Tip: save EVERY BIT of scrap from this meal and make Frankie's Rent Week lentil soup with it. I chilled and strained the braising liquid to remove fat, then made lentil soup with the leftover cabbage and pickled veggies. Delicious!
Made this recipe and it is AMAZING! Our local grocery store had a great sale on this cut, so I decided to give it a try. It was perfectly tender, juicy and extremely flavorful. I made tacos one night and Korean bbq beef bowls for lunch (using rice and leftovers from earlier in the week). So good and so filling. Next time I'll make a double batch for extra meal prep uses. Thanks Frankie! You rock!
I decided to make a variation of these with ground turkey today since I had every other ingredient on hand already. I think the turkey worked out quite well! I just got a quick crust on the turkey with some high heat, took it out, then built up the braising liquid in the same pan (I added less liquid since it would not cook nearly as long), then finished cooking the turkey in there. Quick and easy, but the flavors were great!

Korean Tacos?!! JAJAJA~ We call it SSAM(= veggie wrap) I'm Korean girl and really enjoyed Frankie's video. Very creative :) TIP: If Gochujang(red pepper paste) is tooo spicy to you, try Ssamjang. We usually use Ssamjang when we eat Ssam. Wish not that expensive in your country. Also, you can steam your cabbage, make it soft, easy to wrap. ruclips.net/video/7eJUakJdm7g/видео.html Can I expect Frankie version of Bibimbab, next?
Been doing this for years. Before I knew what braising was. Used shoulder clod and other tough meats. Spices and peppers/onions make all the difference.
Question: what to do with the braising juices after the steak is cooked? Surely they shouldn't be thrown out, but somehow reused for some other recipe. Can these juices be made into a gravy or a broth for ramen noodles? Suggestions anyone?
1. got glass noodle? Jjimdak Dangmyeon ruclips.net/video/9dP1hIhQz9k/видео.html - glass noodle: soak 30min in water - Simmer the sauce, put soften glass noodle(drain water), cook 6~7 min. Stir often, so not stick to the pan. - Add some veggie(sweet potato, carrot, broccoli..)/meat/seafood(shrimp, small octopus..) for nutrition balance. 2. got Tteok & fishcake? Ganjang Tteokbokki ruclips.net/video/G_S_9VWQcAE/видео.html 3. got rice & egg? soy sauce egg Deopbab(= sauce on rice) ruclips.net/video/-3y_AR7zYXM/видео.html 4. or...You know how to make curry? Use this sauce instead of curry spice. ruclips.net/video/ZPKsqqWgG6s/видео.html 5. everything FAILED? Don't worry~ Put some more gochujang with chili powder to the sauce. Strong flavor will cover the fail ;D ruclips.net/video/Iq1vrT8Wt1Q/видео.html TIP: Gochujang goes well with cheese, ganjang(= soy sauce) goes well with butter. Highly recommend cheese on Korean spicy food.
Looking good and fit Frankie. Try making a struggle meal with Samgyupsal and how to get the best meat that are cheap and create an instant grill for the meat just to feel the whole korean experience. Thank you for the fresh video.
Yay! More Struggle Meals! Frankie, you make eating as a broke person so much more interesting. Thanks for all the great ideas. I just made that spaghetti with olive oil and broccoli from Season 1.
Depends on what country you are in. Try getting a local grocery app to get an idea? Or even try ordering online, even if you don't buy everything you will get a price.
I bet you're NOT Korean :) Jangjorim(soy sauce braised beef, shredded) is one of my favorite Banchan(= sidedish). ruclips.net/video/W_24fzeXLcY/видео.html Ssam? lettuce, sesami(perilla) leaf, cabbage(fresh/ steamed), napa cabbage(fresh/ pickled), pumpkin leaf... Anyways, thank you for watching lots of Korean food mukbang. Here's for you ;D ruclips.net/video/lhR6wXhysU0/видео.html

pressure cooker works too if you don't have an oven. Also faster in a pressure cooker; hour and half max
yes
How long should I leave it in the pressure cooker for?
mh google is your friend. “Pressure cooker brisket recipe”. You got this 👍
Any chance this is written out somewhere with exact measurements?

Love your packet drawer! And, I thought I was the only one to put a plate on my bowls. I hate plastic wrap. Great videos!
Quick pickles! Yasssss! I love the quick pickled red onions on practically everything.

How wholesome
Korean girl that laughs like Spanish. Jajaja

Thank you! Not a spicy girl here. I now have a substitute!
I'm pretty sure he knows Saam. This is just his version of a taco
Where do you get you raglan ringer t-shirts? Love them!
Been doing this for years. Before I knew what braising was. Used shoulder clod and other tough meats. Spices and peppers/onions make all the difference.
Korean Chili Paste will list in the fridge for two years Frankie says.
Not in my house! Haha!
Because you're using it, not because it goes bad, right??
😂😂
@@FrankieCooks ofc
Frankie Cooks, Yes indeed, I would eat that stuff on anything, it’s like the Asian Franks Red Hot Sauce.
So happy to have you back!
Those tacos are making my mouth water. I need them in my life.

I bet that would be awesome with some ramen noodles. Or the base for any soup. Good ideas!

I've reused juices from braised short ribs to make a gravy for some poutine. it was delicious!
I miss Struggle Meals on snapchat 😭😭😭
lydiabeetz me too!! I hope they bring him back

What can you replace with the paste if you can’t eat spicy
Recipe isn’t in the notes!!!! 😭😭😭
Yay! More Struggle Meals! Frankie, you make eating as a broke person so much more interesting. Thanks for all the great ideas. I just made that spaghetti with olive oil and broccoli from Season 1.
My head just exploded. My favorite show Dan le batard with stugotz combines words. Now my favorite cook frankie combined pickles and quick!
What would be the time equivalence in a slow cooker? On both low and high?
Still watch this video over a year later
I made this today. It was delicious.😋
My favorite one
How much money do you think it would be to start on the “struggle meal plan” getting all the basic ingredients?
Depends on what country you are in. Try getting a local grocery app to get an idea? Or even try ordering online, even if you don't buy everything you will get a price.
@FrankieCelenza what do you think about Slow Cookers?
Where can we get that fermented Korean spicy sauce?
Why are there no written instructions with ingredient measurements?? Why??
my hero has returned
Recipe?
Hm! I wonder if I can braise the beef in a slow cooker instead?
I cant have the spice but I finally learned how to braise. Thankyou.
New favorite youtube thing lol.
On a personal preference note I would use Napa Cabbage. Looks good either way!
The braised meat can be replaced with green jackfruit to make it vegetarian.
I think Frankie is my fav chef 🙌🏼
Looks delicious!
We’ve waited 3 months for this!!
YOURE BACK!
These are great. Chuck steak is getting it's day.
More Struggle🍴Meal video please... 💝😎👍
I'm embarrassed by my bag of fast food/take out sauces once I saw that ridiculously organized drawer of free sauces.
Looks delicious

Yaasssssss
Fraaannkie
Yaaaassssss
wow never seen 60 cuts in the first 30 seconds of a video
I love Struggle meals, but the lack of music makes it feel like a 8AM Food Network show.
It doesn't look Korean except the part using gochujang! It's like saying a dish including dijon mustard is French style food!
This actually looks like ssam
He said it was inspired. He didn’t say it was the real thing.
I bet you're NOT Korean :)
