If you want the truth watch team O`Neil rally school evaluation, there the evo was much faster both on gravel and on tarmac, and it is faster on snow too, and with full boltons it produces a lot more power, the STI needs a turbo upgrade to catch up, and that needs a lot of supporting mods, the evo comes out cheaper. But on the other hand the new 2015 STI, has a better steering, better chasis, better suspension setup, so it is on par with the evo, but the engine is not, if they put in the FA engine, and redesign it to be a turbo engine, than the new STI will be my next car, until that time I will keep my old evo x, and enjoy it.

RCSJ11 - STi's are more expensive to build up anyway. And these cars were pretty evenly matched. That STi has more top end power though, probably a bigger turbo.

Fuji San You have more strength holding the bottom of the wheel than the top. Also in drivers ed nowadays you are told not to hold at 10-2. 9-3 is better, and even recommend 8-4. If you get into an accident with wheel at 10-2, the airbag could knock your hand into your head. I'm sure that's not the reason in this video.

Great racing.. both cars are good. Subaru are not as bad as you think. What kills them is a short 2nd and 3rd gear. Subies are geared for off-road and coming hard out the corners. The 2.5L motor was not designed to rev but so high. You can build it stronger. As someone else said here.. Better race is 4G63 vs EJ207.

STi beats Evo because I can drive it for more than 5 years and sell it for slightly less than I bought it for. Evo drop about half in price while STi drops a few thousand dollars. Everything else is pretty much personal preference. The numbers fair slightly better for stock Evo vs stock STi, but not enough to justify the cost/year driving that 90% of either car's owners are going to put on the car.

So what is win ? Subaru have the best engine sound , better interior than evo , better engine and 4x4 drive . Is not everithing in speed. Subaru is Word Rally Champion and evo is not

I have a 04 stage 2 Sti and I love it...i also have nothing but love 4 the Evos. Both great cars!
I don't think people realize just how bad those short gear ratios in the pre-2007 STi's kill performance... especially with larger turbos setups.
