Small correction at 9:16, the gaps in walls can actually be bigger as the size limit for holes is a 4x4 gap, not just 4 tiles total (so up to 16 tiles for square holes). I've used this to my advantage in the past to create "outdoor" garden type homes with fences and leaf walls placed in just the right way to make it seem super open, but still barely meets the requirement of having background walls.
Hope you're doing alright. You've honestly changed how I build in Terraria at a fundamental level, in a good way. So... thanks. From me, and all the others you've helped.
i come back to these videos every couple months, and i see you still haven’t uploaded yet. you’ve opened up building for me a lot on this game, i normally did little shacks or npc homes made out of platforms in the sky, but now i find myself devoting hours to a build as opposed to the 10 minutes i would do before. we all miss you man, and we hope you’re taking your time and doing okay.
I’ve always liked digging a large canyon in my desert for the desert pylon village, with houses dug into the sides of the two opposing cliffs and rope bridges and scaffolds crisscrossing the gap. I also do a little oasis at the bottom, too, and dig an entrance to the underground desert.
I unironically love the desert materials. Just glass itself is an amazing addition to builds!! Love that this turned into a series As always, amazing video!! xoxo
when you become passionate about building in terraria, I realized how i took his content for granted i used to make crappy houses and beat terraria. its not that fun but building is really fun and beating it
I am leaving a comment to boost the algorithm. Im really hopeful about a future where you continue to make videos. Every time you make a build tutorial I always try to rebuild what you've built and just from that I jump forward months in skill, and your videos are a ton of fun!
I know this vid has 70k views, but you are genuinely underrated khai. I fucking love your stuff, and your personality. Even the subscriber dog is something I’ve never seen. You are a legend ❤
Desert is the 2nd base that I make in many of my playthroughs so these build guide videos will serve as a useful foundation for my own bases! Thanks and looking forward to your the rest of your builds.
"I wish there was a Sandstone Accent Slab" < Can we start a petition for "Accent Coating"? (unblends the tile from everything but accent coated tiles of the same material)
I don't think you need to be that strict, at least normal wood, stone and crafting stations are almost always available. It ends up being too extreme (unless that's what you are going for)
Yeah. I think it's fine to include the non specialty crafting stations too by default (workbench, sawmill, anvil, loom, furnace ECT.) As they are immediately available on spawning in.
I've been trying many different things for my builds, and having a little help from these videos have helped. I never new that in graveyard biomes you could make different variations of walls and blocks, I love it. Thanks Khaios!
That spiral staircase is genius! Thank you so much for your building content. I'm a terraria noob myself and can't wait to start some sick builds to show off!
I would absolutely love to see modded building, I feel like it’s extremely overshadowed and there is so much potential to be had. I also love the series so far! I like to freshen up my biome builds for NPC pylon expansion and these builds give super helpful information and inspiration.
You mentioned wanting to have a sun chair in the final modern build, it may or may not stretch your rules for the build but i recently found that the "dynasty bed" makes a great sunchair (i used it in a solarpunk build I'm working on) the effect works better with a nearby workbench acting as a tiny table. you can have a wine glass atop, and perhaps a parasol with palm wood fence and hammered cactus blocks.
I really love this series. Something I struggle with is building houses early game because, in order to build the ideas I have, I need specific materials like dynasty wood. Having simpler alternatives is very nice
Man, this was super helpful. I never seem to know what direction to take my desert builds. Now I've got something to look at for inspiration! I'd love to see an underground style that uses the granite and marble biomes as i feel they're commonly avoided.
Even if I won't immediately put this into practice, listening to this kind of build guide is very comforting and satisfying. Hope I can see more of this in upcoming weeks. Good luck on your next house
The amount of work u put into your videos is amazing, and I don't even mean just the actual builds themselves, but your attention to detail with showing materials etc and showing lists of materials with clever placements is so cool! Mind blowing contact!
Would absolutely LOVE seeing modded build videos from you, especially if you were ever planning on mixing multiple content mods for more combination options. I do realize I have been asking this on your channel for a while now lol, I certainly hope I'm not the only one down here who'd love to see that
If you come back, you could try the immersive projector mod. It lets you render any rectangular area over any other, scaled, rotated, and tinted to your liking. You get to decide which layer to render it on and what to include/exclude too. I haven't used it for building yet, but it seems to have a lot of potential for custom backgrounds, pass-through decorations and such.
I really didn't expect that last build! But it does make thematic sense, so I see where your brain went! It's given me a lot of ideas for more modern builds.
I really liked the pyramid, I think I might try something like that next time I have a go at the game, I think it would be really cool to paint it white when the painter moves in. Also this was fantastic idea for a series, hoping for the snow biome next ^^ Good luck on moving tho, that stuff is very stressful, take care!
Happened to catch this 6 minutes after it uploaded :D Great builds, but particularly it's really nice to get notes on where and how to access all of the build materials. And glad people can see how much variety the desert biome can offer here
I wish you luck on the move! Looking forward to more episodes for this series, and would love to see ice/snow biome next. I also believe doing a video on some modded building tips would be well received ; )
The piramide is BUSSIN!!!!!!!!! Very interesting and beautiful usage of gold (money + ore) GREAT video, GREAT building! Every time i watch your video, i feel so inspired, so thank you for the content)
I’d love to see videos like this for snow biome and jungle biome! Maybe even a cavern layer house (I always find cavern houses hard to understand/make look good)
It’s been a good amount of time since you last posted! Don’t feel like you have to be obligated to make a video but a lot of us would love to hear or see an update on how you’ve been doing these past couple of months. Again, you don’t have to but as a casual viewer and subscriber of your channel (and knowing of some personal stuff of yours) we’d like to hear that you’re doing ok.
I literally just discovered your channel with only forest items houses, now this And here you gained my love to your content and inspired me to make a new world with more care about the way i treat my npcs
Excellent pyramid build. I would love to do something similar in one of my play throughs 15:36. Good luck moving and I look foreword to the jungle challenge video next… 😁
Really cool builds, I'll try to channel some of this the next time I build in the desert. Also, that pyramid needs a mummy, but can't be done until hardmode.
Been subbed to you for almost 4 years, love your content and will be following your last two videos and later the pylon builds too! I hope you continue the series!
I'd love to see jungle or ocean next, and one for living wood trees would be cool too! Using forest materials plus living wood/leaf wand, and living loom
Loving these vids! I probably won't watch modded Terraria videos mostly because I don't play modded Terraria myself, but if I ever do I might check them out. Can't wait for the snow builds!
i've always found the desert biome to be the hardest to build in, the color palette there is confusing and I don't want to just copy over my forest build, so thank you for this
Looking forward to see an Underworld starter house vid for the upside down seed. Also you can get Oysters from fishing in an oasis so shucked oyster is another desert-centric food item, a bit easier than cooked fish but harder than tree shaking, but then corrupting an oasis for food sounds harder than fishing with a wooden pole and scorpions for bait.
Every time I see one of these videos it makes me want to get back into this game and try to build something actually appealing. Maybe after classes are done before finals week
Modded content would be awesome, an extension of the Pylons series using the added Pylons in Calamity mod would be so cool, even if some of those biomes are terribly friendly
YES, I would LOVE modded building videos. When playing Calamity, I realized I didn't utilise much of its new building sets to my benefit. Once this series covers all the vanilla biomes, I would be very happy if you also did Calamity biomes.
Honestly I've been thinking about this for the past couple of days, and I think an idea would be doing this but with Hallowed biome, even though it's hardmode and obviously when you get there you aren't starting out. There's a lot of interesting blocks and materials to work with, maybe it could actually work out.
You're absolutely right. I misremembered that it was 4x4 not a total of 4 connected tiles. Thanks for the correction!
Sounds like a cool build :>
That build sounds sick
I did not know this was gonna be a series, but im loving it
Bu bu bu bu bu (I’m loving it)
Same here
Same here
Fr, these are so cool!
Agreed
Hope you're doing alright. You've honestly changed how I build in Terraria at a fundamental level, in a good way. So... thanks. From me, and all the others you've helped.

He said he would be living with his relatives for about a year, move, then start moving 6:35
Move then start videos
We miss u man. Hope everything is ok wherever you are :)
Miss you khaios hope your okay
I’ve always liked digging a large canyon in my desert for the desert pylon village, with houses dug into the sides of the two opposing cliffs and rope bridges and scaffolds crisscrossing the gap. I also do a little oasis at the bottom, too, and dig an entrance to the underground desert.
This sound cool, might try something similar in my next big playthrough
i think ill try this but with a sparkly hallow canyon 😮❤
Hope you're ok man.
Same
yea, same :((
what happened?
Ssssss
Wondering too... What happened? Hope he's doing okay.
I unironically love the desert materials. Just glass itself is an amazing addition to builds!!
Love that this turned into a series As always, amazing video!! xoxo
Great timing for me! I've been playing Terraria again and I was gonna build a desert village today!
Same here, I saw my old builds and houses in like 2015 and they were ugly boxes LOL
Same bro I wanted to build something better than just wood and stone brick boxes so I went to this for ideas
when you become passionate about building in terraria, I realized how i took his content for granted
i used to make crappy houses and beat terraria. its not that fun but building is really fun and beating it
you're the best
Starter houses are always extremely fun to make. I love restrictions on what blocks you get to use as it forces creativity.
Loving this series! Ice or underground next?
I am leaving a comment to boost the algorithm.
Im really hopeful about a future where you continue to make videos. Every time you make a build tutorial I always try to rebuild what you've built and just from that I jump forward months in skill, and your videos are a ton of fun!
i always found desert to be the hardest, it probably has something to do with the shade of yellow for the sand
so i REALLY appreciate the video!!!
I know this vid has 70k views, but you are genuinely underrated khai. I fucking love your stuff, and your personality. Even the subscriber dog is something I’ve never seen. You are a legend ❤
This series is a great display of game knowledge and creativity. I am enjoying it a lot. Good luck with your move.
"a two week break"... Man i miss you. What happend?
Uhhh... Yeah.
Uhhh... Sadly True...
Starter houses are the bomb, thanks
Desert is the 2nd base that I make in many of my playthroughs so these build guide videos will serve as a useful foundation for my own bases! Thanks and looking forward to your the rest of your builds.
"I wish there was a Sandstone Accent Slab" < Can we start a petition for "Accent Coating"? (unblends the tile from everything but accent coated tiles of the same material)

Soon I'll do another playthrough and I'll definitely make a desert base, now that I'll know how! Thanks so much for this, Khaios!
I really love this series. Something I struggle with is building houses early game because, in order to build the ideas I have, I need specific materials like dynasty wood. Having simpler alternatives is very nice
Why does every RUclipsr I enjoy watching disappear without a trace 😭
Khaidjinn doesn’t exist, he can’t hurt you
Khaidjinn:
Man, this was super helpful. I never seem to know what direction to take my desert builds. Now I've got something to look at for inspiration! I'd love to see an underground style that uses the granite and marble biomes as i feel they're commonly avoided.

I'm glad this became a series! Great video for desert builds.
I'd be down for seeing some modded build vids. Good luck with the move!
Hope you’re doing okay! You taught me everything I know about building in this game.
I think the snow would be a cool starter house what with the cozy cabin vibes
The amount of work u put into your videos is amazing, and I don't even mean just the actual builds themselves, but your attention to detail with showing materials etc and showing lists of materials with clever placements is so cool! Mind blowing contact!

I love this series so far. I’d love to see a snow, Jungle And maybe cavern episode.
The fact you still make terraria content is amazing and so helpful everytime i come back to this game. Love everything you do for us
If you come back, you could try the immersive projector mod. It lets you render any rectangular area over any other, scaled, rotated, and tinted to your liking. i'd love to see you making a starter snow or jungle house for the next video
All these houses work so well, excited to see the series continued. Also would be down for a modded build to see any wild buildings you could create
I hope hes doin alright, we miss you dude
I can't wait to see the don't dig up seed houses. The ashwood trees make amazing wood
Happened to catch this 6 minutes after it uploaded :D
Great builds, but particularly it's really nice to get notes on where and how to access all of the build materials. And glad people can see how much variety the desert biome can offer here
This is awesome! I always struggle with the desert house. Too often I leave them as bland squares
Loving that you're makin this a series! Also, good luck on the move, and I'm lookin forward to when you can post again!
I'm enjoying this pseudo-series a lot. Seeing Khaios build without any extremely fancy stuff is both impressive and helpful for us.
i love u khaios
Gotta love a khaios video of any kind ❤
Man I miss your videos khaios, it’s been awhile, hope you’re okay
I miss your videos so much :( I'm on a huge Terraria binge and you don't have anything new for me to watch.
I wish you luck on the move! Looking forward to more episodes for this series, and would love to see ice/snow biome next. I also believe doing a video on some modded building tips would be well received ; )
The piramide is BUSSIN!!!!!!!!! Very interesting and beautiful usage of gold (money + ore)
GREAT video, GREAT building! Every time i watch your video, i feel so inspired, so thank you for the content)

Gotta say I like the modern build the most - burying the water is a neat trick.
Looking forward to the snow biome video.
They all look incredibly good, i expecially loved the piramid design
I would absolutely love to see a calamity build tips video! The new building blocks are so overshadowed by all the combat changes and bosses
Thank you so much! This build series is helping my no wood playthrough houses look good!
I literally just discovered your channel with only forest items houses, now this
And here you gained my love to your content and inspired me to make a new world with more care about the way i treat my npcs
What timing, just after I made my first real desert build! I could have used some of these tips but I'm still pretty proud of my creation
Excellent pyramid build. I would love to do something similar in one of my play throughs 15:36.
Good luck moving and I look foreword to the jungle challenge video next… 😁
I cannot wait for the next episode of this series!
I love the second one. If he keeps making these videos I'm going to start making my houses way more interesting! Thanks for the motivation!
if you havent decided on the next video up in the series yet, i would love to see you tackle starter jungle houses!

Loving these vids! I probably won't watch modded Terraria videos mostly because I don't play modded Terraria myself, but if I ever do I might check them out. Can't wait for the snow builds!
This is great. I'd love to see what you do with the snow and mushroom biome.
I usually build a stilted house on the Oasis if I find one early enough. Makes fishing and keeping the undesirables out pretty easy too.
i've always found the desert biome to be the hardest to build in, the color palette there is confusing and I don't want to just copy over my forest build, so thank you for this

Love that this has become a series. Good luck with the move!
Take your time with moving. We can wait. Just glad you could get somewhere to live and Im looking forward to your return
This came at a perfect time for my current game; I was struggling with desert base design.
Really loved the swimmingpool! Thanks!
This series honestly brought me to this channel and im glad it did, new subscriber here❤
Every time I see one of these videos it makes me want to get back into this game and try to build something actually appealing. Maybe after classes are done before finals week
I would really love to see khaios use some of the calamity materials. Ever since I found it I've been obsessed with the otherworldly stone
Don't know if you'll see this but a modded building series is not something I've ever seen and I think you'd do it very well
Modded content would be awesome, an extension of the Pylons series using the added Pylons in Calamity mod would be so cool, even if some of those biomes are terribly friendly
This look even more breathtaking than the forest starter houses!
YES, I would LOVE modded building videos. When playing Calamity, I realized I didn't utilise much of its new building sets to my benefit. Once this series covers all the vanilla biomes, I would be very happy if you also did Calamity biomes.
Hay Khaios can you please do the snow biome next. Also this video was very helpful thanks!
Can't wait for the snow variant of this, I've always wanted to live in the snow biome
These series are SO GOOD! Making me want to build more. Also never heard anyone use the name adobe house before
Adobe houses were very common where I grew up, so it's a name I've come to use a lot
More Khaiostomization! I'm excited, I've already learned so much from you
Honestly I've been thinking about this for the past couple of days, and I think an idea would be doing this but with Hallowed biome, even though it's hardmode and obviously when you get there you aren't starting out. There's a lot of interesting blocks and materials to work with, maybe it could actually work out.
I love this. I never get tired of new inspiration for terraria
Thank you for this tutorial Khaios. You make Tarraria much more fun to play.
These are some nice desert houses.. nice vid as always :) . hmm I'd like to see Ocean or Jungle next personally.
Wow TIL that you can use water in the desert for oasis plants to spawn. Great buils, as always! Love your content!
love your content man! really hope you'll continue this series in the future. maybe some ocean/beach builds would be nice
Loving the genie outfit from Aladdin looks great
Great video, I'd like to see some ice biome starter houses next!
