Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed my reaction to Back to the Future 2! I am very excited to finish off the trilogy next Monday with Back to the Future 3. Again, thank you so much for watching!!!
@@natedogs212 That's true, but hey that's still pretty incredible. It’s also very interesting to see what is now a 30 year-old film give a prediction on how the future would be 30 years from what was then considered to be the present, don’t you think? And yes, you’re right that Back To The Future Part II didn’t exactly get 2015 on the T, but you gotta admit it’s also absolutely incredible to see how much the film predicted actually came true; such as huge flat screen TV’s with a huge variety of streaming services, virtual reality video games, ordering at restaurants without waiters (instead through tablets or kiosks), voice activating technology (such as through ALEXA, cell phones or our cars), improved communications technology (whether it be through our cell phones, computers, or the internet), there was even an official limited edition release of the Nike Power laces (very expensive of course) along with the many fan made versions of the shoes and the hoverboards like the hacksmith versions you mentioned earlier. The best movie of the trilogy in my opinion. This movie allude allot to the classic movie It's A Wonderful Life from 1946 so that movie I think is one of the first time travel or alternative reality movie. What does this movie does first I think is showing the first movie from different perspective which is so cool. A stunt double actually got hurt in real life pretty seriously from that clock tower hover board crash scene. George is upside down because they replaced the actor. because the actor from the first movie didn't want to come back. He actually saw the production for using a make in the shape of his face on the double.
I find that surprising, for me it's the least good one but only just. To me, it felt the most awkwardly written. Pushing the plot to make it fit. It also lacks some of it's own identity, as the original future aspect is only in the film for about a third of the runtime.
Actually there are various accounts on whether he did not want to come back or Zemeckis did not want him because he questioned the first movie's ending (Glover claims that he told Zemeckis in his eyes the message is money equals happiness)... but IF he did choose to not return then it is questionable why the company told press that Glover wanted as much money as MJF... according to Glover they offered him half of the money as Lea Thompson or Tom Wilson who had similar sized roles at the time. It is also noteworthy that they used prosthetics made specifically for Glover, to make it seem like he was in the movie, and that footage from the first movie without paying Glover for any of it... which led to the groundbraking decision that forbids movie companies to use an actor's likeness without their consent or - probably more important - without paying them.
All the futuristic stuff was mostly intended as a comment on how movies/TV/books/etc. constantly overestimate how far advanced we'll be at a specific time in the future.

I never noticed before, at 10:53 Marty Jr. Is almost hit by a car. It is a reference to Midnight Cowboy, when an extra in a car got too close to Dustin Hoffman, and Dustin ad libbed "Hey, I'm walking here."
18:25 Biff is watching the hugely influential 1964 Sergio Leone film _A Fistful of Dollars_ . This film transformed Clint Eastwood from a well known tv actor to an A-list hollywood leading man, and (although not the first European western) created the "spaghetti" western genre of films.
You kinda look like JAMES STEWART, you know ? Someone right here compared this to the classic forties film A WONDERFUL LIFE. A wonderful film indeed, stands the test of time and is dear to the hearts of generations. You really should watch it ;) Alas, my dad always mentioned it to me and it wasn't until he had passed away that I did watch it and man, what a SUPERB film.
Marty had to let old Biff go back to 2015 because old Biff had the DeLorean, and Marty, and Doc need it to go home. They need be sure that the DeLorean gets back to them.
Crispin Glover had a philosophical falling out with Robert Zemeckis over the ending of the original BTTF. Crispin Glover felt that Zemickis had basically said with the ending that money = happiness and Crispin didn't like that. I think Zemeckis would counter that money is simply a byproduct of George McFly's success due to his increased confidence. He would probably also say that George's happiness is a direct result of his self confidence, not the money.
It's actually Bob Gale that Crispin has the real issue with, even to this day. He did have an issue with Zemeckis back then, but him and Glover actually mended their relationship and they have actually worked together again recently :) but Bob Gale and Crispin Glover....yikes!! They still have a HUGE beef against each other.
@@blowba No worries!! Check out this clip of an interview Crispin gave, he talks about it and gets very agitated when he starts talking about Bob Gale, especially at 4:34. And at 5:42 he starts talking about how Zemeckis took the high road and at 6:08 he states how they worked together on his new movie :) ruclips.net/video/j-gM7hbHZNs/видео.html
Theory: Martys trigger wasn't in the first movie, so i speculate it was cos of a ripple effect due to the time change, where now George would've taught Marty to stand up fir himself but Marty doesn't know to pick his battles. Irony is that if he hadn't gone back in time Marty wouldn't have that trigger that caused the accident in the place. (This isn't like Austin Powers, they apply actual rules here)
4:51 nope, just a plot thread they needed tied up since they never expected or intended originally to make a trilogy...was gonna be a standalone...but since she came along at the end of part 1...she was gonna be there for part 2...they’ve said if they knew they were gonna make a sequel, they wouldn’t have had Jennifer get in the car
Griff and his gang act a little strange because they have bionic implants. Doc explained this to Marty when they first arrived in the future, telling him that Griff has a few loose screws.
no The guy who plays adult George was also Christian Glover in the first film but in the sequels the other guy played him because Glover couldn't return for the sequels and same with the actor of Jenifer. If you look. The actresses are different.
13;57 I used to think this as well growing up.. Til I learnt as an adult that a more official way of being told you were fired from a job was that your SMPLOYMENT was “terminated”...but I am so glad you noticed and thought that
If you notice the girl playing Jennifer in Back to the Future 2 is the girl that played Johnny Lawrence's girlfriend in Karate Kid the one that came back in cobra kai I've loved the back of the future movies ever since I was a kid first one came out year I was born
The kid that complains about having to use his hands to play a video game is Elijah Wood, btw. And yes, that is Michael J. Fox playing Marty McFly-1985, Marty McFly-2015, his son Marty Jr., AND his daughter Marlene. Also, the Alternate version of 1985, and Alternate Biff, was modeled after Donald Trump and what the world would be like if he ran things. They didn't miss that mark by much :P
Back to the future is the first movie where I found out who the composer was because I loved the score so much. I remember that as the first time I ever paid attention to the credits. I still love when I'm watching another movie and see Alan Silvestri's name go past.
Michael J Fox actually got to sleep during the making of this movie. During the making of the first film, he was in the middle of shooting family ties, and he could not get out of the contract. So he had to shoot that during the day, and then shoot back to the future at night and on the weekends. I think he got a total of about three hours of sleep per day if that.
When the DeLorean was struck by lightning, it simultaneously energized the time circuits and caused it to spin fast enough to activate it. That’s why the frame trailers were in a spiral.
BTTF1 - "Goldie Wilson, I feel I have to remember that name now because why would they say it." And then when we meet Goldie, crickets (not even included in the video). 6:20 - "Reelect Mayor Wilson Jr. . . . was Wilson the guy in the first movie?" /sigh
The simplest real-life things are there if you can pick them up. The chinless not-great-looking guy, with most likely nothing else to his name, gets his moment of fame within which he has the information no one else has. Now is his time...he is the center of the world: "I think he took his wallet!" And then, to re-affirm his pre-eminence, he looks in another direction and reaffirms, "I think he took his wallet!" I'm glad I watched you do this one. I have to rewatch and figure out what the heck is going on with the dates in the car. Maybe one of the other commenters knows: Right before Doc hits the time-circuits display, the date shown is January 1, 1882, but then he hits the display and it changes to November 12, 1922. What am I missing? Nothing in this movie occurred in 1922, did it? Whatever the case may be, I'm glad you put that in your edit because now I won't get any sleep for a week and I'm going to have to buy a big tablet and trace the history of where Marty and Doc were. Yikes!
I love that interpretation of the wallet guy as I am calling him. And sorry for making you stay up for a week but these questions are probably more important than anything else in the history of the human race
@@RolyPolyOllieReactions I'm glad you got how funny Wallet Guy was. I laugh every time I watch this movie, but, with other reactors, they breeze right by that scene, deadpanned. You get the little things! You're pretty smart, and it makes up for the fact that Yoda can dance you under the table!!! :) Can't wait for you to see III; you'll like it.
Michael J Fox played his son and daughter. Also Crispin Glover isn't in the sequels due to salary conflicts and he ended up suing them because they used a look alike in this one
I'm pretty sure simply using a look alike would have been perfectly legal. They somehow actually made a mask of his face to put on the upside down guy.
I’ve just noticed that when Biff was in his jacuzzi with the 2 girls, he was watching an old western movie whose main character used an iron plate as a bulletproof vest. That’s Marty in part 3! Such a fun paradox. Did he learn it from these old western movies? Or did the movies learnt the move from Clint Eastwood? 😂
'When people saw this in theaters were they nostalgic for all this stuff?' Yes. It was a film watched by everyone so Baby Boomers, where were parents of young children then, were 30 years removed from their youth. So a trip to the 50s was nostalgia for them as much as the film's 1985 setting is nostalgic for Gen Xers and older Millennials.
7:08 This shot was supposed to be funny because it says the computer in the window was an antique when it was cutting edge when this movie first came out.
It's kind of funny that Biff gave himself all he wanted, but still he wasn't happy with it. BTTF is just that deep. Also old Biff died when got back 2015 because Gale and Semeckis felt that alternate Lorain shot him in 1990, so old Biff killed himself via proxy.
Honestly, I think revised 1985 Biff is the best (after the first movie and at the end of 3), he runs his own auto detailing business which was successful enough to still be around in 2015. He also seems to be fairly happy with a pretty decent relationship with the McFly family.
There was trouble between the production and Crispin Glover, so they wrote him out ... Actually they didn’t plan a second part, the end at the first was just for the joke. So when they wrote the script for this one they had to get rip of Jennifer to get the story right. :-)
I saw this in the theater and I didn't feel like the story wss repeating at all until they went back to 1955. Watching it again now I see the parallels.
I can appreciate that you want to be able to hold on to cars on a board, but I am guessing for that reason you don't drive. As soon as you do, you realise how easy it would be to kill someone in a blind spot. The same way I used to love walking on tight country roads, now I realise how I could have been killed all my childhood by drivers lol
5:35 the bit so many reactors gloss over was the reference to constant inflation... Where in the mid 80s a Pepsi was(example) $2.50...in the mid 50s was about (again example) 25-30 cents... And docs instruction was to go in and order a Pepsi...having handed him a FIFTY DOLLAR NOTE!!!
Actually in 1955 it was more like 10 cents for a Pepsi and it would’ve been in a bottle, no cans. In 1985 a 12 ounce can cost 35-55 cents and a 16 ounce bottle cost around 75 cents. There were no 20 ounce plastic bottles in 1985. Those were restaurant and vending prices, soda from the grocery was way cheaper. The $50 for a Pepsi was definitely a joke about inflation but paying $2.50 for a Pepsi in 1985 would’ve been insane. Paying $2.50 for an entire 12 pack of cans would’ve been a little pricey. Also, that fancy Pepsi bottle in the Cafe 80’S was definitely a flex by Pepsi, showing off a design for a futuristic looking new plastic bottle.
@@robertstrawser1426 well you’re right, but since we were referencing a scene in a diner/cafe, was referring to prices there And I was making guesstimations regarding prices from memories of chats with my dad and uncle Also, considering what’s going on in America right now…it’s becoming less of a joke and more of a prophecy
Thomas F Wilson plays all versions of himself 55 Biff 85 Biff 85 Wimpy Biff 85 Evil Biif 2015 Old Biff And Griff so does Crispin Glover in the Original and actually so does everyone else
Speaking of Crispin Glover, you gotta hop on the Friday the 13th train sometime, bro. You gotta watch the first four films, at least, and earn the right to watch Crispin's short, but epic dance scene in the 4th film so that it may be ingrained in your mind for all-time.
I believe parts 2 and 3 were the first big movies to be filmed at once (or back to back) they opened six months apart. (saw em both in theaters!) Neither as good as the original but still pretty fun movies. Solid reaction, lol I love how Trump the Biff of the alternate 85 was - you can't make this stuff up!
Biff did die because in the alternate 1985 Lorain finds out he killed George in 1991 and killed Biff as revenge allowing Biff to exist in 1985 but not alternate 2015. so old Biff died and an article from a deleted part 2 scene tells us this so thats how I know this information.
They hadn't written the sequel when they ended the first movie. However, they left it open with the "something has to be done about your kids" line-but that setup sucked! The whole opening of act Back to the Future II was to get through that not-so-great sub-plot and get to the REAL story. That's why the opening kinda drags a bit. It's the best they could do with the setup they had.
MacFly getting offended by being called "chicken" was invented for these two sequels, to make Marty do stupid things where they otherwise would not make sense. There is no "chicken"-trigger for Marty in the first movie, but I, like everybody else, assumed it was an ongoing theme from the first.
I have to add that there is a theory behind the change in character: Marty in part 2 is not the same Marty as from part 1 because George became another personality and that worked through for Marty who also became more standing up for himself.
The first movie ending “to be continued” was originally a joke, and only after people were still asking the filmmakers where the sequel was did they decide to actually do it, and in fact film TWO sequels, back to back. That’s why there’s a slight disconnect (what do we do with Jennifer?) between the first and this one, and so many connections with (and hints/foreshadowing for) part three here also.
that really explains why they basically sidelined Jennifer when I thought she was going to play a bigger role. I also love the foreshadowing/hints in this movie they were so good
The "To be continued" wasn't even on the original theatrical release. They added it to the VHS release after they decided they were going to go ahead with a sequel.
That’s weird, because I remembered seeing someone from the production saying it was a joke and people took it seriously and kept asking over the next few years so they felt obliged to make more, but you are apparently correct! 👍 Perhaps I’m just remembering that he said the idea of continuing was a joke, not the words onscreen since they weren’t really there lol.
@@namelessjedi2242 the setup for the sequel was the "joke" ... "Something's gotta be done about your kids" ... they never planned on needing to follow up on that, but they also didn't bank on it being such a hit.
What about the Family Ties European movie ? All great fun films. Hard to choose but maybe For Love Or Money is my fav (The Concierge in other countries).
@@kristagerry8505 It's not great. You'd have to be a big fan of the show to love it. I remember thinking it was strangely serious for a sitcom. It's an international spy story happening to the Family Ties cast which is just weird but that's fun if you can roll with it.
"Had to"... as in he told Zemecki's that he thought the ending of the first movie in his eyes had the message that money equaled happiness and he did ask for more money as they offered him half of the money they offered Lea Thompson and Tom Wilson... in the final movie it seems like he did have a lot less lines but that is after they decided to go with a new actor... Interestingly they ended up using molds taken from Glover's face to create the prosthetics for "grandpa George" and the footage of Glover from the first movie. Glover sued them which led to the groundbraking decision that forbids movie companies to use an actor's likeness without their consent or - probably more important - without paying them.
Another great reaction! If you want to watch some other Michael J. Fox movies, none of them come close to the Back to the Future movies, but some are very good. These are the ones worth watching: Teen Wolf Greedy The Frighteners (directed by Peter Jackson) The Hard Way Doc Hollywood Best Regards!
The first two movies weren't recorded back to back it wasn't going to be multiple movies that's why Jennifer is in the car at the end of the first movie but part two and three were recorded together and it was going to be one long sequel and they decided to divide it into a trilogy
The reason the movies went with Pepsi was because unlike Coca-Cola, Pepsi changed its look over and over, so a Pepsi in 1955 looked nothing like a Pepsi in 1985, and the joke is that it would look even different in 2015.
I think we'll have flying cars in 500 years, but it might take that long. But they won't use rotors or wings to produce lift. They'll just be anti gravity.

it is a good movie. how did biff go back into the past and come back to the same time he left and not a changed future but doc says if they go go back it will be a different future.
Crispin glover wanted to be in part 2. His agent asked for more money than mJ fox. They shot it down snd replaced him. Glover got pissed because they used a different actor and copied his performance. Just a bummer situation
15:40 You play too many video games. Real life shotgun shells don't magically turn into Nerf darts after traveling 20 feet. 22:16 Yes, that's exactly how they did it.
A fact: George was dead in this film because they couldn't agree on a wage with Crispin Glover. They couldn't have George, but wanted an explanation for why.

You really should watch it ;)
Alas, my dad always mentioned it to me and it wasn't until he had passed away that I did watch it and man, what a SUPERB film.
@@andrewkelley434 huh! Didn't know that!
@@blowba No worries!! Check out this clip of an interview Crispin gave, he talks about it and gets very agitated when he starts talking about Bob Gale, especially at 4:34. And at 5:42 he starts talking about how Zemeckis took the high road and at 6:08 he states how they worked together on his new movie :)

(This isn't like Austin Powers, they apply actual rules here)
Frodo was at the 80's cafe too
He must have been on his way to Mordor and gotten thirsty!
Literally the first person to notice that old biff was fading away because things were changing....
I was born in 1981. This is the movie I've seen the most in my lifetime. I used to abuse my VHS copy of this lol. It's nice to see you enjoying them
And nice job on not watching the trailer at the end
You didnt even know but the pink light was the perfect choice to go with the famous pink hoverboard
2 other good Michael J. Fox movies are The Hard Way and Doc Hollywood
Also The Frighteners!!
Um Teen Wolf?
Needles, Marty's boss is the bassist to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Yup! That's Flea.
This was *30yrs* in the future so it's exaggerated *80's* with a *Sci-Fi* twist
Try to imagine *30yrs* from now which would be like *2050🤔*
The part where Marty bites his hat after having his hand crushed hurts to watch 😂😂😂
It still pains me to think about!
@@ShuffleUpandDeal32 both 😂
Back to the future is the first movie where I found out who the composer was because I loved the score so much.
All the older versions of the characters (except for George McFly in BTTF 2) are the younger actors.
you know, I can't remember _exactly_, but I do think I remember mom saying something about feeling nostalgic about all the 50's stuff in the films.
When the DeLorean was struck by lightning, it simultaneously energized the time circuits and caused it to spin fast enough to activate it. That’s why the frame trailers were in a spiral.
BTTF1 - "Goldie Wilson, I feel I have to remember that name now because why would they say it."
And then when we meet Goldie, crickets (not even included in the video).
6:20 - "Reelect Mayor Wilson Jr. . . . was Wilson the guy in the first movie?"
/sigh
Love watching your reaction.
Thank you!!
10:30 The Guy who voices Roger Rabbit. He also appears as Young Biff's Mechanic.
You asked if the same actor played old Biff as young Biff. Yes.
Oh, I thought you might like this... ruclips.net/video/0WFeFwDPwSk/видео.html
Ok so that was amazing. I did not know what to expect with that song and it really delivered
Tom Wilson is a stand up comic now, and despite always playing a tremendous ass, he's actually a super nice guy
Robert Zemeckis is one of best directors in Hollywood. you should watch all his films. You might also like Minority Report for sci fi/action.
I know I watched Minority Report as a very young kid and did not like it but maybe I should give it a second chance
Yes, we saw Doctor Who episode "Blink" with weeping angels. :-D
You didn't notice Jennifer was a different actress.
I've seen it happen to a lot of reactors 🤣
The second and third were filmed back to back. That’s why Needles shows up suddenly in this.
So many reaction channels seem to miss elijah wood as one of the kids at the arcade machine:)
Once again, another great review reaction. You never fail man.
18:56 - 19:06 I’m watching closely it’s all silent then Marty McFly says what the hell is that I literally jumped and laughed 😂😂😂
Yes, Michael J. Fox is great! So i highly reommend the movie Teen Wolf 1. I love it so much and think it is his best role after Marty. 😊
13:27 - The Pizza... from Pizza Hut - which was owned by PepsiCo back when this movie was made. (LOL)
There was trouble between the production and Crispin Glover, so they wrote him out ... Actually they didn’t plan a second part, the end at the first was just for the joke. So when they wrote the script for this one they had to get rip of Jennifer to get the story right. :-)
The Jaws movie is directed by Max Spielberg. Steven Spielberg‘s son.
7:31
WUT DA DOG DOIN
You know this is worth sequal as the psycho movie
It was 2 and 3 that were shot back to back.
This movie predicted what 2015 was gonna be like, as long as Marty doesn't visit 2020.
7:27 those talking tvs are a reference to the 80s futuristic tv show Max Headroom, look it up and you'll see ;)
“Now THAT is the future!”
2015 👀
Lee-Uh Thompson
I'm surprised you didn't comment on the re-cast Jennifer.
If you want another time related movie, check out "Frequency".
@@robertstrawser1426 well you’re right, but since we were referencing a scene in a diner/cafe, was referring to prices there
And I was making guesstimations regarding prices from memories of chats with my dad and uncle
Also, considering what’s going on in America right now…it’s becoming less of a joke and more of a prophecy
Thomas F Wilson plays all versions of himself 55 Biff 85 Biff 85 Wimpy Biff 85 Evil Biif 2015 Old Biff
And Griff so does Crispin Glover in the Original and actually so does everyone else
Speaking of Crispin Glover, you gotta hop on the Friday the 13th train sometime, bro. You gotta watch the first four films, at least, and earn the right to watch Crispin's short, but epic dance scene in the 4th film so that it may be ingrained in your mind for all-time.
ruclips.net/video/7K80iymgWRg/видео.html
I believe parts 2 and 3 were the first big movies to be filmed at once (or back to back) they opened six months apart. (saw em both in theaters!) Neither as good as the original but still pretty fun movies. Solid reaction, lol I love how Trump the Biff of the alternate 85 was - you can't make this stuff up!
Biff did die because in the alternate 1985 Lorain finds out he killed George in 1991 and killed Biff as revenge allowing Biff to exist in 1985 but not alternate 2015. so old Biff died and an article from a deleted part 2 scene tells us this so thats how I know this information.
at 22:09 Doc Brown talks to himself :P
They hadn't written the sequel when they ended the first movie. However, they left it open with the "something has to be done about your kids" line-but that setup sucked! The whole opening of act Back to the Future II was to get through that not-so-great sub-plot and get to the REAL story. That's why the opening kinda drags a bit. It's the best they could do with the setup they had.
Correct Marty #2 would not be there in the original 1955 I don't think.
That little boy is a young Elijah Woods
Some of my favorite early Michael J Fox movies- The Secret of my Success, Teen Wolf, Doc Hollywood, For Love or Money and High Schoo USA! l
What about the Family Ties European movie ?
All great fun films. Hard to choose but maybe For Love Or Money is my fav (The Concierge in other countries).
@@tempsitch5632 I don't recall watching the Family Ties movie just the episodes during the series! So I can't say if I like it or not?
@@kristagerry8505 It's not great. You'd have to be a big fan of the show to love it. I remember thinking it was strangely serious for a sitcom. It's an international spy story happening to the Family Ties cast which is just weird but that's fun if you can roll with it.
Don't you remember all those flying cars we had in 2015?
They had to recast Crispin Glover with a different actor. That's why he's upside down
"Had to"... as in he told Zemecki's that he thought the ending of the first movie in his eyes had the message that money equaled happiness and he did ask for more money as they offered him half of the money they offered Lea Thompson and Tom Wilson... in the final movie it seems like he did have a lot less lines but that is after they decided to go with a new actor...
These are the ones worth watching:
Teen Wolf
Greedy
The Frighteners (directed by Peter Jackson)
The Hard Way
Doc Hollywood

@@RolyPolyOllieReactions I also really like him in 'Secret to my Success' a really fun 80's comedy/romance
Another underrated Fox movie is 'Life with Mikey'.

How did you know there was a trailer at the end of the film? You also predicted a few things almost too well. I'm sure you haven't seen it before, but some stuff did make me wonder.
Oh I knew there was a trailer at the end of the film because someone told me after my first video came out :)
That's a day i won't forget, was walking down the street minding my own business when some crazy old codger with a cain shown up, said he's my distant relative I didn't see any resemblence, ask me how would i like to be rich
Wow Biff! That sounds like a crazy story that should get its own movie!
it is a good movie. how did biff go back into the past and come back to the same time he left and not a changed future but doc says if they go go back it will be a different future.
7:04 I think that's a son or grandson. Dude looks like he did in the 50's when in this one he should be like 85. lol
You can get better range from a shotgun if you are using slugs instead of buckshot or birdshot.
They wrote 1985A (Alternate Timeline) Biff after Donald Trump. 🤮 Loved your comment about The Terminator busting in. That would have been an amazing crossover!!! 😂
