unifying strategy or thematic connection would be great. And to be fair, I think Raihan does this pretty well with his Sandstorm team. So getting more teams like that would be great.
@@zacharyjoy8724 I think the role of those fell into the frontier brains and other post game stuff. Too bad it didn't became a recurring thing like gyms and the elite four are.
Honestly I kind of agree. I think a good example I had discussed with a friend when the new games were announced was a sort of "futuristic/technology" themed gym, with example pokemon such as the Porygon line, Metagross line, and Rotom. Or a "storm" gym with a mix of water, ice, electric, and flying types and a heavy emphasis on weather.
I genuinely enjoyed battling Ryhan as I favor doubles myself, and I liked that he had a theme running with the sandstorm, but it has bothered me from the start that they call him a Dragon type gym leader when he's really a weather gym leader. Even his underlings had other weather effects in their battles..
I favor double battles myself as well, and I hate that there aren't more. Every time I run into two grunts of the evil organization at once, it INFURIATES me that they don't always do them as a double battle. And it's not because they're letting you heal between, because usually the next one starts right after.
There is literally 4 other dragons accessible by the 8th gym to literally give him a team of 5 to 6 dragons by the 8th gym. You have flygon, duraludon, drakloak, dracovish, dracozolt, noivern, and a few others bc his current team is a disgrace to be called a dragon gym and dragon types are my favorite. I literally beat x and y with all dragons starting with lvl 1-5 dragon Pokémon
I liked that Raihan was different with his battle style. Choosing to do a double battle was unexpected and very cool the use of weather effects was also very unique
I really love the design of Raihan's gym battle. While not the first gym leader to have a double battle format, it reinforced the idea that we could use more. Weather effects being the main gimmick for his entire gym is really fun. Not flawless, but would definitely like to see the concepts used more
@@waynejenkins5991 his battle would be easier with more dragon types because as Mikey put it, there are no other dragon types besides Duraludon and Flygon that don’t take damage to sandstorm and his gimmick is that he uses a competitive sandstorm team

Everything before Morty in Gen 2 was just blatant trolling by the devs. Flying type gym has a ground type coverage move. Bug gym whacks you with a STAB 110-Attack fueled move that doubles in power each time it's used. And of course everyone knows about Whitney's Demon Cow. (Honorable mention to her Clefairy who once Metronome'd me with a STAB hyper beam)

@@npcmcishark7379 speaking of Johto, why on earth they didnt gave Morty a misdreavus? (Same goes for the other gym leaders that have that type of Situation)
I never looked at Let's Go but I didn't realize just how much it fixed their teams. This is what all remakes should do, fix garbage teams. Nobody's that nostalgic for garbage gym leader teams.
The only thing they should have done with Lets Go is either replace Slowbro or Jynx with Hypno (To avoid to much overlap with Lorelei) and replace Koga's Weezing (Since Crobat is his Johto ace) with Tentacruel to avoid to much overlap with Agatha.
Something that i have an issue with when you were talking about koga. “Poison is the most abundant type in kanto” But that also means a lot of other major trainers use poison types in kanto. Erika: vileplume and victreebel Sabrina: venomoth (sometimes) Giovanni: nidoking and nidoqueen Agatha: arbok, gengar/haunter, golbat (These were taken mostly from the FRLG teams) I’ve seen people on the mandjtv subreddit complain a bunch of times about koga and poison types in kanto, but nobody seems to realize how many other trainers have poison type pokemon in kanto.
This is why I think treating Koga as a poison specialist is too simplistic. His poison specialism is more incidental. I’d argue he's a status condition specialist. His tactics are based on ninjitsu: stealth and hitting from the shadows. In the Elite 4 he speaks more about how many status conditions he will inflict than his type specialty and all his pokemon inflict at least 1 condition, and this is without even mentioning his evasion tactics. He’s a ninja first, poison type trainer second.
Erika makes sense but Sabrina having a Venemoth in the first place makes no sense since there are other psychich types and Agatha should never have been made a Ghost specialist due to there only being one Ghost line. So it makes no sense for the Gym Leader who SPECIALIZES in Poison to have to repeat Pokémon just because they gave them to specialists that don't need them. Besides the "other trainers use other Poison types" arguement is silly because 1.) There are still other Poison types that weren't used by them 2.) Different specialists means different strategies can be employed and 3.) Gym Leaders already use Pokémon used by other trainers anyways.
2 things: firstly, Applin only knows astonish so it’s even more fine than you said; secondly, video idea - teams for the gyms in hypothetical versions of the games where every fight is a double battle
The only change I’d make for Raihan’s gym team is to replace his Gigalith (which has basically no dragon-like attributes) with a Tyranitar. Tyranitar is far more dragon-like than Gigalith, and both would have similar functions: setting up sandstorm for the rest of his team. The only major differences are that Tyranitar is faster than Gigalith, but is also 4x weak to Fighting.
Again there are multiple dragons you can get by the 8th gym his whole team pissed me off since he literally had 1 galar dragon and are at least 6 new dragons in the game. Definitely would of enjoyed his gym more if it was a full team of 6 double battle with actual dragons instead of a sandstorm team.
19:34 Forgot to mention that Drayden uses an Altaria on his Challenge Mode team Skyla uses a Sigilyph on her Challenge Mode team Marlon uses a Mantine on his Challenge Mode team Burgh swapped out his Swadloon for Shelmet and Karrablast on his Challenge Mode team Elesa should have used a Joltik in BW because she used one on her Challenge Mode team
Yeah, but i can see why they didn't give him Arbok, cuz Agatha also uses one (Despite that though, Koga shouldn't have had Weezing either, give him Tentacruel instead).
Yeah, Beedrill fits; its pin missile in Gen 1 is definitely ninja-ish, and in pokemon yellow, they could put swords dance and double team on it to make it more of a ninja theme. Arbok also fits because it has glare, which adds to the whole strategy theme Koga also had. Imo, Koga should've also had Gengar. It's name comes from "doppelganger".. a body double or shadow. It screams ninja. But I guess it wouldn't make it unique to Agatha. But still, I think it's a missed opportunity there.
@@mazeppa1231 Agatha didn't really need to exist in Kanto though, Koga having a Gengar is fine. Agatha is just a repeat poison specialist. Her first non-Poison type is her Gen 3 Rematch team with a Misdreavus, and she doesn't have another until Let's Go with Alolan Marowak.
in the case of kalos gym leaders, i think everything would be solved if the starters had mega evolutions, until the 4th gym your starter would probably already have the level to evolve to its final form, if you received a mega after the 4th gym and all the others from there would be much better (it would be almost the same of ORAS because they did it right)
Yeah some of the mega evolutions picks, while needed, were weird. If I’m not mistaken I don’t believe a single gen 6 mon got a mega, which is weird because gen 6 introduced megas?? Also gen 1 and 3 starters got megas, but NOT the starters of mega evolution’s home region.
@@arandomhumanbeing9341 Megas we’re basically new evolutions for old pokemon. Gen 6 didn’t need any 'new' megas because they were brand new that generation.
10:56 ok, ik Johto has problems, but I can defend this. After Ecruteak City gym you get the HM surf, which doesn’t just make Cianwood City available, but also makes Mahogany Town and the Lake of Rage available to you. This means that you could choose either route. This also means that the devs probably saw this, so they made the levels to be more equal to Jasmine and Chuck. It is part of Johto’s open experience, which is one of the reasons why the original and the remakes are so deeply loved by a lot of fans. Now, it could’ve been a coincidence, idk, but still, something to think about.
I'm sorry, but this 'open' experience is why I don't like Johto as much as the other regions. Unless you like grinding, you're bodied into using the in-game trade mons, so half your team is gonna be the same- the antithesis of why pokemon playthroughs are fun, the diversity of it. My home region is Sinnoh, idk about the backtracking, but Johto would've been so much better if there was a strength block to get into Mahogany town.
I always felt like Koga and Sabrina got jumbled up somewhere because Marshes are more associated with murk and poison and the like whereas Souls are more associated pyche/psychics. Plus Sabrina has Venemoth and Koga's gym is full of Drowzee and Hypno wielding jugglers. Like, it seems like they decided to switch their roles in the game but they never got around to finishing rewriting all of the code for the game. Or something.
@@Kyush4 The badges are named after colors in Japanese - Marsh Badge (the Psychic one) is called the Gold Badge (gold is associated with psychic powers for some reason). Meanwhile Soul Badge is called the Pink Badge. Basically, whoever translated the games might've switched the names of the two for whatever reason. The original names make sense.
I think the anime and manga are helpful for explaining the gym leaders teams. Sabrinas Abra Kadabra and Alakazam team makes sense because in the anime, her gym is full of psychic spoon benders, so while it may be a somewhat redundant team, her reliance on them makes sense. You suggested replacing Giovannis first Rhyhorn with a Sandslash, but I personally think a Golem would make more sense, as Brock is mostly seen with a geodude instead, and his signature pokemon is more onix/steelix, while Giovanni uses a Golem in the Adventure Manga and blows up the entire gym, which i think is hilarious.
I believe that a younger Sabrina was saved by that Venomoth during her Mt.Silver travels. Most likely a dangerous dark type like a wild Tyranitar wiped out her entire team and that wild Venomoth having a vendetta against that Tyranitar because of it's rock typing used Bug Buzz and defeated the Tyranitar. Then she also noticed the psychic potential of Venomoth and the eternal telepathic bond was created. 🍥🦋💜
You know what? When I first played Pokemon Firered I lost to her twice. The second one was lost to that very Venomoth. I knocked her three Pokemon including her ace Alakazam. It was just Venomoth and I had four Pokemon left. I thought the match is now mine. But OMG! That Venomoth wiped my remaining team including my ace Blastoise with its gimmicky moveset! The relentless supersonic and confusion hits coupled with psybeam and gust were enough for my team to get whitewashed. I was totally dumbfounded. I wondered it is either I fought carelessly or Venomoth really was the MVP.
10:57 I think the reason Pryce’s levels are the same as Chuck’s is because the game allows you to challenge either one of them first, which while this makes the game structure more open, it’s also forced to lower Pryce’s levels in case the player would challenge him first. I honestly think it would’ve been better if they just blocked off Mahogany until after Jasmine and kept it linear, which would let them increase Pryce’s levels.
@Lavya Khayàndelwal btw thats nothing lol i beat Reactor Man,Ghost Woman and Honey Woman no damage buster-only in Mega Man Rock n Roll, this isnt an insult to MandJTV just provin pokemon is a baby game.
@Lavya Khayàndelwal yeah sorry for not making it clear. Btw pokemon isnt a very hard game so i usually just search up a walkthrough just for like one part i get stuck on because pokemon likes making shitty clues on what to do next
For Morty, I think one of the Haunters, not the Gastly, should’ve been swapped for Misdreavus. Sure, it’d make him a tiny bit easier, but it’d mean there were no repeats.
I like venomoth in a psychic gym and octilery in an electric gym. Gives some versatility. Wish we had more gym leaders who equipped Pokémon that didn't match their type of gym.
I mean having a different type in your team is fine, but still have moves that are relevant to your type specialty also makes sense. Giving every gym the same type team is very prone to a sweep.
But they’re intended to be fought in a specific order even if you can fight them in any order. Pryce is supposed to be the seventh gym leader, which makes Jasmine’s Steelix having a higher level than all of his Pokémon kind of frustrating to me.
The Kalos Gyms should all have Aces that eventually mega evolve so; Viola - Scyther Grant - Larvitar Korrina - Riolu Ramos - Ivysaur Clemont - Manetric Valerie - Mawile Olympia - Alakazam Wulfric - Abomasnow
Imagine him actually only using Fire-Types in Diamond and Pearl. *Imagine an Elite 4 Member using a Chimchar.* Edit: Oh wait, I can just pull a Glacia. Just give him 2 Monferno, 2 Rapidash and Infernape. XD
Flint was forced to use Infernape(a starter) because the only other fire type was rapidash. Game freak didn’t think to add any fire types to DP dex. And then they had to give him drifblim which fits the theme and lopunny (fire punch) This is exactly the same issue for Volker
Gamefreak: hires mikey Mikey: gives castform a all of the forms from lockstins video and adds the weathers before boosting castforms stats and making it available on the first route Michael Groth 1994-2021 RIP
Some clarifications: Pryce can be fought before Jasmine which is why Pryce's team isn't quite enough in level, to be honest For Unova, it's problems are late evolution levels. It also has more dragon types due to introducing more Pokemon. The pokedex is still modest in original B/W, in but B2W2 it becomes very diverse
I have no issue at all with gym leaders having starters. After all it's reasonable to assume that gym leaders were once eager 10-year old trainers who loved Pokemon enough to receive a starter from their regional professor. Now obviously they wouldn't use them in a gym team if no longer type relevant, but for grass, water or fire type gym leaders especially, it would actually make perfect sense for them to have one.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if most of the time their ace IS their starter. I mean, in Bede's case I'm pretty sure his Hatterene was his starter and, lucky for him, it also happens to work with his switch to fairy. Marnie's is stated to be Morpeko, but it's never her ace as a gym leader, though it still stuck around. Plus in some other games you can find random trainers use starters so there's reason to assume you could just find it out somewhere in the wild in normal circumstances. I mean Gardenia uses the Turtwig line, Flint has an Infernape, Lance and Leon have Charizards, Red has all three of the starters as well as a Pikachu and Espeon to represent Yellow and Maylene gets an Infernape in BDSP rematches as well as Byron getting Empoleon, the triplets getting the Unovan starters in the PWT, Misty, Erika and Blaine getting the Kanto starters in the same game, and Flannery with Blaziken and Wake and Gardenia with Empoleon and Torterra respectively.
Hey man, lurker here, just wanted to say, the Weezing line and Venomoth line teams make sense, if you think about it, there is a master and some apprentices, very ninja, and it shows how annoying a single type of pokemon can be when they are scaled up a couple levels, and have a slightly different moveset. Just an observation though, not to argue, I just prefer the poison type, and always thought his teams were a nice homage to ninjas in that regard. Great channel, keep up the good work, hopeful for gen 9!
I would love to see Mike design Gym Leaders based on stat specialties rather than types. (HP, Atk, Def, etc.) Preferably without the arbitrary region limitations that we see so often.
“Repeats emolgas for no good reason” sir the whole point of her using two emolgas was to use volt switch over and over again. Which is why her team actually works with repeats
I think it’s so cool that when designing some new aces for Johto gym leaders Michael actually thinks the same way as Pokémon Masters EX (heracross for bugsy, misdreavus for morty)
You know, I would instead make the Gym leaders much more diverse in the typing. The essence of a gym leader should be to show his type full potential to new players, not just of the pokémon type but of the Moves type. Like, if Blaine had a Gyarados with Fireblast or a Weezing with Will-o-wisp, I would have liked that. So having in every gym leader team at least one "Tricky" pokemon, one pokémon out of his type that can use their signature moves, should be a must for me. The ideal would be having a pokémon that has access to their signature move and it is also an anti-counter, like a Psychic or a Fairy type (to counter Fighting pokémon) with Attraction for Whitney. That would teach a new player the importance of coverage moves, both offensively and defensively.
SinisterHoodedFigure and Drayano did that in their rom hacks Blue Kaizo and Firered Omega, respectively. For example, Blaine had a Chansey in Blue Kaizo to soak up water moves. SHF refers to them as wildcards
i love the poison gym in let's go, bcuz they actually had a stragety that i needed to change my playstyle for. the rest of the game was way too easy and i never struggled with any of it, and only used Eevee... I *did* only use Eevee for the poison gym as well, sure, but it actually took a couple tries before i switched my moveset
Agreed! I always thought that as Gym Leaders, they shouldn't need to lower their team strength for all pokemon to have the same type. They represent type, yes, but coverage would definitely be something the Leaders know!
At face value this is beyond incredible. Somehow it gets more unbelievable the deeper one analyzes what you've done here. During your run you perform hundreds upon hundreds of orientation movements, spacial placement maneuvers, and intricately exercise fine granular camera control based on whatever your current task requires. This is what I find to be the most impressive part of this achievement! All it would take is a small deviation from your planned route to become disoriented and potentially lose time or force a restart... But even when there was one of your very, very few minor missteps in this run, you immediately had a contingency in place and were able to reorient yourself to your desired spacial placement and direction. This is beyond Super Mario 64. This is a vehicle on which you display a skill set that is something entirely difficult to comprehend from an outside perspective. I know I sure don't have the ability to commit to rote memory the kind of detail required to never miss a single step in something so insanely complex. On top of processing your exact coordinates and plane of view at nearly the rate of a computer, you still have to physically control the character and deal with the game mechanics... This is amazing, and I congratulate you on your new personal best and of course the world record. Looking forward to more content sometime. You've set the bar really high, but I have no doubt you have the determination to succeed in something even more unbelievable.
Honestly I like it when Gym Leaders use Pokemon that aren't their type, so long as it fits a theme. I loved the Gym Leader set of the TCG back in the day that diversified Gym Leader rosters while picking Pokemon that fit each Gym Leader well.
Completely agree! Gym leaders should NOT just have one type of pokemon. Having at least one pokemon that's a different type adds some difficulty and makes them feel a bit more creative.

It's really sad. I mean, I understand that they said the developers said they would stay faithful to the original Diamond and Pearl games, but frankly this is staying a bit TOO faithful for my tastes. Also, why did they show those Pokemon from the Platinum Sinnoh Dex in the trailers, then? Was it just a blatant tease? Are these Pokemon still catchable in the main story but just not in the Sinnoh Dex? What's going on?
This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm actually fine with some gym leaders having one pokémon that doesn't belong to the type they specialize in, I think it makes things a little more unpredictable and challenging.
Volkner's Octillery always gets me. I always forget that they gave him one in Diamond and Pearl and it's funny every single time I'm reminded. I'm sure they did that because of Sunyshore City's location and the limited amount of Electric types but surely they could've given him something better than a Pokemon that is weak to Electric.
I like the way you considered various factors like their position in the game and representing new pokemon, though I would have put a bit more emphasis on secondary typings to cover weaknesses.
A), doubtful, seeing as ninjas can’t clone themselves. And if you’re referencing naruto, Pokémon came out before naruto did. Shadow clone jutsus don’t exist in real life tho, haha. B) seeing as so many other gyms have repeat Pokémon, it only seems logical that Koga simply fell victim to the same system that allowed so many others. If he was the only gym leader with repeats then an explanation could be there, but since there are so many, there likely isn’t a reason.
@@WinedandDined27 actually while actual shadow clones are obviously bs real ninjas used to have something similar were they had several ninjas dress identically and moving quickly to give the illusion of clones

@@robertlupa8273 I did some research and the most likely reason is because by the time the anime got to Blaine, Game Freak was pretty ready to release the game, so anything around that time was just modified from the game instead of being based fully on the anime.

@@keeganguyer5237 Then why do we have to do "research"about it?
Well now that I think about it in gen 2 it's considered revolutionary to see a Pokémon egg.... I think the Pokémon professors sucks XD
Maybe because it would be a bit overpowered for most of the gym leader battles (Except for Wulfric) and it would seem unfair to the player.
Actually, if you add a second Abomasnow with a mega stone equiped then it would be a decent enough challenge, but still beatable.
So like give Chuck a Machop.
Or just get the idea of Pokémon unbound, I guess?
He’s the weather master.
I like to think rayhan say to the cameras
Ryhan: my gym is dragon types
When his true passions is weather and double battle

Something that i have an issue with when you were talking about koga.
“Poison is the most abundant type in kanto”
But that also means a lot of other major trainers use poison types in kanto.
Erika: vileplume and victreebel
Sabrina: venomoth (sometimes)
Giovanni: nidoking and nidoqueen
Agatha: arbok, gengar/haunter, golbat
(These were taken mostly from the FRLG teams)
I’ve seen people on the mandjtv subreddit complain a bunch of times about koga and poison types in kanto, but nobody seems to realize how many other trainers have poison type pokemon in kanto.

The only major differences are that Tyranitar is faster than Gigalith, but is also 4x weak to Fighting.

Despite it's reputation as a "baby game," Let's Go has solid teams for the Gym Leaders.

We need grunty boys starting team through all the generations
I stan this idea
There isn't as much wrong with Chuck, Jasmine, and Pryce's teams when you consider that they are able to be beaten in any order.
IMO Jasmine probably could’ve made excellent use of a Forretress
But they’re intended to be fought in a specific order even if you can fight them in any order. Pryce is supposed to be the seventh gym leader, which makes Jasmine’s Steelix having a higher level than all of his Pokémon kind of frustrating to me.
The Kalos Gyms should all have Aces that eventually mega evolve so;
Viola - Scyther
Grant - Larvitar
Korrina - Riolu
Ramos - Ivysaur
Clemont - Manetric
Valerie - Mawile
Olympia - Alakazam
Wulfric - Abomasnow

*sad Flint not a gym leader noises*
let's hope he makes an E4 version
Imagine him actually only using Fire-Types in Diamond and Pearl.
*Imagine an Elite 4 Member using a Chimchar.*
Edit: Oh wait, I can just pull a Glacia. Just give him 2 Monferno, 2 Rapidash and Infernape. XD
Flint was forced to use Infernape(a starter) because the only other fire type was rapidash. Game freak didn’t think to add any fire types to DP dex.
And then they had to give him drifblim which fits the theme and lopunny (fire punch)
This is exactly the same issue for Volker
I’m pretty sure that there will be a lot of kalos gym leaders
Kind of want to see a version of this for any elite four, champions or evil teams with bad teams.
Elesa having two emolgas does have a point, it’s her strat, spam volt switch on them, that’s why she has two emolga specifically, cos its fast

Let’s be honest Grunty Boi was gonna play Raid Shadow Legends at some point
Some clarifications:
Pryce can be fought before Jasmine which is why Pryce's team isn't quite enough in level, to be honest
For Unova, it's problems are late evolution levels. It also has more dragon types due to introducing more Pokemon. The pokedex is still modest in original B/W, in but B2W2 it becomes very diverse
“It is i GRUNTY BOI” never gets old
I have no issue at all with gym leaders having starters.
Being grunty boy is tough, he has to change his voice for that long ! IMPRESSIVE Mikey!!!

10:05 "Next is Jasmine- I HATE HER TEAM!" Got me ROLLING
I would love to see Mike design Gym Leaders based on stat specialties rather than types. (HP, Atk, Def, etc.)
Preferably without the arbitrary region limitations that we see so often.
or even other gimmicks, like raihan being the weatherman
“Repeats emolgas for no good reason” sir the whole point of her using two emolgas was to use volt switch over and over again. Which is why her team actually works with repeats
Mikey had the PERFECT opportunity to say that bugsys teams BUGS him but didn't take it
1:08 so Misty went from two Water-types with Psychic moves...to two Water-types with Psychic moves. Brilliant job everyone
Honestly, I never thought about it this way! That would be kinda sick
Thats why i liked Cynthia’s gastrodon with sludge bomb or wallace’s gyrados with earthquake. Great way to catch ya off guard
Bad news. Sinnoh gym leaders aren’t gonna have acces to platinum dex in BDSP
Because Masuda is a greedy bastard.

Drayano : *laughs in 6 mons per gym while still making it fun and far from unfair or frustrating but still making it challenging*
You've set the bar really high, but I have no doubt you have the determination to succeed in something even more unbelievable.
wrong video or youtube glitch? I am seeing this on MandJTV, not an SM64 video.
Honestly I like it when Gym Leaders use Pokemon that aren't their type, so long as it fits a theme. I loved the Gym Leader set of the TCG back in the day that diversified Gym Leader rosters while picking Pokemon that fit each Gym Leader well.
Example, please? I don't know much about TCG, but you got me interested.
Yeah, can you give examples?
Completely agree! Gym leaders should NOT just have one type of pokemon. Having at least one pokemon that's a different type adds some difficulty and makes them feel a bit more creative.
@@robertlupa8273 Giovanni had a Persian and Machamp, Brock had a Ninetales. Sabrina had a gengar and a venomoth. Erika had a Clefable and I think a Dragonair.
There were probably tons of others but those were some of the ones I got as a kid. Of course they also had plenty of pokemon of their own type.
@@msdrakegx Or at least, if not the Gym Leaders, then at least the Elite 4 should do so. They're supposed to be the best trainers in the region. Surely they'd know there's such a thing as "crippling overspecialisation".
16:30 sadly their Pokémon teams will be from D/P. So…
It's really sad.
@@KingCanada very few platinum dex Pokémon are catchable in the caves in the underground
Buffing their original DP teams into competitive level (such as held items, movesets, abilities) in BDSP still does not solve the problem
I think the reason why Koga has so many repeats is because he’s a ninja, his repeats can represent clones.

@@jefferyfeistel3843 Then why doesn't Blaine have his Magmar?
@@robertlupa8273 I did some research and the most likely reason is because by the time the anime got to Blaine, Game Freak was pretty ready to release the game, so anything around that time was just modified from the game instead of being based fully on the anime.
I agree with his opinions on Wulfric, as in my first playthrough he was super easy to beat, even with my team (somehow) being under-levelled.
They need to add a difficulty option for when you start the game. One for players that want the story but not the challenge (or maybe they’re new), and one for players who like a challenge and are familiar with the game.
