Having grown up just outside the Blueridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley, I can't hear this song without thinking of home. Those mountains will forever be home, and this song will forever make me cry.

By FAR my favorite of the "Irish Tenors". And actually, my favorite tenor just in general. While he has that operatic voice, somehow he still has that "everyman" quality to his voice. It's hard to explain, but I just love the way he sings.

This song actually has nothing to do with the Shenandoah Valley or river, other than being historically and culturally misappropriated by my fellow Virginians. It's a song about a person named Shenandoah and the Missouri River. This is a very nice version by John McDermott.

Shenandoah: {John Gate} sings of a she doe on the land, his love for his daughter upon the sands of the land in which the flowing arteries of water cast artistic veins which mold her into a witch. This is the Latter Day Pygmalion story of creation that is Lion-Dragon 7/26/1964 B.A.S. + {Daughter of the Sun} & now Mother of Louis Bullock.
