    The Meditation Trust was established as a registered charity in 2000 with a mission to make Transcendental Meditation (‘TM’) accessible and affordable for all. With a fee structure up to 50% lower than other UK courses, and up to 80% lower than European prices, this allows anyone with a desire for TM’s huge range of potential benefits, indicated by scientific research, access to the authentic, ancient teachings.

    TM is a great meditation... but 3 years ago I discovered Vipassana and their 10 day retreat...and wow! Vipassana changed my world. I became extremely focused and much more creative as a Solutions Consultant. Look up Convergent and Divergent mind and meditation. 🙏

    I would love to learn TM but the cost is ridiculous in Australia. What I don't understand is that TM is taught to some prisoners for free. There are some of us that cannot afford the course that would really love to learn but are unable, due to cost. I have been practising breath and mindfulness meditation for many years and find it of benefit. 🙏🏼

      Hi Bodhi, that is why our UK charity was set up - to make TM accessible and affordable to all. Unfortunately we only operate in the UK, but you might be able to find other independent teachers in Australia.

      @@alegriart Transcendental Meditation is very simple but as a result very subtle and delicate. It therefore cannot be learned from a book, DVD or online. Its effectiveness depends on the skilled instruction and guidance of a professionally qualified instructor who has meditated themselves for many years and undertaken extensive training, as directed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This, plus free support and guidance for life, provided by the Meditation Trust, will ensure correct practice.Trying to take a shortcut to understanding will almost certainly end in disappointment. Because the simplicity of ‘doing nothing’ is contrary to everything else we ‘do’ in our lives, it is very easily misunderstood.

      Bodhi, In the past Kings had to renounce their kingdoms to learn. TM is a bargain. I sincerely mean it. Run don't walk to get this knowledge. It's a world changer.

    I find returning my attention to the mantra every time I realise I,m thinking laborious and repetitive and not effortless at all.If I just let go then I just day dream.I for one don't find the 'tequnique' as explained simple at all. In fact it all sounds confusingly vague to my ears. Good luck if you understand it cos after 36 years of daily practice I dont.

    • @themeditationtrust
      @themeditationtrust  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for your frank and honest comment, Paul. 36 years of daily practice is a remarkable achievement. There is no reason for anyone to find the practice difficult or not to get all the results from regular practice - you just need to stay in touch with your teacher who, as part of your free support and guidance for life (if with The Meditation Trust) will ensure complete satisfaction. If you'd like to drop me a line via the contact form on the website, I'll be able to put you in touch with Colin Beckley for a chat if it would be of interest.

      I find that to be true at times as well with just two years of practice but not all the time. I'm have a hard time believing anyone could keep any practice for 36 years while never finding any enjoyment or benefit. I sure couldn't. Sometimes I'm in a mood or restless and feel like i'm just going through the motions. What keeps me doing it at those times are results in my better behavior and lessened anxiety and because I know those can be subjective My BP and resting heart rate give me a tangible measure for when TM seems like an effort.

    What to do when one knows the meaning of the mantra before it is given? I have had contact with various yoga traditions, practices and mantras over the year, as well as the meanings of many Sanskrit names/words, esp through the Hare Krsna movement.

    • @rohitayu
      @rohitayu 6 лет назад +2

      TM is taught person from the level of consciousness and has nothing to do with the mantras online or which you may happen to know.

    • @themeditationtrust
      @themeditationtrust  5 лет назад +1

      That's right Diane, the mantra works on the level of sound/vibration, not meaning. Therefore knowing some sanskrit words will not affect you learning.

      @@themeditationtrust May I add to this and say it is not just the sound, but also the way it is used; and Maharishi changed the actual sound very slightly to make it easier to refine,and as it becomes more subtle it opens up deeper layers of awareness; awareness follows the sound which also carried the body and breath to more gentle areas of restfulness and to a sense of expansion of the mind so we feel bigger and more at ease, more content and the mind becomes more quiet.

    what's the difference between Mantra meditation and TM meditation?

    • @themeditationtrust
      @themeditationtrust  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Mindful Dreamer - you may find it useful to look at our page explaining different types of meditation: www.meditationtrust.com/how-is-transcendental-meditation-different/
      Different techniques can all use a mantra but they will differ both in the specific mantras used and also in the different way the mantra is used.

      nothing

    • @jayf8308
      @jayf8308 Год назад

      @@emres888 Well "nothing" and everything lol TM is just one form of Mantra meditation. Many Mantra practices have meanings and are specific tools for desired results. Many of which may not be good for just anyone or fit in with most lifestyles. Affirmations can be used as Mantra as well and here in the west they are used almost exclusively. The Mantra in TM is purposely meaningless.

    The fact that my comment criticizing TM has been removed (as will this one, no doubt) speaks volumes.
    It's a common enough experience, I gather!
    They're not big on the truth, nor people challenging their assertions!
    It's all part of the reason why it needs to be criticized and exposed!

    • @jayf8308
      @jayf8308 Год назад

      So why do you find it necessary to offer critics here ? Most of the comments seem to be very positive among those who do TM and good questions coming from those who are interested in learning. Have you been through the program?
